the accommodations were fantastic. The outside veranda area for eating and lounging were very nice. The wait staff took excellent care of us. The location was great.

We talked to the lady at the front desk at morning about a place to eat. She directed towards the downtown. We found a tiny little place, but that was just okay. As we walked back to the hotel, we found a fantastic dinning area just down the road from the hotel. All we had to do was simply walk directly down the hill towards the water front. So the recommendation is to have a list or map of restaurants in the area that are open in the morning.

Location was great. Nice on site parking, lots of it too. Ashley & Co products are a nice touch. Bistro downstairs has delicious food, the pizza's and duck ragout lasagna were really good. Attentive and friendly staff, very clean place. Shower has rain head shower and also handset; rain head is gigantic and nice, handset is like a fire hose if you like good water pressure. Comfortable bed, nice AC unit (temp can be set between 19 Celsius and 24 Celsius), LED lighting, ceiling is SUPER high (it must be like 4-5 metres) so feels like a very spacious room.

I have to mention this (I have NOT deducted from the score for this) cause it's mind boggling, but the TV bracket is a travesty. In the room I was in, the TV is parallel to the bed. It has a bracket that can be moved off the wall and turned, but the furniture blocks a portion of the screen. It doesn't seem like this pole is even structural so not sure why it's blocking it, and the opposite side of the room has nothing in the way. Can't figure out who thought that would ever work. You kind of forget about it eventually while watching like I did.

The cleanliness and the style, very neat! The staff were so lovely particularly the young girl who checked us in. We also saw her when we were ordering cocktails and she was so friendly, fun and approachable. She had her hair in two little buns, if you want to tell her from us how great she was :)

It did get slightly too hot at one point during the night, and we couldn’t control the air con. It wouldn’t go lower then 19 and it was a bit warm for this time of year. Maybe allow the guests to be able to lower the air con to the temp they like?

It is a beautifully presented boutique hotel. Our room was very clean and the bed and pillows were lovely and comfortable. Parking was available right outside. We had dinner at the Clarence Bistro and it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The food was amazing 10/10

Our room was very dark - there weren’t enough lights, especially in the bathroom. The room was also quite small. We were also disappointed that breakfast wasn’t available at the hotel. There was a Nespresso machine in our room for coffee, but the light was so bad we had difficulty using it!

Really enjoyed the super friendly staff! The room and bed were huge and comfy! Very central location and accessible to all my family needs. Loved the grandeur of the place and the views are spectacular! Ample parking options and loved the decor - has some good historical features.

Lack of laptop space as the small table/ desk was very congested leaving little room. Having a kettle plugged in right next to your laptop is probably not a good idea. I had two suitcases so the lack of a lift to the rooms was a bit of a mission for me, especially as my plane arrived at night. Also, wish there were breakfast options.

Excellent location with great parking behind the hotel. No lift but the lovely man who checked me in, carried my heavy suitcase upstairs. The bed was exceptional. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and this bed was the best I've ever slept in - super comfortable!! The room had a lot of personality, not quite my taste but it was thoughfully executed. Wish I could have stayed longer!

I have a snake phobia and the artwork in my room creeped me out as it appeared, to me, to be multiple snakes. Thankfully a throw blanket on the bed was easily tossed over the awful art and it meant I didn't have to look at it. Something more generic on the wall would have been appreciated but it doesn't change my view of a lovely little hotel.

Beautiful boutique stay in an old Post office that retains its heritage appeal with modern finishing and classy fit out. Great location too in Tauranga city centre. 5 mins from the mount by Car. Impressive restaurant too with fine dining and fine dining prices. Worth a spoil

Only down side is the location in close proximity to other bars/clubs with noise and music until 3am both nights. Rooms not immune to noise which is to be expected.

This wasn't like a normal hotel. It's uniqueness was very cool. The decor was great. It was clean and well kept. It was in a good location with restaurants, bars, and the water within walking distance.

The only flaw I found was the water kettle. It had build up and didn't seem clean. We were going to use it for tea and decided against it.

Our stay at this beautiful hotel was amazing our room was exceptional the decor was stunning also the shower was in the old Post Office vault with door still attached luv, luv, luv. As we're visiting here from England unfortunately we won't be able to return to this beautiful hotel for a while 😭. But my brother and his husband who live here in Auckland have already booked the same room for September...... we'll be back one day I'm sure. Thank you so, so much for a lovely time.

The service was impeccable, food was fantastic. The room was so modern and perfectly designed. We appreciated all the small details, the magazines and simple mini bar. And the ability to take any food from the restaurant up to room.

Such a beautiful building, it's just a shame of the surrounding location! But that's no fault of the hotel. It was a beautiful premises.
