Penny and Lain were incredibly kind hosts! They were always warm and friendly. The property itself was most elegant and felt like a cottage out of a story book! Complete with seaviews, Victorian bathtubs and all the trimmings. The bed was amongst the coziest I've ever slept in and the room was equipped with a heater which worked perfectly on the beautiful, rainy days we experienced. We were at walking distance from restaurants and supermarkets. Ubers were readily available too. A continental breakfast was on offer every morning with coffee & a plethora of wonderful teas! This, without doubt, should be your B&B of choice in Tauranga! Thanks so much, Penny & Lain.

My friend and I had a great night of sleep. The bed was super comfortable and the hosts were friendly. It is a lovely accommodation and it has some interesting history around it. The living room is absolutely gorgeous and we kind of wish we had stayed a bit longer. One thing that took me by surprise is that this is not your usual hotel with staff members and a front desk. It was a different experience for sure. The shower was also quite interesting - it was the perfect size for me, but my tall friend found it a bit uncomfortable. Breakfast was nicely set up when we came downstairs. There was fruit, milk, yoghurt, toast, croissants, cereal, coffee and tea.

The croissants didn't taste very fresh. They were a bit dry.

Lovely boutique old world bnb. Beautiful house and delicious generous breakfast. Friendly enough host although we didn't see anyone (host) in the morning which seemed a little odd. Nice and warm and very comfortable. Quiet location. Close to city.

Bathroom was tiny and shower very low set (armpit height!) the water from shower floods the whole bathroom floor and there's nowhere to put clothes so best leave clothes in bedroom to avoid getting them wet. Also would be great to have a fan in the bathroom as it gets very steamy in that little room. Not big issues. Would definitely stay again.

It was a very pleasant staying in Taiparoro House in Tauranga. You cannot imagine a better place to stay there! The room was very nice and cozy, The house itself is a living history - it was built in 19th century and you can still feel that it's old and unique. The hosts - Penny and Ian are very nice and helpful people. They serve continental breakfast and it's most delicious breakfast I had - including croissants, vegetables, fruits, toasts, good quality muesli and many more! I strongly recommend you to stay in this place!

A lovely friendly place close to town, house as beautiful as it looks in the photos, very quiet and warm, everything we needed and more.

With one end of the road closed for road works and very poor signage both for the property itself and Tauranga streets in general, the place was almost impossible to find. Think it would be good to warn guests and give them some extra help, having to drive through Burger King to access the road is not what anyone would expect? Also parking could have been better, a bit nervous about parking on a lawn out front, especially in the terrible weather. But street was quiet so not really a problem.

Penny and Iain are wonderful hosts, Taiparoro House is simply stunning, the accommodation is spotlessly clean, beautifully renovated to reflect the age it was built in 1882. Also outrageously comfortable and homely, all located in a precinct of restaurants, supermarkets and the CBD of Tauranga. We booked for one night, stayed two and wished we could have stayed another, great decision for any traveller and highly recommended..

Nothing…

Lovely, historic (1882) character villa overlooking Tauranga harbour, very quiet location but close to the centre, so it's an easy walk into town. Great views of the harbour from the end room, which has it's own small living room. A very good breakfast is served in the dining area of the guest lounge, which is itself a very special, beautiful room looking out on to a very private garden. The rooms are all upstairs and parking is in front of the garages, so cars are visible from the street if that is a consideration.

Be aware that the stairs are narrow and steep, to be expected in an old villa, but a consideration if stairs are a problem for any guests.

I am very happy that I chose this place. The warm and nice living area made me feel home when I walked in the house. Penny and her family were very friendly and welcoming. They lived on the other side of the house. Good variety of breakfast presented nicely and beautiful view from the balcony. Room size was larger than my expectation. Everything was wonderful and will definitely choose it again. Highly recommend.

Nice quiet room overlooking the water. Luxurious linens and a super comfortable bed made for excellent sleep. The continental breakfast was generous, and the common areas allow for a feeling of space. The gardens are beautiful. I really enjoyed my stay.

A very cute house tucked in the middle of Tauranga. Within walking distance to the CBD and many restaurants. There was parking available around the house. Our room had a beautiful unobstructed view of the water, was very spacious and clean, and had its own bathroom. Would highly recommend this place.
