Everything worked well, the bed was very comfortable, adequate provisioning of towels, Nice TVs. An older property, but very well maintained and clean. Unit 21, where we stayed on our trip back to Christchurch, did not have quite as large a main TV. Room was really a fully-fledged holiday unit - you could happily live there for a week or two. Countdown (Woolworths) very close, plus lots of good shops nearby in town (3mins or so by car). The people who run it are very nice, and deserve to be successful. When we travel we value cleanliness, quietness, safety, comfortable bed and a hot shower. This site delivered on all of these!

In common with many hotels today, lack of storage in the Bathroom for guest toiletries etc. Unit 21 had a big issue with distance from its Hot water supply. Unfortunately you had to run the taps for quite a few minutes to get hot water - once it arrived, it was excellent and plentiful, but I felt we'd wasted a lot of water before then!

Exceptionally clean and fresh. Fixtures and fittings seemed brand new. Very well equipped. Friendly welcome on arrival, and were given all the information we needed about local places to eat etc. This is the first time in our (so far) 20 or so days touring NZ where we have given a 10 out of 10 score. Aspen on King is the best yet. Thoroughly recommended.

Bed a bit too soft - but that is just a preference, not a criticism.

Unit well equipped, comfortable and quiet. Free use of washing machine and dryer, also staff helped with supplying pegs as we wanted to make use of the lovely afternoon sun and breeze by using the clothes line. Walk thru botanic gardens thru to beach. Could walk to town if you wanted.

Need to drive to town to find an eatery, although there was a chippy just up the road. No problem to do this.

The room was quiet and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the unit was warm. The kitchenette was well equipped. There was space for sitting outside, although we didn't use it on our one night stay. We were able to walk along to Stafford Street from the motel and get something to eat.

The bathroom was very small and awkward with the shower box raised up about 20cm. The toilet and shower were in a separate room with the basin in the bedroom. The shower was good though, with plenty of hot water.

A spacious unit, with very comfortable bed, big bathroom area (with a spa bath - although we didn't get to try this). TVs in both the lounge and bedroom, with access to numerous digital channels. Set back down a driveway from the road, so it was quiet. Only a few minutes drive to the centre of Timaru, so it was close to restaurants and shops. Well maintained unit with modern fittings and decor.

One night a storm with gale force winds revealed that the window over the bed did not close tightly as the catch wedge appeared to be missing, so the whistling disturbed our sleep. However, the weather was extreme, and the other two nights of our three night stay were undisturbed.

All good.

As mentioned to Sandra. While there were 2 mugs and 2 teaspoons provided, another two of each would be good for all guests. When we asked, extra mugs were willingly supplied. Some minor maintenance items: 1. the door to the bathroom sticks a bit, needs some adjustment. 2. the half flush button on the toilet wasn't working. 3. the net curtain on the sliders didn't slide across fully.

Absolutely enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely and clean, warm and spacious. Had everything we needed. We will definitely be staying here again. Staff were fantastic, it was quiet. Can't rate Aspen on King highly enough 🤩

There was only one coffee bag in the room 😭

Happy to reccomend Aspen on king to any of my friends. Loved every little detail that they have put in for the comfort of the guests. Great amenities and all the little things you would need they provide like scissors! who knew i needed them but when I did they provided. Really happy about the quality of the rooms, the quality of the chattels and overall staff friendliness. The area is quiet as the rooms are far from the road, you do not hear any traffic. The spa bath was amazing! best bath ive had in years. Thanks a lot

The bed was the most lacking. Very clean but very uncomfortable and I could feel the springs. Belongs in a student flat not this quality of hotel. Lighting in the living/kitchenette was slightly lacking and dark. Either had the bright main light or a very dim wall light. I ended up bringing a room lamp through from the bedroom and that helped a lot. there is no extractor fan in the bathroom and the windows in the spa did not have a second latch and as the room was on the ground floor if I left the windows wide open to circulate air anyone would be able to put their head through and watch me.

Handy to town and beach

Condensation on the inside on ground floor from units 11-8 are a little on the cold side and with no sun all day in the lounge/kitchenette,could benefit from Retro double glazing. The furniture and decor a little outdated

The carparks are right outside the units and when guests get up and leave their van idling heating up right outside your window while they get themselves together at 4;45am that's not cool
