Great spot, because everything is within walking distance. Clean and comfy rooms, fabulous breakfast but the real stand out is Levs on reception. He's amazing. Welcoming, thoughtful, remembers everyone's names, seems to speak every language under the sun and knows all about Latvia and Riga. This was DH's third visit and I can see why he wanted to go back there. If you like family run hotels with personal service then this is the place for you.

After hours the door is locked so REMEMBER THE CODE! And you need to put in the code and then press the button at bottom left.

The receptionist was invariably very attentive and helpful with any demand. The location of the hotel just perfect, close to everything yet a quiet street. The bed very comfortable. Breakfast was not exceptional but absolutely ok, good quality.

The only thing we didn't like was the staff at the restaurant. We went up to ask if we could get a table and were answered rather rudely that it was fully booked, in an impolite way. We did not ask for the following evenings. This takes some scores from the overall rating.

Central location. Everything was easily walkable or a short taxi journey away. Hotel was really nice with great features, comfortable bed and room amenities were spot on. The staff were generally friendly with a special shout out to Levz. He was the best kind of example of customer service. Super friendly, always said hello and remembered all our names, always offering help and making sure we had everything we need. He certainly went above and beyond.

There really wasn't much to dislike. If I had to find something then it would be the shower was a little low for a tall person in the room I had but by no means was this a reflection on the hotel, or the staff, I have the same issue in most places.

This was a great place to stay. Our room was kindly upgraded on arrival free of charge to a larger one. The room was comfortable and exactly as described. The small fridge was a bonus. The location is perfect for visiting the old town. Everything is within walking distance. The hotel is so quiet you can hear a pin drop (we stayed Sun-Fri). Breakfast is a self-serve style with typical breakfast options, and very good coffee from a Julius Meinl machine. The reception staff are the hidden gem in this place. A special mention to Levs who always went above and beyond and even waited for our late arrival Sunday night to ensure we were checked in safely - thank you, and we would love to return if we are ever again in Riga.

All the points go to the one receptionist who was as courteous as a private butler. He made our stay really pleasant. One can only hope the hotel understands his value to that place.. Without him, it would have been merely an average experience.

Breakfast was lacking fresh fruits and we had to rush to breakfast before food ran out..

The hotel was beautiful inside and out. Our room was very cosy and fit us perfectly. The main thing we loved about Gutenbergs was our host Levs. As soon as we arrived he was beyond helpful, caring and understanding. He answered every questions we had in detail and also on the first night we were struggling to find a restaurant, so then he walked us to a sold out restaurant and got us a table! Amazing! Every time we were about to leave he would make sure we were all okay and once again if we have any questions, he was there to answer them. We have never met such an amazing host like Levs. We have travelled to a fair share of countries and stayed in many hotels but we have never received hospitality like it. If I came back to Riga again, there isn’t anywhere else I would want to stay. Thank you Levs!

Location, beautiful roof terrace, tasty breakfast. We have made also very early check in, which was possible.. by surprise :) I wanted to thank to Levs. As a staff he was really helpful and friendly, also as a person very interesting to talk to. Gutenbergs I think is one of the best hotels in the city. When I am back to Riga next time definitely I will book accommodation there.

The location is excellent, the hotel is in the top cuty center, in the Old town Riga. The breakfats was very good. The room was the most interesting thing, romantic, old style. I like it.

Levs, one of the Reception staff was excellent. Nothing too much trouble and knowledgeable about Latvia and Riga.

The receptionist was an amazing person, very polite, fulfilling all requests and making sure all guests would get the best memories from their stay. If you want to stay in a hotel and feel some time travel experience in a good way. I would recommend Gutenbergs hotel :)

The breakfast buffet did not have any vegetables. So I would suggest improving food options.
