Hotel Astoria, Best Western Signature Collection

Location of Hotel Astoria is perfect, directly next to Copenhagen Main Station to take any train or metro, but also just a 2 mins walk to Tivoli, all other city attractions also reachable by foot, I was absolutely satisfied with having this convenience at my hand. The staff were really great and helpful. What really satisfied me was a rich and tasteful breakfast offer (eggs, sausages, pancakes, salmon, pate, selection of cheeses, ham, fruits, vegetables, muesli, juices, coffee, croissants...). Finally, the hotel's 1930s design in Agatha Christie's Poirot style really distinguished it from all other hotels I was staying at before, truly great!

From time to time you can hear some buzz of the trains passing over the railways, but nothing really relevant and doesn't make any big issues, it's due to proximity of the Main Station.

Our time at the Hotel Astoria was even more special then I could have ever imagined. The architecture and ambiance particularly resonated with us, and we appreciated the rich history of the property. All of the decorative touches in the room, from the brass banker’s lamp to the once-upon-a-time “uniform door” that was preserved made our stay memorable. The hotel manager, Mikkel, is superb and attentive - along with Oliver (service manager) and the kind gentleman who oversees the breakfast with such pride and care. Mikkel also approved a special room request that we made in advance, which was very much appreciated. Excellent hospitality and genuine interest. The hotel location is wonderfully convenient, a stone’s throw to central station. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautifully assembled breakfast options together each morning. Our four night visit in Copenhagen will always be in our hearts, primarily because of our time at Hotel Astoria. We will return! Thanks again. - Shannon & Dominic (New York)

No complaints whatsoever. Do keep in mind that the close proximity to the train station could be an issue for some, though we found that the train “rumbling” added to our overall experience and did not disrupt our sleep at all!

I stayed at Hotel Astoria twice (June 6-June 8, 2023, and June 21-June 22, 2023). It is a historical building so it is not modern in any way, no air conditioning in hotel rooms so I ordered a fan ahead of my arrivals. However, the lobby has a nice seating area and the hotel serves an unlimited buffet breakfast for 4-1/2 hours with good, delicious, and nutritious foods. Hotel Astoria is a short walk from the train station if you want to take the train from Copenhagen airport. You get off on the third train stop. To exit the train station to go to Hotel Astoria, find the McDonald’s and Starbucks, and exit there. You will find lots of parked bicycles outside, and you will see the hotel name right away. It costs only 30 cents one way to ride the train, but make sure you ask someone at which track number to go to - it can be tricky. Better yet, if you can download the train App, it’s better. There are places to eat and places to buy groceries in the train station, if you want to save money. For Hop On Hop Off tour buses, walk to another hotel nearby; ask the Front Desk for the name of that hotel because I forgot. I rode City Sightseeing; the Front Desk told me Red Sightseeing is a better choice - I didn’t know. Tivoli Garden is across the train station on the front side of the train station.

Expensive. Hotel rooms and elevators are small. The hotel room door was very tricky to me at first, but I learned to lock it properly with the help of 2 front desk employees. Simply stated, just close your hotel door from the inside; it automatically locks; Do Not use your door key to lock your door - You will regret it!

Excellent breakfast, friendly and accommodating staff, coffee / tea / fresh fruits available in the lobby at all times. Location convenient near central station. Comfortable beds, clean rooms. Building has nice and unique historical touches. Television has a streaming function so you can watch comfortably from your phone if you want.

Rooms are cleaned only upon request, that was not clear to me when booking. Location is immediately above the train tracks and therefore rather noisy, if you’re a light sleeper this is surely bothersome (I’m an easy sleeper and it wasn’t an issue to me at all, but definitely something to consider upon booking).

Outstanding location only a stumble away from Hovedbanegård, which is the public transport hub of Copenhagen. Has a wingéd railway wheel on the roof! The history and character of the building has been retained while modernising the facilities where appropriate. Didn't clean your room unless you requested it the night before. I think this is totally fine. I can use the same sheets for a couple of days.

There was a lot of noise at the front of the building, primarily from trains going to and from Hovedbanegård in a cutting across the road, but also from people yelling and cars hooting while accessing the station - at all hours. It was okay with the (double-glazed) window closed, but this is not a hotel for light sleepers or those who need total silence. Possibly this would be less of a problem for the rooms at the back of the building.

The hotel is very nice. It's located right next to the main railway/metro station, so it's easy to reach. There's a tourist street 5 min. from there. Rooms are relatively small, but that seems to be typicall for this country. Our room was clean. Atmosphere at the hotel is very nice, the interior is beautiful. The front door can be opened only by card/staff, so it felt safe. Breakfast is good. There's also free coffee and tea available at the reception at any time. The staff was extremely nice!

In the winter they should put extra blankets in the room just in case. The streets around the hotel are probably loud in the summer, so the hotel offers ear-plugs. We traveled in February and it was quiet.

I appreciated having coffee and tea available if the lobby and also enjoying am evening drink with other visitors who were new acquaintants.

The outside of the hotel was dirty, unappealing with garbage all around, plants in the planters almost dead; one oof the planters broken with no plant became a giant ash tray. It was a very bad introduction to where I would stay. The bathrooms have spray all over for showers or tubs that have very high sides to climb into for a shower. The mat they gave me just slid around and offered no safe base. Showering in this hotel a major hassle.

The place is as amazingly central as could be. We spent nothing on any added transport besides what we had planned. Trains, open bus, tours are all right there. The breakfast is amazing and that is a super big plus in cologne expensive Copenhagen. We planned our trips so that we made some little coffee stops at the hotel and enjoyed the free coffee and fruit facility in reception lounging on the vintage armchairs and watching people pass by. The hotel itself manages to transport you back in time with love to detail and lots of nice old photos. The staff is superfriendly and the attached Pizzeria a big asset.

Location is great and most of the touristy spots/ landmarks are within walking distances. Hotel Astoria is a stone throw away from the Central Station, travelling from/ to the Airport is just a short 30minute journey by train! My boyfriend and I were staying at Hotel Astoria between 20-22nd January 2023 - I must say the staff (Oliver and the other man who has dark hair, I am sorry that I did not catch his name) were both so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble! The breakfast was great and offered both hot food and cold food options. I am a big fan of the 24/7 lobby service with complementary tea and coffee!

I like that Hotel Astoria is very environmentally aware and we were happy to reuse the towels provided. After my first night stay, I realised the shower gel in the dispenser had run out half way through my shower - it would be nice if the friendly housekeeping staff could check those little things before our checkin. But again, this is very minor thing!

Location was perfect, right next to the main train station and metro. The interior design was really cool, sort of vintage, but also modern :) Breakfast had good variety. - scrambled eggs, sausages, fruits, pancakes, yogurt, pastries and so on. We had an welcome drink and bottle of water for the road when we checked out. The staff was really nice (specially Daniel who was in touch with us via Booking - thanks!), we arrived way before time of the check-in and at that day it was possible for us to already go to our room (we were not counting on it, and we did really appreciate it!). Also, they clean the room only upon request, and there’s a system if you don’t want them to replace the towels etc which is good for the environment.

No air conditioner in the room (it was pretty hot when we visited), just a fan. For the iron we had to ask in the reception. Could provide little things in the bathroom as shower cap, cotton pads etc (always make the life of a traveller easier)
