Fair price for a country pub. Very pleasant staff and Kim ? a great hostess Nice room & facilities and a good place to rest after a long day.. Food was well priced and breakfast was a bonus. I was surprised that it did not have more guests who might have been travelling N/ S. Would stay again if I was thinking of stopping overnight at either Timaru/Oamaru

The staff are very friendly and accommodating, they went out of their way to look after us. This included walking us around the rooms, explaining the happy hour activities and how Breakfast would work (Which was included). The meals were cheap, large and fast to come out. They have great parking and access after hours. The rooms are large, clean and more comfortable than your average hotel. Even the other patrons were friendly.

No space for this but it wasn’t actually me who stayed, it was my work mate. She was very happy and her room sort after by others and staff successfully managed the situation to work out well for everyone. Much appreciated so well done.

Bedroom was well set up for our family and the breakfast room was an ideal set up for two early rising children. All the staff we encountered were friendly and warm. We had lunch in the bar one day - it was amazing - highly recommend.

The buzz of full pub and very busy, chatty staff. Lovely food. Room and facilities fab.

Not a dislike...but the mirrors in the bedrooms need to be lowered so that shorter people can see in it. My partner had to stand on the bed to use it. More cups in the breakfast room.

Breakfast was very good for continental. Great muesli. The owner personally waited for my late arrival. Both he and his better half are very personable.

Couldn't find anyone to give the key to when I left at 9am. The front door self-locked as I went out, so it was fortunate I didn't need to get inside again, but had to leave the key outside (It was only a room key)

The location was close to where we wanted to go - Waimate Regent theatre. The owner was friendly and process for checking in and out is very simple.

The lack of internet access was the only issue for us. The location has zero cellular network coverage. I brought two phones, one Vodafone and one 2 Degrees. But none of them had enough signal for accessing the internet. The hotel has wifi, but I asked the owner for the password but I never had a chance to get it. It will be much better, if they can leave the wifi password on a piece of paper in the room, so that future guests can access the internet while staying. I will be happy to stay again if they can provide internet access in the future.

Epic in every way possible. True southern hospo and fantastic meals. They should come with a warning on how massive they are! True value. Can’t wait to stay again!

Great place to stay! Staff were all very friendly and helpful even when they were busy with a fundraiser they were hosting. Very accommodating with children (cool wee playground and toy box). We will be back to stay in the future!

I loved everything especially the staff who went out of their way to accommodate us . it is always the small touches that make a trip special and getting an upgrade and providing free b’fast adds to the charm of this beautiful pub.
