The location and the cost were a definite "plus." I could walk or use bike share to get anywhere I needed to be. Yonge and Dundas, Kensington Market, shopping, and restaurants, all were near by. A nice surprise was the Allan Gardens Conservatory across the street (it's free!). Also, the neighborhood itself was relatively quiet. I was "in the city" but not in the midst of it. My basement room was still "bright." I didn't feel buried away beneath the building. The shower was large. The mini-fridge was a nice extra.

The only complaint I had was that the building itself, being old, was not very soundproof. I could clearly hear the people in the rooms above me and across the hall. A little too clearly at times. That and the fact that the headboard was not connected to the wall and so it banged against the wall when I moved on the bed.

Location is great Tv nice Staff gave me attitude for checking in early but they did make up for it by letting me view what rooms look like and helping me with my bags up the stairs no elevator A lot young travelers who have great ideas

Not allowed guest Homeless ppl in the park but they don’t bother you Uber past them No phone to call front desk Guest lounge and waiting room dusty Room next to house keeping supply closet heard banging every morning and wakes up to strong cleaning supply fumes Left my room to go for a run and came back to see dead multiple misquotes in my bed 200 hold fee for already overpriced room but I’ll allow it due to last minute booking and location Over all I would stay again just need some tweaking and the place would be amazing Also they need to add more then coffee for breakfast

The Pembroke Inn is fairly well situated in Toronto. Eaton Centre was about 15 minutes walk for me, 30 to the old distillery, with public transport options very close by.

Although I found the proximity to downtown decent, the area where the Pembroke is located feels a bit sketchy. There's a tent city at the end of the street, and you'd often pass someone ranting randomly. However, nobody ever caused any trouble, but some people may feel uncomfortable. The room was tight with insufficient storage. I just kept everything in my luggage, and it wasn't the biggest deal for me as I was out and about most of the time.

I'm not sure what the negative reviews are about. I had a very pleasant stay here, the staff are great, the premier/deluxe room was large and modern with well working facilities and comfortable bed. Bathroom was great, room was very clean. Very good value for money for a short stay as the facilities are basic you'd use such place to rest your head for the night after a long day out downtown I'd stay again. Great location

The iron board was quiet small but made it work to say the least. Walls are thin but didn't bother me too much. Only mirror available was in the bathroom and no wardrobe just a few hangers

The hotel was on a quiet street in an older neighbourhood surrounded by old character homes and buildings. I love older homes as they each have a story to tell. The hotel itself inside was cozy, clean and updated. It has a nice common room in the front.

The only thing I would mention is the bathtub in one of the rooms had no non-slip coating so my friend could not have a shower or bath. I found the tub slippery. It might be that they are upgrading the facilities as the sink was new. When booking, if you require special accommodations regarding shower safety, ask for a room that has a walk in shower, or non-slip coating.

The place is super cute and the two young men who were working the reception desk were exceptionally helpful and nice. There was a espresso machine in the room!!! While the location was in a rougher part of the town, we had no issues getting around by foot (we went all over downtown! for hours). The Inn is conveniently located, maybe 35 min walk from the Union Station, and maybe 12-15 min walk from the Young- Dundas Square.

I think the location of the Inn is a bit unfortunate as it seemed we were in a little rougher part of town but we had no issues at all. So I guess just be ready to see many less-fortunate people in the neighbourhood. Again, we had no issues with anyone but coming from a small town, we just weren’t used to so much poverty…visible poverty.

The staff is super friendly and kind. We loved the room and were not expecting it to be that nice and modern. Would definitely stay here again. Beds were so comfortable, there are amenities in the toilet and even an iron, wardrobe, hangers, and a mirror with speakers in the toilet, a refrigerator, coffee machine in the room etc. The place is well located and at a walking distance from the downtown. We did not have to take the metro once. The neighborhood is not as sketchy as stated in the reviews from other customers, it is safe.

You can clearly hear the steps from rooms over you and the chatting and TV from the rooms next to yours. There is also some kind of machine at night that activates intermittently and makes a lot of noise. There is no daily room service to arrange your beds or change your towels.

This is such a cute little boutique hotel! They have really updated it and made it look like a cute little apartment, rather than a hotel room! The bed was SO COMFORTABLE! better than mine at home! Our room had a Nespresso coffee maker as well, much better than a Keurig or typical coffee maker. Very beautiful bathroom. Rooms have Roku TV. Great A/c. Great location, nothing bad to say about this hotel!

The only thing that *does* suck is the parking situation, but that's obviously not the hotels fault! There is a public parking lot right on the corner for $20 overnights, so not bad :) I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The staff were great, very welcoming and the perfect balance of friendly and non-intrusive. We were greeted warmly on each arrival, they were helpful whenever asked for assistance.

Everything went quite well; it is a small independent hotel, so expect it to have the charm and problems of an older well kept building. The room was a bit warm when we arrived, and took a bit to cool off, so we went for a drink. The neighbourhood isn't wealthy, so expect some transients in the neighbourhood.

The facilities are well located to walk around much of downtown Toronto, clean, and comfortable. I asked if we could check in earlier than the listed time. The staff not only found a way to let us check in earlier but upgraded our room. They were always friendly and went out of their way to support us. My girlfriend and I walked all around Downtown Toronto from the Inn at all hours and were able to access museums, great shopping (including the Eaton Centre nearby), and restaurants nearby. Thank you and I look forward to staying there again if I'm in the area!

Downtown Toronto is full of homeless people. Most will not bother you but a small subset can be aggressive and even dangerous. This is not a criticism of the property but something to keep in mind when staying in Downtown Toronto.
