We loved how close to everything Hotel HILLARYS was. Lots of yummy food places along the street and a 7eleven close by. The Hie shrine is also very close and a beautiful shrine to visit. Staff were always super helpful and friendly. Room was very clean. Storage was minimal but ok to store your bags under the desk and a few hangers behind the door on the wall. Bathroom is small but we were ok with that, very normal in Tokyo, the shower pressure was amazing!! Big bonus was the beautiful coffee shop ‘Streamer’ across the street that we ended up going to nearly every day for a week. 2 very happy Australian travellers !!

Wish there was a window you could see out of and space was small, but that is usual for Tokyo. Honestly that’s us splitting hairs. We had an amazing time and will definitely be coming back :)

What they did with the small space, loved the interior timber features

Bit cramped for a couple, but we prepared for it so we didn't have to open our luggage. The window isn't really a window...

1. Staff are very accommodating. We requested multiple things that we forgot to bring (or not working since Japan has different voltage than our country) and they provided them easily. Very friendly and can communicate in english. 2. The room, although small (tbf, it is stipulated/mentioned when booking a room), is clean and well-ventilated. They clean and provide fresh towels everyday. 3. The location is excellent. Near to both Akasaka Station and Akasaka-Mitsuke Station. There are a lot of resto and konbini around the area. The location is also great for people who wanted to experience night life in Tokyo. 4. Check-in and check-out process is very easy. Overall, best value for money.

Room is so aesthetic and cute- love all the dimmer lights which creates a beautiful ambiance, also larger than most hotel rooms in Tokyo which I really appreciate because you can open your large suitcase in the room (which you can't do in a lot of others). I chose the option to be assigned a room on arrival and was given what appeared to be a small double bed/large single bed option, also super comfortable & not too firm as also is a trend in Japan. They give you PJs, fresh towels everyday, there is an onsen & restaurant on the 9th floor (onsen open 6am- 1pm & 3pm- 1am; restaurant open 5pm til midnight). Apparently there is also a convenience store in the basement but didn't have time to check it out. Self service coin operated laundry available, high speed internet is free, with a good size workspace in your room. Love this one

A little pricey for a similar experience to upscale capsule hotels. Walls are paper thin so you can hear everything your neighbours say/do (and they can hear you too!). No window to see outside- you can slightly open it a tiny bit for fresh air but no view at all.

Our first time in Tokyo and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay here! Akasaka is a beautiful, clean and cool area with lots of amazing restaurants on the same street as the hotel. The train station is a few minutes walk and only a few stops away from the popular Shibuya. Everything about the hotel was incredible. The location, the room itself and the staff was all better than we could have hoped for. 10/10! We are a couple travelling the world and this is the best hotel we have stayed in during our travels so far. We was sad to leave!

We loved everything

I really enjoyed the location of this hotel. So many options for great food and still much quieter than neighbourhoods such as akihabara and shinjuku. Very central to everything and close access to public transport Some FABULOUS coffee options in the nearby streets ( we are from Melbourne and this rates highly for us!)

This is not a high end hotel and was as expected. Rooms are small - but again, I think this place is good value. I would prefer a hotel that is good value and central rather than loads of space, but location isn't as good.

The location was really good, close to two metro stations and with lots of dining options in the area. We also liked that they had a public bath on the top floor for guests. This was a good bonus especially after a day of walking around Tokyo in winter. We also appreciated that our room was cleaned daily!

Nothing really. Maybe just a small comment that the en suite bathroom is a lot smaller than in average Japanese hotels. The sink is also outside of the bathroom and they put a portable heater in the bedroom which was unnecessary and just took up space in the already compact room.

Location was good and in the middle of a busy area with lots of restaurants and bars. It is also within walking distance to several subway stations. Hotel looks new and clean. Two types of pillows (thick and soft) provided. There are two hooks and several hangers provided so good for those travelling with suits and coats that need to be hung.

Small room with low ceiling. People travelling with moderately big luggages will have little space to place and open them. Window is glazed in my room and thus has no view or much natural light. Lobby was small and always crowded with luggages.

The location was amazing, as you are 3 minutes away from Akasaka station and 6 minutes from Akasaka-Mitsuke station. Pretty easy to move all around Tokyo with these 2 stations nearby. There are multiple restaurants and bars around the hotel, so you have plenty of options to dine or grab a drink. The staff was extremely polite and friendly, helped us out with all our questions or requests. The room itself was super clean, tidy and comfortable. People from the hotel were cleaning it everyday. The hotel was also very stylish, we loved the lights in the hallways and the Japanese patio design. The onsen at the top floor was a really nice addition, great opportunity to relax at night after long days walking around in the city. Overall, I totally recommend this hotel.

Rooms are a bit small, it's a struggle to open up 2 large suitcases simultaneously, but this is a general issue in Japan. No hard feelings.
