From the moment you come to Hotel Lotus you can tell the owner (María) cares about her hotel. Everything is designed with a purpose - from the lighting in the room (tinting to red in the evenings) to the amenities in the room to the decorations. She is also on hand in the mornings for breakfast, which is also quite good and more to the Icelandic style of breakfast than the more touristy hotels, which we prefer. Very spacious rooms, very clean and comfortable. Most like the only place we will stay if we need a spot in the capital.

Everything was great, the only thing that could possibly be a concern is location. And that is if you want to be right downtown. But for us personally it was super close to everything while not being embedded in the noise and bustle of Laugavegur and the surrounding streets, trying to find a parking spot, etc...Just to mention you do have restaurants and grocery store (Netto) that are walkable, so the location is still nice for not being downtown.

Lovely modern and clean hotel with excellent facilities. The breakfast is a very substantial continental spread which we all enjoyed. The staff were first class throughout our stay. One of the rooms we had was a junior suite which while costing a little more, gave us somewhere to gather together. It also meant we could get takeaway pizza from the restaurant across the road which was a good money saver.

There isn't much in this area for eating/drinking out. However there is a pizza restaurant and supermarket across the street. Also, the bus to Reykjavik from outside the hotel was quick, pretty regular, on time, and reasonably priced. You can see the times, buy tickets and track the progress of the buses via the Klapp app.

When we arrived, early in the morning, the owner, Maria, escorted us to the breakfast room and invited us to enjoy breakfast, which we did. During breakfast she informed us that she had told the housekeeping staff to do cleanup on our room first so we could rest from our redeye. Before we were finished eating she told us our room was ready. So, it was a room by 11:00 instead of the regular 14:00 check in time. The room was very clean with immaculate fixtures and plenty of space for luggage and resting. We have stayed in hotels on 5 continents and have not found any that exceed the service at this one. Hotel Lotus will not disappoint. Julia also was great. Very helpful and accommodating.

Absolutely nothing.

Breakfast was exceptional - good amount of food/variety! The hotel is new, therefore rooms and facilities are modern and very clean. There is more than enough parking in front of the hotel and staff was nice enough to allow us to park even after our check-out. They were also very helpful during the breakfast. The area is very quiet at night. Overall, it reflects the review score they have on Booking.com.

The water pressure was quite low, so I could not take a nice shower after a long trip/day. I think it could be easily solved with a different shower handle. We were missing one towel, but front desk was closed and we ended up sharing. While I was fully aware of the location while booking, I do want to point out that the hotel is aprox. 30 minutes away from the Hallgrímskirkja (church).

Wow! We loved our stay. The beds were super comfy and the room always warm. Maria the owner is lovely and so friendly and helpful. The coffee and cake available all day was a life saver for us when we got back from long walks and tours. Breakfast was simple but good - coffee was so good! Would 100% stay again and recommend to all. You can walk to the city centre via one straight route or along the coast past the yellow lighthouse which was nice.

The location was not super central so needed to walk or get the bus which was fine with us! The coach tours pick you up from the hotel. Our room was on the cosy side but the owner did try to upgrade us to a bigger room but was fully booked

This hotel is a very good compromise for staying not too far away from Reykjavik down town and not paying too much for an accommodation. It is either a (long) walk to the city center or you take the bus, which stops very close to the hotel. It is not only a modern and very clean hotel with everything you need, but the host is very kind and helpful, and one can relax in the nice foyer with (free) coffee and cake. The breakfast is very good, e.g., with fresh vegetables, fruit and cake. Parking is always available in front of the hotel.

The hotel and the rooms are very stylish. The bed was really comfortable and the room had all the stuff we needed. Breakfast was amazing, especially the smoked salmon. The location of the hotel is great if you have a car. There are shops and restaurants nearby (including a large shopping mall). The city centre is a bit further away. It took us a bit more than half an hour walk to get there through the snow. Should be a lot quicker without the snow. Plus side of being a bit further from the city centre is that it's really quiet, so you'll get a really good night's sleep. One of the best parts of the stay we're the owners. They gave us some really good tips on what to see. On the day we left Reykjavik for Vik, the ringroad out of Reykjavik was closed due to heavy snowfall. Fortunately she helped us find an alternative route (with some stunning scenery) so we could still make it to Vik that day. Next time we're in Reykjavik we'll definitely be staying here again!

Small but comfortable room. There was a single bed and a desk. It had what was needed for my overnight stay. Great hospitality by the owner/host. I arrived much earlier than the check in time but they prepared the room for me and also offered me breakfast. For my early start next day, a sandwich was prepared and kept for me.

The location is a bit of long walk (30mins) to the CBD. However, there are a number of restaurants etc in close vicinity. If I had a car it would have been no problem.

Breakfast was amazing, lots of variety Icelandic types of foods. The tuna salad was so delicious. So many types of fish, marinated and smoked. No English breakfast available, but it didn't matter. The home made fresh pies were also delicious. Room was a suite, very spacious, clean and romantic. Very warm and cozy, considering we visited early March. Personnel was so nice and helpful!

The shower pressure was a bit funny at times, probably when other people were showering at the same time.

Maria is an excellent hostess! We had a non refundable rate but she was very accommodating when our flight to Iceland was cancelled due to bad weather and we arrived/stayed a day later than planned (she also upgraded us for our anniversary 😊). Breakfast was very good with plenty of options to choose from. Convenient location to shops, restaurant and main highways, and 10’ from Reykjavik city center. Will definitely stay there again next time we visit Iceland!
