everything was amazing! my husband is an architect and after travelling for almost a month in Japan we stayed in a lot of hotels. He was always commenting on what the hotels could have done better. But as soon as we checked into the cross we could both tell thus one was different. The superior room was quite big, amazing finishes both in the room and the rest of the hotel. lit is one groovy hotel in a fantastic position with fantastic art on the walls, layback music in the restaurant. All of the staff where amazing. the concierge staff were outstanding! from helping us to get tickets before we got there to a temple that had a particularly onerous reservation system, helping my husband get an urgent on the spot dental appointment to helping us send our luggage onto Tokyo via the courier system! the cross hotel is a class act anyway you look at it. special thanks to Haruna and the rest of the concierge staff - you guys are amazing!!! if we come back to Kyoto, I won’t be agonising on where to stay. I’m going straight back to the cross hotel! oh I forgot to mention that the breakfast was awesome!

there’s nothing not to like!

Good location near attractions with lots of good restaurants nearby. Room is clean and tidy. Bathroom is big and separate with toilet.

Poor check in experience. Staff not helpful. Arrived hotel late in the evening. Was asked to check in by myself using the self-check-in kiosk. 3 staffs were at the counter not serving any other guests did not offer any assistance. Just let the guest operate the machine. I could not retrieve the reservation records despite I entered my details correctly. I was simply asked me to do it again. I did four times but in vain. A staff finally came over to enter the records for me, probably considering that I was very stupid. Yet he still could not do it successfully and my check in had to be done at the counter eventually. Staff not ready to assist when needed.

I will definitely return to this hotel if i were to come back to Kyoto. Cannot beat the location. Food - aplenty. If you book this place, I don't think you will be disappointed because it's just so perfect in terms of location. One thing that I enjoy here - It's like on a busy street, but it's the next street. It's a very romantic corner of this place, about 6 - 20 minutes walk to key places like Subway Stations, Gion, Nishiki, loooooooaaaddddds of eatery, even the one opposite was so yummy. Church nearby too for the Catholics - Daifukus, Massage places, shopping malls, KFC, gosh the list goes on. 15 minutes cab ride from Kyoto Train Station (~ Yen 2K).

No gym and just 1 gnarly front desk person. Otherwise, the rest of them are fabulous! Even a nearby gym is sort of a dance studio.

This was our second trip staying in this hotel. We only ate breakfast first morning, it's a bit chaotic, choices are good but being a buffet breakfast by the time you got back to your table everything was cold. We ate breakfast every morning across the road in a beautiful bakery, breakfast was fantastic choices and very reasonable prices. This hotel is very central. We stayed in superior king rooms, really nice, not huge but big enough for 5 nights . Rooms very quiet including air con. We used the hotel laundry service which excellent but expensive, for items that could be tumble dried we went to a little launderette which was spotless, there is an alley opposite the hotel entrance, you walk up there and the launderette is on your left and the bakers for breakfast straight across the road. Also ate in the restaurant directly across the road from hotel entrance it was very good.

CHECK IN ...in 2019 you were greeted by staff at reception who checked you in, simple...but now it has changed to a very a very impersonal self check in which we could hardly follow therefore a staff member had to help and she couldn't even get it to do the breakfast booking for the following morning right! I didn't see the sense in this as it appears to be a much slower process unless you visit regularly and know the routine, only hotel we stayed in that had this impersonal system . Wouldn't let us book our taxi in advance, told us we had to book it at checkout and allow 15 mins it took 20 to 25 mins to arrive, as we had a shinkansen booked it caused a little unnecessary stress.

What a great location, walking distance to the Gion district, many great restaurants and the pagoda. Also, easy walk to the Nishiki market, which was amazing. Went back there several times for food and souvenirs. The personalized engraved chopsticks were a huge hit with our friends back home. The lobby was beautiful with a fabulous floral arrangement. The rooms were clean and fairly roomy for Japan standards. The beds were the most comfortable of our 4 hotels in Japan. We appreciated the coffee maker in the lobby and had many great cups of green tea too. I like how they have the amenities by the elevator so you can take what you need. I would definitely stay here again.

We’ve stayed in 4 hotels on our vacation and the Cross Hotel in Kyoto was the best, we loved everything about it, it was superb. Great location, close to irresistible Pontocho-dori Street (restaurants) and the beautiful Gion district. The hotel is situated on the corner of a main shopping street (Uniqlo close by) and a small side street - hotel entrance is on the side street. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is modern, elegant and has everything you need. The lounge area near reception is a lovely space to relax. We had a Superior King room on L6, it was the most spacious hotel room we’ve had in Japan. Everything is quality, stylish and modern. Most comfortable bed and pillows we’ve experienced in Japan, fantastic shower - even sachets of bath salts in different scents if you want to soak in the bath. Loved it!

I was surprised that there was a handwash basin in the toilet - but no handwash soap? Also, no facewash cloths in the bathroom, BUT there is one in the toilet (for drying your hands on) if you need a facewash cloth!!

They Cross Hotel Kyoto is centrally located. Literally a 5 mins walk to a huge shopping precinct and 10 mins walk to the famous Nishiki markets. Lots of restaurants and cove shops around, and a 5 mins walk to the nearest station (although we used buses mostly). I also like that it is slightly off the hectic main street- the smaller side street entrance made you feel you’ve arrived at a relaxing place. What’s so good about the hotel is it’s cleanliness. And the rooms are a lot bigger than I anticipated. The staff were genuinely helpful and as a pre-arrival, they were offer us connecting rooms as they found out we were travelling as a family with kids.

There’s nothing I didn’t like. The amenities (like toothbrush etc) needs to be collected downstairs at reception, but we have no problems with that at all.

The location is excellent, it's right in heart of Kyoto's shopping and food district. Walking distance to many attractions and must-try restaurants. The customer service was also very good. The hotel management tended to our request for a room on a higher floor, and gave us rooms that are near each other.

The room (a twin room) was on the smaller side. I also didn't like that there was only one pillow per bed. Of course, it was easy to request another one but it would have been nice not to have made that effort especially after a long day of traveling. These, however, were offset by all the other pluses of staying in the property.

We had a great stay. The room was comfortable and very spacious for japan! The location was great, near to the highstreet and near the river. The extra amenities were nice- we were given bath salts which were in with tradition for the end of the soltice. The bed was comfy and the shower was good pressure.

Inside the hotel was nice and quiet but due to central location we did wear ear plugs as you could hear people shouting outside at night. Also i feel like there was a lack of interaction with staff, which i suppose some people like but as it was christmas when we stayed i think some interaction is nice.

Great location, clean, comfortable bed & pillows and our room had separate toilet and bathroom which was very convenient when sharing with friends. Room was a good size for Japan standard. Each room had a Dyson humidifier which helps with better sleep at night. One of the front desk staff Miss Saragucchi (apologies, not sure of correct spelling. Petite short hair lady with glasses) was exceptionally helpful with restaurant and massage, luggage delivery and taxi bookings. Always served with with a smile.

Everything was great. The only inconvenience was that we had to asked reception for water as we didn’t need the room to be cleaned daily during our 7 days stay.
