Had everything we needed - lovely little apartment, could easily have spent many comfortable nights there. We enjoyed having a lounge area and access to Netflix. Breakfast spread was very nice - included a mini loaf of homemade bread and what also appeared to be homemade biscuits, which were delicious! Even the products provided in the bathroom were really good quality. We also enjoyed meeting Hunter the friendly dog! The owner Mia was very friendly and seemed happy to help should we have needed it.

The shower did leak a bit, but we felt this did not detract from the otherwise excellent accomodation.

Modern and clean room. Very comfortable bed and bedding. All amenities provided (shampoo, conditioner, coffee, milk etc.). The breakfast hamper was excellent with freshly baked bread, condiments, cereals, and fresh fruit. WiFi was OK. We absolutely adored Hunter (the dog).

We weren't aware that the two bookable rooms were located in the same lodge. There were other guests next door throughout our stay so we felt like we couldn't use the outdoor patio (our fault for not reading the description properly). As the lodge is located in a rural setting, there was a loud tractor driving very close by in the evenings, but it stopped by around 10pm. However, neither of these two things would stop us from booking here again!

We loved the location as it is slightly away from town with lots of space. The suite was more than we expected having more space and all that we could need to stay longer. The beds were very comfortable (nicer than the name brand hotel we are at tonight). Our hosts, Michael and Mia, were very friendly folks and have done a great job making this a lovely spot. They had even put together a packet about the area, how to run the ac/heater thing etc but unfortunately we missed seeing it until we were preparing to check out, we should of looked around better.

Absolutely amazing place! Exceptionally clean and tidy, the set up is so good and great for little ones! Welcomed upon arrival which was lovely! Breakfast brought to us the night before with lovely fresh homemade bread which was so yum!! Perfectly situated for trips to Tauranga, Hamilton, Taupo, Rotorua and Auckland. I highly reccomend staying here! We will 100% be back. We cant wait!!

Nothing bad to say about this place it was great!!

A lot of thought had gone into everything about this B & B. As soon as we walked in I felt reassured that it was fresh and clean. Two suitcase stands were provided, great for both of our backs and knees. The location was quiet and rural, lovely for sitting out on the verandah. The in-room continental breakfast was lovely and included a freshly baked small loaf, which we started during the evening. The bed was very comfortable, one of the best night's sleep in New Zealand. The shower and products were great.

I can't think of anything, other than not having the foresight to book a couple of nights instead of just one.

Great B&B only 20 min drive from Hobbiton. Large beautiful property with gorgeous gardens. Bed was super comfortable and bedding/linens were fresh and clean. WiFi was great. Mia came by after we got in with a breakfast tray with so many goodies - baked bread, jams and spreads, yogurt, juice, cereal, milk and more. It was amazing to start the day on the porch with breakfast provided.

Everything was excellent! When we arrived we just weren’t super clear on which door was for our booking. And we weren’t super clear on how to check in but the key was in the door so we could let ourselves in.

Fabulous little B&B located on the outskirts of town. Note, you need a car, but it's an easy drive to/from town (5mins) and Hobbiton. If you're looking for somewhere chill to relax away from everything, this is the place for you. Mia and Michael were fantastic hosts, and I really loved my stay. The breakfast tray was unbelievably packed full of goodies, the bed was cosy, the shower pressure perfect. All the things you need (coffee, tea, toiletries, Netflix) to make the best possible mini home away from home.

The Walnut Lodge B&B was amazing! The hosts were extremely nice and helpful! They baked fresh bread for us everyday for breakfast, and even offered archery lessons! The rooms were spacious, clean, and the beds were very comfortable. It’s location is great for visiting Hobbiton, going out to eat in Matamata, and venturing to Auckland or Rotorua. We booked both rooms offered at this location, which provided us with a private experience with our group of people! It was perfect for our stay.

A beautiful facility is only as good as its hosts. The Walnut Lodge has both wonderful hosts matched with an excellent building and property. We arrived on a late check-in and Mia was still gracious to welcome us and give us a quick walk through of the property. She even lend our children their Legos! The property is very clean, simple, and exudes an ambiance of peace and serenity. Breakfast was set and my wife loved the baked bread. They have a mini-library that has the book we forgot so it was a blessing to be able to pick up on our story and continue our reading. The archery lesson was a welcome side activity on top of our main purpose with Michael leading it, we learned a lot out of the quick lesson and spent most of the time shooting arrows. Our afternoon was capped with some freshly picked tangelos on their beautiful garden. We would definitely be booking again should we decide to go back to the Matamata area.

We do not have anything that we didn't like about our experience at Walnut Lodge.

Great hosts Mia and Mike! Friendly dog too Place was absolutely a dream to be at wow the hard work done on the apartments were amazing, beautifully done. I appreciate your hard work as you have shown in the visitors book, a good read. Also lots of books to read and fun board games and cards to keep entertained. Beds were comfy, apartment very spacious, shower very very nice, love it! Location was awesome! Great private and off the beaten track place for singles, couples or family to get away from the norm for a day or two Room was very comfortable with wonderful lovely breakfast "THAT BREAD!!" lovely lovely home made bread. Catering for smokers and vapers also A nice walk in your amazing garden did wonders for the soul Thankyou Mia and Mike and your supercute dog we will be back again!
