The location gives ease of road access from the airport and to support long days exploring beautiful Iceland by car. The hotel has a room only format, which suited us as we were out early am until the end of our day.. weather permitting! The Hotel uses a remote code entry for communal/room door access. The communication relating to this worked smoothly as the email communication was clear with a video attached to explain the process further, which helps. There are generally no staff seen in person when on site and the only down side is there isnt better external comfortable areas to sit outside of your own room. The downstairs entry area has a settee and x2 chairs -this could do with being set up differently with additional seating being offered as this would provide a different space to see others or support playing of games (if you have a 9 yr old like us in tow). However, it’s just a shame there is a noted damp type smell on every entry to this communal area that could also spoil this. For the price it was as we expected - The quadruple room on the second floor was clean, had a couch, coffee machine and kettle, fridge, television and a level access shower. Please note it is possible to park in front of hotel or road outside - we used car when exploring the local area for ease to amenities and to support access to local tourist sites - you can find local restaurants near Hilton and supermarket at the end of Armuli road. Perfect spot/hotel to use as a “rest your head’ at the end of busy day exploring.

We were very pleasantly surprised when we got to our room,it was very clean and very modern,perfect size for 3 people sharing. The price of the hotel was much much cheaper than most in Reykjavik and this is probably due to it not having a bar and being self check in neither of which we minded. Finding the hotel and check in all went very smoothly,there are lots of restaurants close by and the walk into Reykjavik was only about 25 minutes which we really enjoyed especially in the snow. If you are looking for somewhere close to eat Head to Borg 29 food court only 15 minutes away great food and very well priced.We would definitely stay in the Alva again and I will be recommending it to friends and Family.

Modern with facilities. It's one of the newer hotels outside Reykjavík city centre. For the price is much better then the expensive ones in the city centre which look out dated / from the past. Also self check in is excellent if you don't want to see the staff or just wat to do everything on your own. I don't see the staff at all when I stay, but for me that's fine. One of the less times I give 5 start to an hotel ;)

The flybus when going from and getting to airport don't stop at this hotel. You have to take somewhere else, in my case Hilton Reykjavik Nordica.

Hotel Alva was a nice hotel! I would say this was the nicest stay we had during our trip to Iceland. It was kinda sketchy to find but once we found it, it was obvious. The front lobby was under construction, I assume it will be very nice once it is finished. The rooms were very nicely updated for sure! The decors and cleanliness was great! Putting in the codes to our room was always tough, it was hyper sensitive so it took the wrong codes every time and we were locked out once bc of this. Otherwise, it was an easy check in, we liked the nearby stores and it was very close to Reykjavík town. Would recommend!

The location was perfect, close to the Hilton, where I was attending a conference. While the hotel is accommodation only, I was delighted to have tea/coffee making facilities & some fruit included. Access to the hotel was straightforward. The centre of Reykjavik is about 30mins walk. I would definitely recommend staying here. I met met 2 of the staff who were servicing the rooms & they were very friendly. Most importantly, the bus stops very close to the hotel, about 2min walk

The only thing I would suggest is that when the room is being serviced, that the Delphi (cups etc) could be replaced with clean ones.

That I was staying an couple of days in your hotel and I had one day extra and you had still place ;) Also great modern hotel with modern facilities. Much better then the expensive ones in Reykjavik city centre which look a lot of times outdated or double the price. Self check in also excellent, I prefer that as an solo traveller.

The room was nicely decorated, and beds were comfortable. It's centrally located (next to the Hilton) but you will need a car as it is not within walking distance from the main sites.

We stayed two nights here but in different rooms and in the first room there was no shampoo. Also, there is no reception and we had difficulties putting in the code to the front door. Also, the lobby is still under construction and there is a fishy smell (perhaps from the cafe next door?) When it's snowing, I would be careful at the front landing outside of the hotel as it is very slippery. We would stay here again as the value was good.

Quietness in hotel (not the sound carried from other rooms, big window of my room, capsule coffee machine, not having unnecessary cleaning off the room daily but items available on request.

Not big thing but one of the fruits (apple) in room on my arrival was all ready gone, even though other was well appreciated after long day of travel. So maybe checking them between stays would be good. Bathroom counter behind sink is pealing and layers are coming off. Not a problem for me but easily causing damp problems.

The quality of the rooms and finishing were exceptional for the price point. The fittings and fixures along with the cleanliness were outstanding. Price. For the size and quality of the room, the price point is appealing and represents good value for money Location is also fairly good. Bus stops are nearby and a few places to eat. Island hotel and the hilton in armuli 5 are known to all the tour operators - even if Alva hotel is not. The kitchen areas had utensils and plates - which was very helpful. TV and entertainment was very good

1. Lack of receptionist. So on our arrival our code didn't work. We used the intercom who received our call straight away. We were let in and fortunately the code to our room worked. It would be nice to have a face to speak to (I see there is a reception desk in the lobby which was unmanned) for any quiries especially when arriving to a new country. 2. Smell in the lobby - there was a clear odour in the lobby - which I suspect is from the restaurant next door. 3. Odour from the water - the water also had an odour but was clean. Perhaps this is something the hotel can look into. 4. Lack of microwave - this would have helped al lot in the kitchenette!

The room was spacious and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the location and walkability to surrounding points of interest. The bathroom was Luxurious and well-appointed, this flowed into the room with beautiful lighting and material selection that enhanced the feeling of comfort within the room. The addition of universal wall sockets was a beautiful touch.

It would have been nice to be able to use the stairs for egress, as during peak times the lift was unsatisfactory only being able to carry two people and their luggage at once. We enjoyed the location, however can see that there would be others that weren't so keen on the 20min walk to the city centre.
