Location, Staff, and Cleanliness were all to the plus. The staff in particular were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The room and facilities were spotlessly clean and the bath products were Dove, which is a brand that I can use. Amsterdam is an expensive place to stay and this was an expensive stay.

Our room was in the basement, so, no view. Also, the room was smaller than expected and not equipped to store our clothing or toiletries. There were no shelves or drawers and only a tiny 4-hanger closet. There was no fridge. Instead there was an iron and ironing board - useless. There was no desk, just a small, oddly shaped table and a single lounging type chair.

No bath Really wobbly twin beds Room wasn't overly big Being charged extra for a room with canal view..you had to look thru the gap between all the buildings to see a bit of the canal( see pic supplied) No towels in room on arrival and no electricity blew on day 4 of 5.

Room was fantastic. Breakfast was exceptional. Location was ok. It was raining the whole time we were there.( early August) So we had to purchase umbrellas. Wasn't a problem. There was a souvenir shop 20 meters down the road that sold them. Staff were wonderful. There was a bar downstairs. Just a little cosy one. When we arrived our room was not ready so we had a complimentary drink while we waited.

Not the hotels fault but we still had to walk a fair way to really get into the mix of things. No real restaurant's near the hotel. To find somewhere to eat you had to walk quite a bit.

We picked the room with a canal view, which was lovely and matched what was advertised. The staff were quite friendly and looked after us on the first day. A staff member gave us dinner recommendations and called to check in to see if we had settled into the room. The breakfast was nice. We were somewhat close to the main attractions.

In our bathroom, it was advertised that we were able to get complimentary essentials. However, when we approached the staff about getting some of those essentials, they weren't willing to distribute them. Additionally, we had to notify staff a day prior about our desired breakfast time, which was inconvenient because we had tours and activities in the morning that did not align with the breakfast times.

Very nice and clean room, with comfortable bed. The hotel is situated close (10 minutes walking) to Central train station and metro. Walking distance to main attractions and canals. We arrived earlier than the check in time, but we were given the card to our room, which was much appreciated. On booking it is mentioned that that they only offer dutch breakfast, with no hot meals. Hence, there were fresh boiled eggs and pancakes (pastries was also fresh and amazing). Overall it was a good breakfast with multiple options from which you can choose. Another good thing regarding this hotel is that you need to book your breakfast time slot in advance to avoid crowds and no sitting places at the tables. This is because the breakfast area is smaller than the hotel capacity.

The reception staff at this hotel were outstanding! So friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and polite that they made a real difference to our stay. For example, one young woman receptionist recommended a restaurant just a few minutes' walk away - Olijfje, Mediterranean cuisine - which was so good we had one lunch and two dinners there over our long weekend! The breakfast included in our cost was plentiful and fresh. We particularly enjoyed the warm pancakes and fruit. We had requested a high room and paid for a canal view, which we enjoyed from our fifth floor window. The hotel is on a busy road, but we were at the back and I can genuinely say that this was the quietest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I usually sleep with earplugs when staying in a city hotel, but didn't need them and wouldn't have known anyone else was even staying in the hotel, despite our room being across from the lift. The room was warm and comfortable, with a great shower. We were only about a ten minute walk from a Metro station, which was itself only two stops from the Central Station, so we could get out and about pretty easily. The Museum Quarter was a 35 minute walk away.

Great stay definitely recommend. The staff are very friendly always saying hello and wishing you a nice day. The room was comfortable and clean, we were missing the sachets of milk from the tea and coffee selection but this was rectified by the receptionist. The shampoo, body wash and hand wash were 'Dove' brands so very nice quality. Towels, a hairdryer and a safe box were all included in the room and the TV had a couple of English channels which was a bonus.The continental breakfast was lovely and fresh everyday. There was a selection of meats and cheeses, pancakes, breads, cereals, pastries and a choice of hot drinks and fruit juices from the machine. A really good variety of items which we enjoyed.

The hotel itself is a little out of the centre about a 15/ 20 minute walk from the train station and centre of Amsterdam. This was fine for us as the walk itself is quite pleasant walking past the canals. Also, we had requested a high floor but appreciate this wasn't guaranteed we ended up being in the basement level of the hotel so not much of a view.

Quality, clean functional, decent size room, nice enough to feel it was a treat to relax in and comfy enough to not want to get up! It's about 20 mins walk from the station. Stay on the station side of the road for a nicer walk along the water edge. I walked all over the city from here. Staff all very polite and professional. Kettle in room. Breakfast was ample and the lady keeping it all clean was doing a grand job

Didn't really like having a connecting room, although staff reassured me about the safety aspect, I could hear the neighbours talking. They were not anti social though so that was lucky. Booking breakfast time was a bit annoying but the area is small so I can see why they do this. I was able to go in earlier than my booked time though. Would like to have stayed longer!

The hotel frontage hides a great find. The location is great, 10 mins walk to metro, trams and a good sized supermarket. Also a few great restaurants to choose from. Breakfast was fantastic with a superb range of hot pancakes and boiled eggs, toast, pastries, fruit, cereal and yogurts. If you get the chance, choose a canal view room, you won't be disappointed. Staff are friendly, helpful and all speak excellent English.

Don't be put off by the front, it really could do with some improvement.

it's the second time that I found myself at holiday inn city hall, the first time I lost my flight back home and the second time I was just arriving in Amsterdam and found out there was a problem with the apartment I booked, so one thing that I like about this hotel is that if you ever find yourself in Amstedam at 10pm and don't know where to go there is a good chance Holiday Inn will have a room available since the hotel has a lot of rooms. I also love that you can book your breakfast from 8am to almost 12pm

The hotel has a lot of rooms but it's not really huge so it really looks like a labyrinth, you gotta make a lot of turns to get in and the rooms are very basic and not very spacious, if you are 2 people with 2 baggage there wont be much space left to move, also the decoration are all white and grey and I like colorful places better. Im still gonna give this hotel 4 stars and not less because I go to Amstedam often and in every hotel I've been I felt like the rooms were too tiny and expensive. I guess is just the way it is in an old city.
