The staff was great. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate, and I liked that they had the small "beer" pretzels and veal sausage. The room 202 was fine for one person, maybe small for 2, but nicely appointed. It faced the street. There was good street food south of the hotel. The hotel has a policy to not perform room service (make beds, change towels, etc.) - which was fine by me. If I needed a new towel or other supplies, they were available in the hall. Hotel does have an elevator. 45-minute ride from München-Flughafen on the S1 or S8 S-Bahn to the Hauptbahnhof (Munich Hbf) rail station. 13 euros. When going back to the airport, make sure you get on the rear cars of the S1 train - because it will split at Neufahrn; the front cars will continue to Freising; the rear cars will continue to the airport. S8 goes direct based on what I researched. Walkable to Marienplatz and other center city attractions.

Unfortunately, there is a major construction project going on across the street, and it is noisy during work hours. There is not much the Metropol can do about it. I suspect this construction will be going on throughout the rest of the year based on what I saw. Some of the ethnic neighborhoods several streets south of the hotel might bother some folks but I found the street food available at them to be wonderful, including the variety of doner kabob available.

excellent breakfast, probably the best we have had in Europe, great staff - super friendly and helpful, clean property and highly organised. the room has everything you need. right from little things like tissue box, a hair dryer with volume attachment to two sided tvs (one facing sofa and one facing bed). enough space to keep luggage and unpack your stuff. excellent shower in the bathroom . a special mention to Thomas at the reception, who is just such a nice friendly person , always helpful. this guy understands what service means! (which sadly a lot of staff in European hotels don’t) . He was warm and helping us out with tips around the city , booked our cab, cleared up our bill in like 2 mins. just a lovely person and an asset to this hotel :) (not that the other staff wasn’t good, they are all are really nice) location is perfect with walking distance from central station and old town.

the only negative is the waitress lady at the breakfast wasn’t very welcoming or friendly, gave weird looks to people and kept looking at people’s plates. at first we thought it’s for clearing empty plates from the tables but it wasn’t even that. she only cleared up after people would leave. it made me really uncomfortable. looked like she was judging what and how much everyone was picking from the buffet :/

Everything was clean and well maintained. We appreciated the midway cleaning serving half way through our 6 night stay. The room was quiet and the AC worked great. The location was a quick walk to the train station and about a 10 minute walk to the start of old town.

The internet was very spotty at times to the point where we couldn’t stream videos on the TV some nights. Also, there was some confusion about breakfast. One staff member told me you could just show up to breakfast and charge it to your room and when we showed up, it seemed like we were supposed to reserve ahead of time. The staff member seating us seemed a little irritated at us just showing up. The breakfast was good, and there were plenty of tasty choices, but we chose other places after that. It is pretty expensive for breakfast and there’s lots of breakfast choices in the train station. If you want a sit down buffet breakfast, do try the hotel’s.

We had a wonderful six night stay at the Metropol. We chose this hotel for its proximity to the train station. True enough, it was a short 5 minute walk, easily done with our cases. Our room was a Junior Suite, intended to provide us with plenty of space for our week in Munich. The room exceeded our expectations: it was bright and comfortable, and the room divider (a large TV on either side) was fantastic. We made frequent use of the sitting area during our stay. The hotel staff were friendly and ever-helpful, and we appreciated the opportunity to top up towels or bathroom supplies from the 2nd floor landing, in between room services. There were many restaurants, shops and chemists in the area, including budget options in the railway station. It was about a 20-25-30 minute walk to Marienplatz, and about 20 minutes to the Gray Line depot, from whence we took two day tours, and the Hop On, Hop Off tour. I've no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Breakfast was decent, and gluten free bread was available, however unfortunately it wasn't Schar, and not super-nice. Nevertheless, I appreciated the effort.

