The staff were all fantastic, which is not something you can say for every hotel. Be it reception, restaurant, leisure centre, night porter, all really friendly and obliging - especially in the leisure centre. The restaurant was impressive - a nice selection of meals, even vegetarian meals, and very attentive staff.

Signs for parking - both from driving out on the road and within the hotel trying to find the way out to the car park. Also, there was no-one on reception after 10pm the evening I was there. I tried ringing from my room phone but it was diverting to a mobile answering service and I hate dealing with answer machines (but this is only a minor point!) .

Staff fantastic at check in. Made sure we could order food, even though late check in. Live music in the evening in main pub bar was fantastic. Great pool. Food really good. Nice simple breakfast, buffet and menu options.

From the moment we entered the hotel lobby the atmosphere generated by the festive decorations, open log fire and friendly receptionist augered well for our coming stay. The bedroom was spacious and comfortably heated and the bed linen perfectly clean. The facilities eg. Swimming pool and leasure centre, although not availed off on this occasion are satisfactory. The food is to a very high standard and all staff most helpful and cheerfully disposed. All in all an excellent experience.

Hotel was very central. Spacious. Clean big rooms. The staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful. Vegan alternatives were provided for breakfast and finger food. Checked out late with no extra charge. Really lovely hotel with brilliant team.

No vegan options listed for lunch. It would have been good if there was at least one vegan starter and main (or even the option listed to make vegan) listed on the menu. They did accommodate me changing out ingredients though.

I came here as part of a group of 15 people. Our experience was amazing! The care and attention the staff gave us was above and beyond! Special mentions to the accommodation manager, Kay, who did so much to make our stay really special, Eadaoin at reception made us few like one of the family, and Andi, who looked after us at dinner was absolutely brilliant! Thanks so much guys!

Absolutely no complaint

All staff very friendly, from the moment you step in to reception, you are made feel most welcome. Reception staff, housekeeping staff (big shout to Beata on 2nd floor!), breakfast staff, all superb. Very hearty breakfast, tasty and all locally sourced. Top marks

Ate one night in the bar, had a long wait for food (45mins), mediocre quaity,, that was the only downside of our stay. Staff serving in the bar didnt seem too bothered.

The hotel is right in the center of the town but not noisy, the staff are very friendly and the restaurant and bar have a good selection, I ate in the hotel and the food was very good, the breakfast was one of the best I've had in quite a while. The rooms are spacious (I had a double) and very clean, one bonus is the rooms have AC which is quiet enough to have on through the night keeping it nice a cool.

The only thing is with it being an old hotel if your in the shower in room 117 and someone in room 119 flushes the toilet the water gets pretty hot....

This is a big hotel, with good quality, comfortable rooms. Very clean and recently decorated. Staff were well trained and friendly. Food is available in the bar - it's very popular with locals, so it's wise to book ahead! Breakfast is excellent and locally sourced.

The bathroom in our room was rather tired in places - very clean but needing a bit of tlc in places.

My second time staying at this hotel and just as good as the last time. Great friendly service, wonderful food and old fashioned hospitality. They have maintained all that is good in traditional service and comfort. Lovely soft furnishings in spacious bedrooms, proper glasses, fluffy towels, fresh water, tea coffee facilities with proper cups. No plastics and little touches like a butter knife standard and preserves served in little dishes at breakfast. They've seen no need to reinvent the wheel. Please don't change.

The hotel was very nice and cosy and near a very good pub. We ate in the hotel bar two nights in a row and the food was good and reasonably priced. If I have to quibble then I would say that the service was a little rushed. But to be honest this wasn't really a problem and it is far better than waiting ages. Everyone was very nice and efficient.
