beautifully presented rooms with huge comfy beds - and two pillows. the room was a little on the small side, but we could book a larger room. fantastic free tea selection. didn’t book in the breakfast. bathroom was very spacious and lovely. the staff were very helpful and the hotel is perfectly placed in the city centre at the top of Pontocho St but in a little quiet corner. we booked far enough in advance that the hotel was very well priced.

only comment would be the awkwardly placed light switches by the bed! very convenient to have them so close, but we did turn the lights on by mistake with our heads in the night!

The hotel was clean , in an excellent location. Our room was a little small but we managed. Shopping, restaurants, attractions- everything is close by. (Walking or from nearest bus station ). Complimentary tea (many varieties) and coffee in the lobby - all day - nice to have a refreshment before or after sightseeing. Bed was on a hard side, but I like it that way, so I was happy. Shower had a strong water pressure, hotel provided all toiletries. Staff is very friendly.

Laundry machine. Do not do laundry there. They have washer and dryer in one machine and it takes forever to dry clothes and even after 3 cycles, jeans are still damp, we had to hang them to dry overnight.

I stayed at Aru hotel for 5 days with my husband. We had an amazing time. Impeccable clean and spacious rooms, the view from the twin room was spectacular. Free coffee, premium tea and detox water in the lobby. The staff was super nice. Wonderful experience, we can only dream about this type of room and service at this price tag in Europe… Location was a 10. Bus stop was a minute walk and you can also walk to many beautiful sights in Kyoto. Very lively area with lots of restaurants and bars. Wonderful scenery. I hope I will be back to Japan, Kyoto and this hotel. Thank you.

Beautiful room and hotel, PERFECT location, so affordable for the area we were staying in- the pictures don’t do it justice! All staff were extremely accomodating and so lovely. I will definitely be recommending Hotel Aru Kyoto to any friends visiting in the future!

It wasn’t so much a ‘dislike’, but perhaps providing a second thicker pillow would be beneficial as it was slightly too hard. However, that is a personal preference thing.

An incredibly stylish room with a very comfortable bed and space for a big suitcase. The location couldn't have been better - it's in a central location for most major sites in Kyoto.

We found the breakfast selection a little limited (at least for those who are not so well versed with japanese-styled breakfasts)

The room was a great size and had a great view. I loved that the room had a message chair it was great after a long day of walking. The hotel is in an amazing location 5 mins to the subway and great restaurants and shopping right outside the front door. Theres also a rooftop deck that had nice views.

Super convenient location, central Kyoto, new and clean, bathroom very spacious with window. Super modern toilet all automatic, comfortable beds.

The room lacked enough space to open a large suitcase flat although it was quite spacious overall.

The location, near pontocho and at walking distance from gion, nishikawa, many wonderful temples but also close to the city center (nishiki market and co). Clean and big room at an affordable price. Very quiet room despite the proximity to pontocho bars and club.

This hotel was great for our stay in kyoto, super easy to get around the city, clean room, staff were very friendly. Bonus was the larger size of the room based on other hotels we have stayed in Japan. Great value, would stay again.

The room was cosy and we had everything we needed. It was nice that there was drinks and snacks to enjoy in the lobby as well as wine in the afternoon. The location is good, close to nice restaurants and walkable distance to Gion.

The ventilation in our room was a bit noisy.