Quite simply an absolutely lovely experience from start to finish. From the genuinely warm welcome at check in, to a complimentary upgrade to a suite we felt right at home the second we arrived. The suite itself was delightful, and we made great use of the small sitting area and bluetooth Marshall speaker. All the staff, from receptionists, breakfast room team to cleaners were exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional, and this genuinely is a family business - Herr & Frau Maier would appear most mornings during breakfast to great guests and keep the staff on their toes! The breakfast selection is thorough, including cereals, continental meats and cheese, fresh fruit, a small hot selection and an excellent array of breads and baked goods. The hotel is in an excellent location too, just minutes from the Haupbanhof central rail station, and 25 minutes walk from Marienplatz

Only one very small pillow per person didn't give my head much support at night - alas it only occured to me that I should have asked at reception and no doubt more would have been provided.

The room was spacious and offered the ability for you to cast streaming services to the tv which was fantastic as we didn’t speak German. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The aircon was extremely efficient considering the heat of Munich while we were staying. Breakfast had plentiful options and plenty of seats. The room had a nice balcony you could sit on and enjoy and the property was conveniently located really close to the Munich main station.

To try and be more sustainable they did not come and clean the room daily which we understood, but as we were staying for 5 days rubbish in the room piled up a bit. We realised near the end of the stay that we could have organised a someone to come and tend to the room once while we were there, it would have been great if that was communicated to us during check in.

The hotel staff were really nice and welcoming, they were always available via messaging to help me with the late check in process. The rooms were spacious and clean, the shower is very nice as well. The AC was working very well which we appreciated since it was very hot outside. The hotel is located a 2 minute walk from an entrance to the Munich central station, so it was convenient for me as I needed to get to multiple different areas of the city each day. There is a Lidl supermarket nearby as well. The complimentary coffee and tea was a great addition and breakfast is great too!

The WiFi isn’t working very well. It wasn’t that bad on my phone, I just had to keep disconnecting and reconnecting, but I needed to connect to my work via my laptop and it was not possible at all. If you are just going on vacation I would recommend this hotel a lot, but if you need to get work done it could be a little difficult.

The property was small, the lobby was welcoming and the building was immaculate. My room was attractive, but simple. The green wall paper and green shag carpeting in the hallways reminded me of a 70s style motel. There were lots of hangers to hang clothes on a rod, a few shelves and no drawers. There was a fridge which was nice. I was able to control the air conditioning in the room. I appreciated the brown out curtains and comfortable bed. I was glad that the location was only a few minutes from the main train station, and in walking distance to the old town. The coffee station in the lobby was a real treat. Every member of staff that I encountered was pleasant and kind.

There are lots of windows in each room but rusty bars across the bottom of the windows. I wish they had been painted, because the view when opening the curtains was unpleasant. The tiles in the shower are smooth and very slippery when wet. The hotel is located on a side street where there is construction everywhere. The streets right near the hotel are rundown and littered. I was not completely comfortable walking there at night. I guess you can expect this near a train station. However, if you keep walking, you will reach much more attractive neighbourhoods.

The location was a big plus. The breakfast wasn’t included in the price it but was excellent although pricey.

Having booked a more costly bigger room we found ourselves in a normal smaller room at the rear of the building overlooking the yard. They said it was because of the noisy building work opposite in the front of the building. Although the building opposite had been gutted and was a shell no building work happened while we was there. The room was comfortable with a good shower and bed although the pillows were poor quality.

The location is perfect. Just opposite central station. We didn't prefer to be close to Marienplatz, but also wanted to easily reach there. This hotel was perfect in that sense. Very easy to reach everywhere in Munich. 15 - 20 minutes walk to many nice places and can reach anywhere from Central Station easily. Just one minute walk to or from the S-Bahn to/from the airport. The room was very good in size and clean, very clean that we had no problem feeling comfortable about cleanliness. Bed was comfortable. Didn't have breakfast from the hotel, so can not comment on that.

The bathroom was a little bit small. Fine for my wife, little small for me. But not that much of a problem.
