The hotel looks like a postcard. In fact, there are plenty of tourists who enter the courtyard just to make a photo. The hotel also serves as a restaurant during lunchtime and as a tearoom in the afternoon. We arrived around noon and had a most enjoyable lunch there. The breakfast consists of tea/coffee/chocolate, fresh orange juice, a croissant, a baguette, youghurt and jams. We were also offered some camembert cheese (probably to remind that it's the capital of Normandy :) The rooms are basic, but everything works, and the room is warm (an important thing in December!). The staff is super nice and welcoming.

There is only one downside that you need to be aware of - the building is quite old and the walls are thin, so you will always hear the conversation in the next room. During the night you will know if your neighbors go to bathroom and whether or not their bathroom door is creaky.

We had a wonderful stay and if we ever travel back to Rouen this will be where we want to stay. The staff was so warm and welcoming and answered several of our questions. They were able to accommodate our early arrival and the rooms were so charming. The location is very near many restaurants, shopping, and we were able to walk to all of the main tourists sites we wanted to see. The breakfast was amazing. The coffee, the fresh orange juice, the croissants, etc... it was exactly what you think a French breakfast should be.

The only downside for us was that we struggled to find parking and Rouen is not an easy city to drive in. However, the hotel had sent us directions on a parking lot close to them, but we just couldn't seem to find it. The hotel is also not handicap (at least we didn't see that it was) accessible. However, they were able to accommodate my older parents on the second floor, so they didn't have as many stairs to climb.

The atmosphere and location of this old coaching inn, hundreds of years old, was wonderful. It was a totally French experience. The rooms surround the courtyard, approached from a pedestrian-only street (No cars, so human voices sound louder!). Breakfast is brought to you by the owner at your table. Again, a totally French breakfast, with very fresh croissant and baguette, organic butter, jams and yogurt. With its central location, all the main sights and the train station are within 10 minutes walk.

It was a bit noisy at the weekend, but closing the double-glazed windows kept most of the sound out.

A little gem in the centre of the city. It was a perfect little piece of France. Very arty and quirky decor, a beautiful peaceful little courtyard where you could get tea and a very nice Continental breakfast with proper local produce- not a plastic pot of jam or pre wrapped butter pat in sight! Rouen itself is delightful. You can spend hours just wandering round the medieval streets and delighting in the different coloured buildings.

It was a wonderful old property so some of the fittings were a little “rusty”.

The hotel was classic French shabby chic which we like. The location was right in the centre of the city. Everything was in walking distance. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was good and the public spaces, indoors and in the courtyard, were always available and comfortable.

Our room was very basic indeed, for example the hair dryer and kettle were only available on request (but they were available).

Convenient location in walking distance to the sights of the city. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. You enter through a cute courtyard with a cafe but the rooms are there too. The room was small and simple and the bathroom was spacious enough. The gate is locked in the evening so make sure you get the code if you go out for dinner. The WiFi was ok.

Lack of electrical outlets in the room.

The most striking characteristic about this hotel Is how charming it is from the courtyard all the way to your room. Very European and visually appealing. The location is perfect for Rouen and the breakfast is a typical French breakfast and reasonably priced. The room was very clean, large enough and comfortable. The price - perfect.

The weather was hot for Rouen and the room was too warm for comfort. Requested a fan and after some hesitation and more encouragement from me, received one - a small one with low power. It was enough after a cold shower to sleep comfortably with the windows wide open. I would suggest that higher power fans be made available to those guests who prefer a cool setting.

The hotel is charming and in a great location in the center of Rouen - the parking at the Palais du Justice was close by and convenient. The reception and restaurant was really cute, the service was good and the breakfast was delicious. The location was super central but the place with its nice garden is like a hidden gem in it.

It is my second time staying at Le Vieux Carre and I knew what to expect - narrow stairs, no lift, smaller and basic rooms. Still I like the atmosphere and although the rooms need refreshment/ upgrade, the stay here is something special.

Great Central location (for foot travellers anyway - not sure what the parking would be like). Cheap and cheerful basic hotel. Clean and comfortable small en-suite room. Helpful staff. Didnt eat there but breakfast looked perfectly fine. Plenty of cafes etc immediately nearby.

Steep narrow stairs and no lift so wouldn't be suitable for restricted mobility

Was a really fantastic quirky gem of a budget hotel in center of Rouen. The staff were fab. We had dog with us which was welcome. It was very cheap for price. The breakfast was excellent. We only stayed a day but wish we'd stayed longer.

The room was small and basic but I would not expect more for the low price. Everything was clean so cannot really complain.
