The hotel is located in the downtown area with many shops and restaurants nearby. It is also close to bus stops and the subway. The staff is friendly and helpful and the interior looks new. It is also great that the room is slightly bigger than the standard business hotel and there is a desk for you to work.

The sound insulation could be improved. Also, it seems that the air conditioner is controlled by the central system and one is unable to freely change between the air conditioning and heating mode. During my stay, there were a few days with sharp temperature differences between the daytime and evening. It was unfortunate that I could not find the way to turn on the heating mode at night.

Amazing location, transit lines nearby got us everywhere we wanted to go and tons of food and shopping options when we returned to the area. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and towels were replaced daily which was fantastic. The room was tight for our suitcases but they fit under the beds so it was easy to slide them away when we weren't using them. We loved the map and samples in the lobby that showcased local businesses. It was the perfect hotel for our trip to Kyoto.

The receptionists had some conflicting information on when to bring our bags down to ship them. Through some confusion and my insisting we did get them shipped and they arrived with no hiccups but it definitely seemed like something that I wish the staff had clearer resources for.

This is a no-frills hotel, there's just a kettle and some melamine cups, no teaspoon. Bathroom is well designed, separate from the sink which is in the passageway. Nice wooden floor and comfy beds. Towels are thin but are changed everyday. No drawers but you can live out of your luggage by pushing them under the beds thus saving space. 16 sq. meters can be a tight squeeze. The room price was tripled as we booked at peak season (sakura). Normal rate would justify the no-frills aspect. Location is good as near Loft and Bal Department store. Located within walking distance to the Kamo river. The entrance is clean and welcoming.

I would've liked the room to be bigger but that wouldn't justify the low price under normal circumstances.

Staff - Haruma and the team are excellent - very kind, helpful and polite. Haruma gave me tips on where I can see the cherry blossom, she helped me with suggesting all the routes for my trips and how to go about doing it all by myself. I cancelled my driver and I did exactly as she told me to and saw Kyoto at a fraction of the price I was going to pay the driver - a big thank you to her. She even arranged some bubble wrap and masking tape to carry my wooden umbrellas safely. She booked us taxi's to the Kansai Airport - she is a Star *. Location - Perfect place to stay - everything was close by.

The rooms were small but you are in Japan so can't complain.

We didn't have the breakfast there as we were out exploring most of the day - although the food looked great and the reception/restaurant area was lovely. The location was fantastic - couldn't have been a better place to base ourselves, right next to the market. The bed was so comfortable, the room was spacious. It was the only accomodation that we stayed in that had a proper tiled bathroom, rather than the plastic carbon copy insert all the others had (not that there's an issue with them, they're ingenious - but it was nice to have a change and a bit more space). The staff were so helpful, friendly and accomodating.

I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Hotel was in a perfect location. A 20 minute walk to the Gion district, 5 minute walk to the food markets and main high street shops. Plenty of very good restaurants on our door step. The shower was super powerful which was great if like me you appreciate a decent shower. I cannot remember her name but there was a lovely young lady on reception who gave us some awesome recommendations for dinner. We stayed for three nights and tried every recommendation and they were just spot on so thank you!

The room shape makes it very difficult to manoeuvre if like us you have two suitcases. However this seems to be pretty standard for Japan hotel room sizes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at OMO5 as the check in experience was seamless and fuss free. Rooms were small but comfortable and sufficient for 2. Facilities and amenities were working well too. I especially like that they provided toilet amenities in the lobby for guests to help themselves. Additionally, this property is in the heart of Sanjo where shopping and restaurants are scattered all around the vicinity. Making it superbly convenient.

Rooms were a tad small but with some arrangement, it was manageable

The location was fantastic - very central and walking distance to many of the popular sights such as Gion, Yasaka Shrine, Kamo River and Nishiki Market. Food, restaurants and shopping were also plentiful nearby. The staff were all helpful and friendly, and the beds were super comfy. I also particularly liked the thoughtful touches of maps and guides, and their sustainability practices of rental lounge wear, and provision of single use amenities on a as-needed basis.

I would have like a cafe onsite that is open for longer than just breakfast, but that's hardly a deal-breaker given the plentiful choices nearby.

The location is superb, along a convenient street yet is a stone's throw away from the main road, you get to your hotel without hustling with the people on the street. Room is spacious, clean and comfortable. Though the pillow can be thicker. The toiletries are of good quality. You can get some basic ones from the lobby too. Staff are young and very welcoming to foreign visitors of any country. They are helpful and tries very much to help with any questions we had.

Amazing location and a very lovely hotel. The hotel is a typically styled hotel for Millennials but saw all ages staying there. Location is amazing for Gion and for shopping and is prime for best food in Kyoto. The room was above basic and the bathroom was the hero of the room. All you needed was in the room and the bed was comfy and the room clean with Evo cleaning for stays less than 3 days. The staff are a real credit to the hotel with recommendations for dinner and how to get places.

No laundry facilities but a good coin laundry is a 2 min walk away.
