Holiday Inn Gloucester - Cheltenham, an IHG Hotel

Breakfast was all that we expected on a breakfast and evening dinner meal deal. Certainly enough fuel for the day. The evening dinner menu (3 courses) was basic for an all inclusive deal but was adequate for our 3 nights stay. Longer, and the menu would have been a bit samey. However, in no way were we disappointed, as the food was delicious. The room was adequate for the two of us but would have felt a little on the small side for a longer stay. The bed was very comfortable and the air con was easy to control. The gym was adequate for a small hotel and the pool was too, except the shallow end, which was very shallow and my partner bumped his knees on the bottom of the pool several times. However, we're not complaining, as one soon gets used to different pools. The staff were superb, each and every one of them, reception, restaurant and cleaning staff, and the hotel was spotless.

We felt a bit uncomfortable when the restaurant staff, on more than one occasion, queried our dining status, stating it was unusual for 3 nights guests to receive 3 dinners, as normally these bookings would include only 1 evening dinner. We mentioned that we booked through booking.com and the meal deal was for all 3 nights. However, the next time we visited the restaurant, the staff worked with a printed list of guests with room numbers and dining preferences, so we felt a little more comfortable then. The food was delicious but the waiting time in between the courses was sometimes lengthy. But again, we're not complaining, as the staff were very busy and the food was worth waiting for.

The hotel is well located just outside Gloucester on the main road network between Gloucester and Cheltenham. It has ample parking outside and an attractive modern airy appearance. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is modern and spacious with a pleasant bar and restaurant area. There is a leisure centre with swimming pool and gym although we did not have the opportunity to try it. Our bedroom was small but well equipped and very clean and comfortable.

The buffet breakfast at extra charge was a bit disappointing. The cooked food had clearly been kept hot for a while and was rather dry and the pastries also. Most hotels these days offer some cooked food to order, eg poached eggs, but not so here.

Not your fault, but door of room opposite was constantly banging and people talking outside of our door. Think they were Japanese or something similar. Also, went out the door to be met by a bounding dog,running along the corridor, with owner screaming after it, followed by a bigger dog doing the same. Not a word of apology from the owner. Could have knocked somebody over if they had limited balance. Think dogs ended up in dining area during breakfast. Never experienced anything similar before. Really wonder why hotel accepts dogs. Not impressed with that.

Great hotel, absolute bargain. Group of 4 friends just have a little catch-up weekend away . Went for the package including dinner, excellent value. Food was lovely, 3 courses. Shout out to Natasha in the resteraunt who worked her socks off and accommodated our requests despite there being a coachload of ladies in ! . Laura on reception was lovely, very welcoming , friendly and helpful . In fact all of the staff were excellent throughout . Breakfast was full range of hot and cold Massive beds , the leisure area has a small pool at a good temperature, sauna , steam room , and a lovely hot jacuzzi - perfect!

Typical Holiday Inn room. Large television screen. Correct bathroom but a little small. Breakfast ok. Hotel located on the outskirts of Gloucester which allows you to visit the city (15 minutes drive), visit the Costwolds, or dine Chetenham near the center.

The first night we arrived late and had dinner in the hotel restaurant. After more than half an hour after placing our order we were told they didn't have one of the dishes we had (chicken curry). Half an hour later they brought us a chicken wrap that was all lettuce with no dressing. We sent it back and shared the other dish which was also nothing special. In the end the restaurant manager was so uncomfortable that he only charged us for the drinks. We did not go back.

I stayed at this property with my sister and mum as a weekend getaway. We all shared one room and it was extremely spacious and clean, none of us felt cramped and the beds were very comfy. We utilised the spa, which was spacious again, and easy to access, with towels and lockers provided. The property itself was gorgeous from the inside out, but with tables and chairs outside and modern decor inside. The location was also fantastic, with a short drive to the shopping centre. Starbucks was also available in the hotel, which was delicious.

No complaints! The hotel was great.

The rooms were clean, the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good, hot and amazing. The kids room was so good, the single sofa bed was amazing and very comfortable. Definitely coming back.

The room service team did not change our under sheet the next day which was a put off. Also try to makesure the toilets and changing rooms at the pool side are clean considering most people especially kids love walking around bare foot when they go for swimming. Can you also try to have a separate eating area as well as separate rooms especially for those with dogs. Also put fridges in all rooms please 🙏.

Very accommodating, lovely helpful and friendly, we stayed with dogs and they went out of their way to make them welcome, gave them water in the bar and sausages at breakfast. We also had a toddler with us and they went to get a highchair as soon we they saw us headed to the bar/restaurant area, we asked for a cot bed and she was a little big for it so I asked at reception to make the sofa bed up and there was no issue and went to do it as soon as I asked. All I would say is if you like a firm pillow then bring your own from home.

Room was lovely, comfortable and spotless. Staff were all very pleasant and efficient.

The location was industrial not a too expensive taxi fare from town as no shuttle or public transport. A walk in shower would have been better and safer. Contemporary decor very nice but clinical like a hospital a def. In, out hotel not warm and welcoming in style. Staff were lovely. We have used Holiday Inn before (not this one) doubt if we will return to this one. Ok for airport or buisiness.

Room size for the 3 of us and 2 dogs was great, the room was quiet/soundproofed well and felt recently upgraded. Breakfast was a great spread, full English with fruits/pastries/drinks. Pool facilities were well maintained, all functioning pool/jacuzzi/sauna/steam room. Overall very happy with the hotel and even better that my noisy dog was not bothering guests!

Location is a bit outside of both Gloucester/Cheltenham, so it does require a car which will charge a parking fee.
