What a cool hostel! Tucked behind the cafe, the hostel has a massive community area, fully equipped kitchen, and outdoor area. The staff was friendly and the hostel was cleaned daily. The rooms were also not half bad. The location of the hostel, while it could be better, is good. It’s close enough to the center, red light district, and central station to reach within fifteen minutes by foot, but far enough away to be safe and quiet. Overall I would stay here again!

I would stay here again if I had the money! Not unique to this hostel are the insane prices for accommodations in Amsterdam. Aside from that, nothing much I didn’t like. Maybe add curtains to the beds and have under bed lockers.

I had such a great stay at Ecomama! The beds were comfortable and bathrooms were regularly cleaned. The common areas are excellent for meeting people and for any special hostel dinners. Overall, a really excellent experience with a friendly team and great facilities.

The one thing that made it terrible was getting bed bug bites. I did inform the team and they've hopefully done something about it.

The location was great, and the staff was amazing! We had a few random questions, and they helped us with everything we needed. The café in the front is really cute, too, and the drinks and food was really good. The shared space of the hostel was really comfortable, and we enjoyed chilling there instead of alone in our room. Also, we had booked a room with canal view, and said view really was nice!

Unfortunately, the price for the luggage lockers is a bit high (7€ for 6 hours). Also, you could hear everyone in the hallway and sometimes even in the rooms next to ours, so earplugs really are a good idea.

The communal areas were a real treat, it was quiet, laid back and friendly. Even though I was sharing with 6 other females it was cool, no stress. Bathrooms were kept very clean, as were the other areas, I especially liked the kitchen facilities, there are 2 supermarkets 5 mins away so I had the option of cooking for myself, which was great. And the staff were excellent also x Highly recommend this place.

Honestly I'm trying to think of something I didn't like but can't! I wish I'd tried the bar, happy hour 5-8pm, but that's my bad...lol

This hostel is great. Location is excellent, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the rooms were cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was also really quiet at night so I got some really good sleep, which is exactly what I wanted. The showers are in a shared space but you have total privacy.

For the price, I think this is a perfect stay so still a 10 for me despite what I liked less - there's only 1 plug in the 5-bed room, but with a bit of communication it's manageable. And I'm not a big fan of the push button in the shower, but to be honest it is a place with many eco-friendly features so that's a positive thing, the shower has hot water and good pressure which are the most important things.

Stayed in a 4 bed dorm. The room was suitably sized with two bunks parallel to each other with a sufficient gap between the two. There was a light, two chargers, two USB and a shelf for each bunk. Location was great - 10 minutes to Central station. 5 minutes to a AH supermarket. The kitchen was fully equipped with induction hobs and everything you needed to cook (although I didn't use the facilities). The ensuite bathroom to the dorm was clean and spacious. The building was exactly what you could expect from the concept and quite different to a chain hostel. I liked it. Plenty of space and a nice quiet vibe. Bed was super comfortable with a nice cozy duvet and firm pillow.

A few more hooks are needed in the bathroom and in the room. Lockers are very small, suitable to fit a carry-on bag but not a suitcase or larger sized bag. No privacy curtain on each bunk bed. This would be a welcome addition as people come in after midnight shining their torch, which can be disturbing. Towel hire was relatively expensive.

Ecomama was the first hostel I ever stayed in and I honestly say that it exceeded all my expectations. When I arrived, because it was early in the morning, I had to leave my baggage in the paid locker which was very easy to use and I paid 6 euros for 6 hours. I stayed in the Hipster 5-bedroom and I loved the room. It was small but cozy. The cleaning was spotless. You could see the canal through the window. I knew I had to bring a lock with me before going to the accommodation so that wasn't a problem. Plus I always left my things outside the locker and nothing ever happened. I had a charger close to my bed and I mini-nightstand. The bed was comfortable even if I stayed in the top bed. It was a little uncomfortable to go up the stairs but more for the person sleeping under my bed than for me They had a cafeteria but I hadn't tried the breakfast, I only enjoyed my delicious morning coffee. The bathroom was very clean as well. I loved that you had like a mini room before the shower where you could leave your things and change. You also can find shower gel, conditioner, and shampoo in the shower which is amazing. The location is perfect. 5 minutes to the metro and you have cafes close up, a huge supermarket, and many coffee shops. I loved that they had an indoor and an outside terrace where you could read and socialize with people. And there were also many places like the cafeteria, kitchen and 2 open spaces where you could spend your time. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need to cook, it also had a thermal mug for water. I loved that there were also different kind of activities like beer tasting and movie night to make friends. And now for my favorite part: the people. I was never met with such positive energy. The girls who took me in gave me all the advice possible for what to do in Amsterdam. My roommates were the nicest people possible.

First of all, the staff was very friendly and helpful, very sincere. Although it was very cold when I was there, the hostel common areas and rooms were quite warm. The rooms were very clean, the bed and sheets were clean and comfortable. It is very close to Dam square. You can walk to many places. I will recommend this hostess to all my friends going to Amsterdam.

I don't like the shower mechanism. It's a nice idea to save water, but you have to press the button to keep the water flowing. This is also not practical for me.

The location was great. My room had two big windows that opened up to a quiet canal and a good breeze at night. My room had 4 bunk beds with good separation and privacy. There were hangers for clothes and seats to sit and a place to keep shoes inside the room. The toilets were clean and a staff was always there to clean them after every single use in the morning. The reception was very good at their service. They helped me get in late at night after losing my keycard. I forgot my power bank which they kept in lost-and-found. I was easily able to give them a call and collect it with them later. Would stay again!
