I travelled to Clonakilty with my son who has a diagnosis of ASD, he was due to have an assessment early the next morning. I was nervous about the long commute down knowing that he would be tired and also, about the stay in the hotel as he struggles with sensory issues and can become overwhelmed and very anxious in different environments. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere of the hotel was so relaxing and quiet, the staff were so friendly and even chatted with him in reception, making him feel very special and welcomed. The rooms were immaculate and spacious and the beds were very comfy too. Our breakfast was perfect and again, the staff there were brilliant and made sure that we had all that we needed! The location of the hotel was ideal for where we needed to travel to the next morning, and as we were right in the middle of the town it was also close to everything else. Our only regret is that we couldn't extend our stay at the hotel to enjoy the fantastic music at the end of the evening and explore the beautiful surrounding landscape, but we look forward to visiting O'Donovans again soon!

There was honestly nothing to dislike, the hotel was lovely

It was everything I expected from a genuine Irish hotel. Everything had flair and looked like it was in the right place. The pubs and restaurants are originally Irish with live music in the evening and a great variety of drinks. The location was central, everything was in walking distance. Great day trips in the great Irish scenery. The rooms were clean and comfortable and to my surprise the hotel had an elevator. I enjoyed my stay and would book it again.

Loved the friendly staff and comfortable surroundings. I loved the library and setting area upstairs. Really nice homely and relaxing touch. The rooms was clean and tidy , bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee in the room is always handy and welcome. Loved how easily accessible everything was from dinner to the little pub out back, breakfast in the morning .really had a lovely stay. Will be back for sure.

I was desperate for a long soak in the bath but the water wouldn't heat up, sink water was hot but bath / shower only luke warm. Also, not the hotel fault but the street was crazy noisy at 6am , bin men and street sweeping etc. Not the hotels fault but something to be aware of if you need a longer sleep. ( ear plugs would have been ideal )

Genial family hotel with a lovely relaxing feel. Service was exceptional in all areas by courteous friendly people. Marie a lady there helped me out more than she realised when I had an unforeseen problem.. Thank you Marie Dog friendly and in the middle of the main street, Clonakilty is a vibrant lovely pretty town..I will definitely return...thank you for a lovely break

Nothing to dislike.. maybe the beer barrels being collected early morning...but that's a necessity, and I went back to sleep 😴

The hotel was bright and cosy. Vntage feel to the place. It was warm, inviting, cosy and and relaxing. I enjoyed sitting on the balcony drinking a cuppas. The xmas lights in the court yard was mice to look at.The Lady at reception on monday evening, I didnt get her name but she checked me in, and she was just so nice, very helpfull and a delight to talk to. Ann im the morning was kind enough to give me a take away breakfast as i didnt have time to sit. She was a friendly lady to talk to.. It was my first time to stay and i would definetly stay again.🙂

There is nothing i didnt like.🤛🤜....apart from the fact my business trip was only one night.🙂

The location is right in the middle of the main street in Clonakilty - very central; my room was very comfortable and clean and spacious - with a balcony (nice surprise) and overall had the atmosphere of grandeur and luxury; check out is 11; the hotel itself oozes charm and history and seems to be a Clonakilty institution; kettle and tea and coffee-making facilities and a nice breakfast choice...

The wifi was on restricted mode meaning I had to toggle into my own phone data (very frustrating); the water never got hot enough to take a bath - having to fill the kettle (and a bottle) multiple times with hot water from the tap and dump it into the bath to be able to enjoy a nice hot bath certainly does take away from the 'luxury atmosphere'; one of the chairs, I felt, was on the verge of breaking (quite creaky); it would be great to put net curtains on the windows as then one could appreciate natural light rather than having to pull the heavy curtains; didn't appreciate housekeeping knocking and entering before 10am (although neither the 'please make up my room' nor 'do not disturb' signs were on the door) while I was in the bathroom...

Quaint hotel with a lovely atmosphere. Rooms were old fashioned but spotless. Bathroom was sparkling. Everything you needed was provided in the room including biscuits for your tea. Didn’t eat in the bar but breakfast included was nice. Staff were really lovely. Very central as it’s on the Main Street. Would definitely stay here again. Don’t let the 2 stars put you off.

We stayed for 3 nights to attend a family gathering. We were able to make a short stop outside (in a bus bay) to offload our luggage and then park in the hotel's own small car park at the back. With the Hotel in the middle of town, we had no need of our car and appreciated the easy access to the towns many bars and restaurants. Our room was spacious, light and airy with a generous sized en-suite. Everthing was clean and I appreciated the biscuits with coffee!. At our age, the lift was a boon. Even though it was August, the real fire in the bar made it very welcoming and we also appreciated the excellent trio playing on Sunday evening. Breakfasts, included in our price were excellent. All staff were friendly, as we have come to expect in Ireland. We thought the price represented great value for money and we would not hesitate to return

Nothing really

Lovely traditional historic hotel centre in the heart of clonakility. upon arrival we were very early, but were checked in by a lovely woman and given our key, so we went to lunch near by and then the room was ready on time. very clean, staff extremely friendly and its what i expect from an Irish owned hotel not a franchise so well done to all working there.

Location was excellent and staff were great as well as the cleanliness.

It is a historic hotel but at the same time it's quite dated. Some investment into renewed/restored furniture and possibly WC facilities are needed I believe. The breakfast is in a cafe/restaurant which is open to the public. I found service was affected negatively by this shared situation. I also feel that quality of food is below standard for the rooms rates.
