Service staff were efficient,friendly and helpful e.g. nothing appeared to be a bother Owner/Manager were helpful and were helpful if there was a query re smart tv, wifi etc. We enquired about the brand mattress which we found extremely comfortable and they willingly showed us the brand etc. There was no hesitation on giving us the information we needed... (not a sales pitch... lol) Being Central to most admentities was great e.g. short walk to the Cafes, New World and shopping centre across from Motel

Nothing to dislike ... the motel room is a short stay accomadation not long term

Matamata Central Motel is located along a main road approaching Matamata, so not right on the main street. However, this is still a nice location, right across the street from a grocery store (for those who prefer to prepare breakfast or lunch at the motel or need to stock up on snacks) and within walking distance of the main street. If most visitors are in Matamata to visit Hobbiton as we were, it is only 20 minutes from The Shire's Rest, from where most tours depart, compared to Rotorua, which is an hour away. Matamata also has the best selection of restaurants for many miles around - another reason to stay in Matamata when visiting this area. The accommodations are clean, with a small kitchen area (including microwave oven, refrigerator, dishes and cutlery), spa tub and separate shower, plentiful hot water and adjustable working air conditioning. Many rooms are on two levels and are not appropriate for visitors with mobility challenges, but Matamata Central Motel does have one or two rooms listed as 'accessible;' I did not see these rooms and therefore cannot comment on their suitability for visitors who would have difficulty with stairs.

While Matamata Central Motel was clean, comfortable and well-furnished, there were no paper towels, napkins or tissue provided. This was a little inconvenient and required an extra trip to the grocery store.

We were so comfortable from the time we parked the car right outside the room. We didn’t have far to lug our luggage. We found the room very roomy. The space was a relief so we could move around and not get in each other’s way. The bed was so comfortable, the bathroom large and very clean and kitchen clean and well appointed. The location was easy to find and close enough to town centre. Being across the tracks from a supermarket was a benefit too. Thank you for a very relaxing stay.

2 bedroom unit was very spacious and comfortable. Laundry service per basket was great and worth the cost. Shopping centre across the road. Staff were very pleased and accommodating. We left some laundry and they knew were travelling with another family and gave the clothes to them to return.

Being at the end of the complex, the WIFI was intermittent. Getting out onto the main road took some nerve.

This Motel is amazing and boasts modern, clean facilities. Really enjoyed having a separate lounge/kitchen space to the bedroom. We were able to park right outside our room and there is a New World supermarket directly across the road if you want to self-cater for breakfast.

Beware - Bathroom floors are super slippery when wet, so we just put a towel down instead of bathmat.

Thank you for allowing us early check in in order to get ready for a wedding the afternoon we arrived. We had a 2 bedroom unit which was incredibly clean and spacious. Whilst we did not use the kitchen facilities it had everything a family would need including a really good sized dining table. Staff very helpful. Room quiet. Lovely outdoor space if you wanted to relax with a drink.

Yes, the room and amenities were well set out and appointed. The decor was pleasing and was very nice to park the car right outside our unit.

I would have appreciated being able to pay the bill not using credit card but was not given an option and when I enquired to 'settle the bill' they had already charged it through to the credit card incurring the additional credit card fee. I did express a little disappointment that I did not have the option. The office staff were a bit 'detached'.

Loved the location, we travelled from overseas and didn’t know the area. Opposite a supermarket and warehouse. Excellent place to stay, clean and tidy and Hillary was so helpful when I messed up my booking. Thank you 🙏🏻

I was only there for 2 nights, but I was made very welcome. The motel was conveniently located for all needs. The purpose of my visit to the town was a special visit to nearby Hobbiton village created from the LoTR and Hobbit films. Amazing.

Room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Bathroom was enormous with great shower pressure. Beds were lovely and comfortable. Heat pump was effective and easy to use. Kitchenette had everything we needed.
