Very convenient location, right in the middle of the shopping district, and close to the Nishiki Market. Short walk to station, right by the buses to go to Arashiyama and other tourist locations. Staff spoke great English and helped us with the luggage service. The hotel is right next to round 1 arcade which has claw machines and other games. It's right by a lawson and has many good options nearby.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but felt like I had say some positive things about this place to counteract what you might read on google! The location was excellent, right in the middle of Kyoto and 5-10mins way from Gion. Also very close to the tube line, so easy to transfer to Kyoto station. The staff were helpful and the room was great value for money (clean, comfortable). Overall, fantastic stay.

Breakfast wasn’t amazing (poor selection and not that nice) - recommend going to the pasty & coffee shop next door for half the price.

Great clean room with all of the needed amenities. Although the room was small, it didn't bother me. The fridge was nice.

Don't pay the extra money for the "city view" room. Because it is next to the street, even with the window closed, it was still very noisy, and I couldn't open the blinds anyways because the people across the street in the building could easily see into our room.

Excellent stay! Quaint ryokan, close to nishiki market and gion district.

Doors lock up at 11pm, open at 630am. Limits your ability to head out if you want to start an early day or catch a early train

The value and location of this hotel are outstanding. It definitely tops my list of hotels to stay at again in the area.

This was not an issue for me, but I'll note an observation here for others who might have accessibility concerns; In the queen bed rooms one side of the bed is pushed up against the wall, so if having easy access to the side of the bed for two people is a concern for you I would say you should look at the superior or deluxe twin rooms. Of course the bathroom is also a bit tight to navigate if this applies to you and if I recall correctly it also had step up to get into the bathroom itself

It was spacious unlike many other hotels I’ve stayed in Japan. It gave enough room to open your luggage on the side. I also loved where it was located as this was right in the middle of the centre of the city which was close to the Gion and train station to get around famous spots on Kyoto. Additionally loved how they had Laundry/fryer machines!

The noise was absolutely insane. It’s not the hotel’s fault but it seems like that main street is getting loved by the local boy racers and bikers. The sound of the engine and the drifting sounds continued until 2am on the weekend: if you’re a sensitive sleeper might be best to look for somewhere further away from this Main Street where the hotel is located.

Great location, where all the action is Staff very helpful and accommodating, even lent us a fan as we were a tiny bit hot in the room due to Kyoto’s central heating policy (note the room is not the problem, my partner gets too hot easily; more than the normal person, for me it was ok) Beautiful welcoming reception area Love that we can do our laundry and leave for the day as staff removes it for us so other people can use Walking distance to lots of other attractions, otherwise, if using bike, also ok?

Not much, but if I had to nitpick, it’s that the bath is a bit small and that there is Not that much skincare amenities available unlike other hotels,

Location is terrific. The value is great, but the rooms are, well, tiny. Slightly larger than a capsule room (i.e. has it's own bathroom) but no room to sit (other than a bed) and no place to work. That said, if what you need is a cheap, clean bed and bath, this is hard to beat. The breakfast was good, but repetitive (it wouldn't be hard to change up some of the mix but it was essentially identical every day). Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location, one can easily catch the local bus or train within few minutes from the hotel hence great for sightseeing. Nishiki market is on the backside within 5 minutes walking distance. Lots of great places to shop and eat close to the hotel. The local train to Osaka leaves from Kyoto Kawaramachi station which is within 5 minutes walking distance of this hotel so one doesn't have to go all the way to Kyoto station to travel to Osaka. Hotel has a washer dryer in the lobby area.

Room is quite compact and one has to sit on the bed itself (no space for chair). Hotel also didn't have tie up with Yamato etc for luggage transfer.

The location is amazing, close to bus stops and metro. So many restaurants and attractions nearby. Hotel just opened so everything is very new. Room is compact but functional.

WiFi is really bad. Fluff would come out of towels, quite annoying. Pillow is too thin for my liking and there is only one.
