Nicely renovated older style, spacious motel units. Near a very busy main road but our unit towards the back was quiet. Comfortable bed. Bathroom with separate shower and a spa bath. Older style lighting over the hand basin meant that you could actually see your face in the mirror (unlike some modern bathrooms that just have a ceiling light)! Clean and neat.
Difficult to turn into driveway of the motel from a very busy main highway. Awkward parking at the motel itself. Our unit had some stairs that needed to be negotiated carrying our luggage, so it would not be suitable for people with mobility issues.

We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom room, which was nicely decorated, new curtains and carpet and a large spacious bathroom. Adequate kitchenette with an oven/cooker but no dishwasher. Comfortable bed and the bed linen was of a very good quality - not thin, like in some places we have stayed in NZ. It's right on the SH1 road heading south to Dunedin. All in all. we thought it was brilliant value at roughly £80 for a night
We weren't bothered by the hum of the traffic (room 5) but light sleepers should avoid the rooms by the road edge. Our only criticism was the awful Wi-Fi download speed and this does need attention

The apartment was quite modern, good size and well-furnished. It had all essentials, including a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. Especially, we liked the bathroom, which was quite luxury, with a nice spa bath and a beauty set. The bedrooms were good size and cosy with comfy beds. The staff were kind and welcoming, and the location was OK. We were offered a room upgrade for the same price as they had a larger free apartment, so we ended up having 3 rooms with 1 double bed and 3 single beds for just the two of us. It was the biggest apartment we got in NZ at a very attractive price.
There wasn't anything we didn't really like.

Good sized unit and super clean. Reception staff happy and friendly. Kitchen had what we needed to make breakfast. Bed was comfy and warm, TV worked and Sky was accessible. I was impressed with the 'Rubbish', 'Recycling' and 'Compost' bins - it's the first motel we've used in our NZ stay that has Compost Bins.
The only thing we didn't like was that the shower's hottest option was warm and had low pressure, which was surprisingly as the hot water system was in the cupboard opposite.

Room was well appointed and clean. Very quiet considering SH1 being so close.
First impressions can influence an opinion. So some simple grounds maintenance eg lawns mowed and gardens manicured would create a better perception of whats on offer. Also with shrubbery trimmed it would reduce the hazardous blind spots when exiting the property onto an immensely busy highway.

This complex was extremely clean with great kitchen and bathroom facilities, although both were a little outdated, but it doesn't impact the functionality in any way. Spa bath, great sized bathroom and kitchen with good sized fridge made a big difference to our stay. The bed was very comfortable and a great size. Dining table and 2 large comfy chairs to relax in after a day of sightseeing was very much appreciated. The room had everything we needed for a short stay and had very good wifi connection.
There was a very strong air freshener somewhere in the room which both my husband and I reacted to. It made breathing difficult during the night and despite searching high and low for the air freshener (thinking it might be hanging somewhere or was placed somewhere inconspicuous) I could not find it. It was way too strong, and I can imagine would potentially be dangerous for those with asthma or other respiratory conditions. While we really appreciated how spotlessly clean this room was the smell was overpowering. The complex is on the main road which is extremely busy so if you're not used to traffic noises all night this is not the place you would want to stay.

It was exceptional for the price we paid and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff service was excellent being prompt with requests in a lovely manner. It had been well updated and the spa bath was lovely. Adequate parking and in a position in the town to access the bay and township easily. We checked out Centennial Park, the penguins and had a nice meal at the Bay Hill Bar. Glad we did.
The wifi dropped out a few times.

Very pretty motel, more like annexes to someone's house rather than a commercial hotel, with mini gardens scattered between paths to rooms. Felt very relaxing immediately. Rooms very spacious, good chairs etc, bed a bit firm. Air cooling with fans was adequate, kitchen good. Hosts wonderful, very friendly, well organised, lots of local info to hand, helpful re nearest supermarkets and general town layout, maps, etc, and other odd requests (thank you John!). Location enabled good access to local park, town centre, etc.
Car parking was very tight, and some other guests took up too much room (but hosts let me use one of their spaces which was great!). Also some traffic noise heard on weekdays (but almost all Timaru motels would face that).

The apartment units were immaculately clean, super comfortable. And had every thing you needed to be able to cook and live comfortably if you were staying longish term. Great size rooms. The beds and pillows were super comfy. Easy check in and out process.
It's on the state highway, so there is a bit of traffic noise. But to be fair a large percentage of Timaru accommodation is on the highway, so they have the same traffic noise.

The rooms were good size, bed comfortable, kitchen and bathroom was good and provided wat we needed and location was good for our needs.
While i said the location was good, it also wasn't good merely because the motel is on the main road of Timaru so traffic was loud all day and even during the night. There's nothing you can do about that but if you are a light sleeper it could be an issue.
