Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo

Very good sized room, extremely clean with very comfortable beds and a sofa/desk. Though it's right in the city, it's very quiet and everything worked well (shower, air conditioning, etc). Very good central location in the shopping arcades, walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants and sites, and easy to access public transport to go further afield. Washing machine/dryer was a bonus.

It's too far to walk from Kyoto station with luggage if you are arriving on the train - long taxi queues although they moved fast. Taxi can't get right up to the door, which also means that when leaving you have to carry your luggage to the Main Street and hail a taxi (but taxis are pretty regular).

We stayed in the themed ‘Kabuki’ room. It was a fun experience! Upon entering the room, you hear drumming and shouting sound effects, and the room decor is almost overwhelming! There were lanterns, sound effects buttons, and the beds appeared to be on a theatre stage. The room glows red at night. It was a large room, with the toilet and bathroom in separate rooms, and the sink in the entryway. The heating system was good. If you like an unusual experience, you’ll like the kabuki room. Note, the beds are very low to the floor. We used the laundry downstairs and washed/dried a couple of loads with no issues. Breakfast was great, and the staff were so welcoming. We felt covid safe using our gloves and having our temperature checked. The location is fantastic, right in the Teramachi shopping arcades. Stone’s throw to a 7-Eleven and a pharmacy. Security is good, requiring a room card for the elevators, which were always very fast. Front desk were friendly with some English and helped us forward our bags to our next accommodation.

We would have loved some English explanation on the various inclusions in the Kabuki room; we couldn’t read the sign to understand the significance. Pillows were a little thin and hard. A few more vegetarian options at breakfast would have been nice.

What a great location for exploring Kyoto! Right in the markets, close to the main shopping area and public transport. It was a great spot for being close to everything. It was nice having the drink station in the north tower available at all hours. The laundry was clean and easy to use. The staff were helpful. We felt safe and secure the whole time.

The rooms were tight and the view not the greatest. We were able to make the most of the room we had and managed without drama, the views were not an issue as we were out enjoying all the beauty of Kyoto all day/night.

From check-in to check-out everything went smoothly. I had a great room, upgraded to a twin for a single travel with the prompt from Booking.com and I was super glad that I did. I had enough space to spread out, additional areas to sit with an excellent view of the Market and Kyoto Tower in the distance's well as KiyoMizu-Tera (If you really looked!). The staff was super helpful and accommodating. I had forwarded my suitcase to their hotel the day prior to arriving and it was there when I checked-in. I also wanted to forward my suitcase to my next hotel and they called ahead to the hotel to confirm the reservation and timing of the delivery. When I was ready to send my bag a few days later they had the waybill already filled out and ready for my luggage. The process was easy and simple. Additionally, the hotel is well located with tons of shopping and eating options near by. A Starbucks, Tully's Coffee and Seven-11 are all at the base of the hotel which provide quick convenient coffee/snack pick-ups for starting out your morning or for the afternoon while recharging your batteries.

Hotel was in a fantastic location, was very quiet and had lots of food options nearby. Hotel staff were very kind and helpful. Rooms were extremely spacious. Breakfast had good options. Room layout was a good use of space. We requested two more pillows which staff kindly delivered to our room!

Unfortunately, the duvet/ quilt cover did not button at the bottom making the duvet constantly fall out of the cover and onto the floor during the night even when tucking in the bottom. Duvet was too small for bed size. We had breakfast included for the 3 mornings but breakfast room was so small/ busy only ended up going one morning.

It is the 1st time my family travel to Kyoto after Covid, Hotel Gracery Sanjo is always my best choice in Kyoto. The location is prefect for shopping and site viewing. Also very close to the subway station. Front service is good. Due to the Holiday season in Japan and sold out for the room. We have booked 2 night 1 bedroom North wing building and 1 ninght 2 beds room in South wing. 2 bed rooms is little higher than the 1 bed room but the room size is bigger than most hotel room in Kyoto with higher price. For the 1 bed room, the size of bed is OK and enough for 2 people.

We contacted Hotel on booking for asking helping us to booking kyoto restaurant for us, but we did not get any reply from staff. Maybe they are too busy. But I beleive that before 2019 the hotel staff did provide booking service for the guest. Hopeful they can provide booking serivce next time for our stay.

The hotel has two towers. Didn't understand why coffee urns and breakfast room were next door in the other tower. Had to leave the building to get either. Very inconvenient! At the least, there should be a coffee room on the ground floor so guests can get a coffee and vending machine snack at any time.

Out of all the hotels we stayed at during our trip, this was the best hotel 'location-wise'. It's right in the middle of a market and only 100m or so away from Nishiki Market. 7-11 store right next door and a plethora of restaurants to choose from downstairs. There are 2 buildings (North and South). Reception is in the South building. Room was very clean. Bathroom is separate to the shower. Staff were polite and efficient.

Loved everything. It took out 2nd place across all the hotels we stayed in. 1st place went to Onsen Ryokan Yuen Shinjuku because it ticked all the boxes and had an amazing onsen with incredible city views from the hotel room and onsen!!!

Excellent location, big rooms for Japan, cleanliness was top notch, blackout currents and separate toilet from shower was a nice addition especially when traveling with friends! We loved our stay here and would absolutely recommend to future guests. The beds were a little stiff, but otherwise we barely spent time in the room except to sleep or shower and we greatly enjoyed it. The front desk staff helped us book an omakase experience as well!

Only complaint were the beds were a little hard, otherwise we loved our stay here.

I was concerned about this hotel as I downgraded from a Boutique Hotel to save some money; but, oh boy, I was wrong. This place was above and beyond everything I could have asked for. The location is amazing, in the middle of the market; so my teenage daughter could fulfill all her shopping desires, and our room on the 4th floor felt like we were in the middle of a mountain. It was so peaceful and quiet. The front desk staff were extremely helpful when we needed to book a boat ticket. They made the call on our behalf and got us the tickets. We had an amazing stay.

My husband is 6'4" and I don't think we will be able to stay here when he comes to visit 😑.
