Can't beat the location. Comfortable, quiet room. Rouen was a surprisingly fun place to visit. There wasn't much in the guide books besides Jean D'Arc and the cathedral but the old town was fun to explore and we had a very nice lunch in a cafe on the square.

We didn't appreciate the lecture about booking with Booking.com. Apparently if we had contacted the hotel directly we would have gotten a better deal. So, it was OK to use Booking.com to check for availability but don't book through them was the message we got--especially if we were members of the Accor hotel "Club"? We got into the old town OK using the code to lower the bollard but parking at the hotel was very, very tight. I had to make a multiple point turn just to get into and out of the parking space and we had a small car. After the lecture, we decided to skip the pricy breakfast--it would have been free if we contacted the hotel directly instead of using Booking.com.

The location (although it's pretty tricky to drive to) is the main reason to stay at this Mercure. If you get an inside (courtyard) room you'll also find it very quiet, which is vital for ventilation as you will find out! The underground secure parking was really useful to us.

Mercure hotels can be really great (like in Délemont) or terrible or somewhere in between like this one. Here the gripe is misleading promotion. The picture shown is of a gorgeous medieval timbered building. It's not that, it's an ugly concrete (70s?) building which luckily is quite tucked away - so incongruous right next to the Cathedral! Secondly it claims to be airconditioned - it's not, or rather most of the time it isn't. They only turn on the AC during the height of the summer so if you get a really hot day in May (as we had) or September, you will roast! Rooms small and the shower within the small bath which I always find potentially dangerous. No drinking water provided in the room.

This was the perfect location, being a few feet away from the magnificent Cathedral in Rouen and right in the middle of the historic centre. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, I felt I had stepped back in time, when good customer service was considered normal. Their attitude contributed to our wonderful stay. The room was comfortable and had all those items one once considered normal like hooks, shelf space and unit around the sink in the bathroom. Plus a shower head that one could move! Sadly nowadays many hotels miss these simple items! (even bathroom walls have been removed in some hotels!!! ) We also enjoyed a delicious pizza and glass of wine lunch time whilst waiting for our taxi.

This is an excellent central hotel within close walking distance of all the important sites of interest and restaurants in Rouen. The rooms are very comfortable and we had one with a balcony which looked towards the beautiful cathedral. The style tends towards the minimalist but the room did have a fridge/minibar as well as TV and WiFi but note that the WiFi is an open system and not secure. Breakfast in the bar each morning was excellent. Apart from the parking difficulties I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

There is parking available below ground but the difficulty is finding the access to it because of the one-way systems in Rouen. We ended up parking in the Cathedral car park for the couple of days we were there but the Tarif is the same. The disadvantage of this is that of having to drag suitcases etc. the 500 or 600 metres to the hotel. There is no restaurant in the hotel but plenty within walking distance.

Very nice start to our holiday in France. Good trip from Calais to Rouen. Only issue is that it is a bit tricky getting to it in the old quarter but if you persist and find it the location is great for all access to tourist attractions. It is a comfortable hotel and nice breakfast. Rooms are a bit small but adequate. Parking in nearby NCP is good once you have figured it out.

Just a bit tricky to figure out how to reach it but once we realised we did fine. Be better if parking was at the hotel but the NCP was just a stones throw away.

Location was great. Center of old town. Steps to church. Hotel was nice,

Hotel is in center of old town where streets are closed to autos. Hotel does have on site parking but PHONE for instructions to get to parking. Email gives only the location of a “gate” to open to get to the hotel. BUT you need the code to open the gate. Gate is a cylindrical steel device that rises out of the street to stop traffic. Code allows the device to drop to street level to allow cars to pass. Also make sure parking spots are available before driving to onsite parking. Everything is close so maybe better choice to park elsewhere.

The efficiency and friendliness of the staff was very much appreciated. We were fascinated at being told that the three steps up to the bar/breakfast are were covered by a lift, when none was obvious. We were then very surprised to watch a lift rise from the floor - we had only ever seen.one before and quite forgotten what fun it was! The wet room was much appreciated too.

The cobbles in town (we know thats not your responsibility) No information about the use and codes of the 'Borne.

Amazing location in the city center. On the shopping street within minutes, and an easy walk to the historical center and cathedral. Room was a good size and very clean. Mini fridge for use and nice big television. Big bed with extra blankets and pillows available in the room. Underground hotel parking was available and used- though VERY tight. It was easy to maneuver in our Peugeot 107, but other full-sized sedans would have issue (they are up front about this and do offer warning as well as parking alternatives)

very minor- Not a great view from our room

help from reception staff, especially on final morning cheerful atmosphere from breakfast room staff every day; good choice of food at breakfast; simple drinks machines; high standard of cleanliness everywhere. central location in the fascinating old town, near Cathedral

an unexplained increase in room costs from the sums quoted at time of booking. We paid the bill without commenting on this.

Once we found the place all went well.

The directions to the Hotel need to be more specific. It is in a pedestrian area so to get there by car needs explicit instructions. We drove round for over 45 minutes trying to find the way in and ended up parking in a public car park remote from the Hotel and then having to carry our bags over cobbled areas. The Hotel also promised us a discount on the Public Parking but this was refused by the CP Attendant. Fortunately it was not raining during our entry and exit from the Hotel. The Hotel blamed Booking.com for the lack of information.
