Breakfast wonderful, staff fantastic, helpful, well presented, big smiles, nothing was a problem.. easy access to room, dinning and Barr.
1: The shower floods the floor up to the carpet protected Barr, that’s a little weird...! I had to make towel roles to barrier off the lake from getting to the carpet. But, they provide extra towels for the river boat feature, so, how fantastic is that, a shower and a cruise, I was loving it. 2: the central room single main light is very dull. Well, it’s excellent if your into romantic mood lighting, but I was on my own so, I can only cope with so much self romance, but the two switches above the bed, were handy and perfectly situated. So, over all, a great visit, there’s no such thing as a perfect room, only a perfect guest: 😎

The bed was very comfy, the bathroom was well set up and we enjoyed watching the shipping movement from our windows. The staff were exceptional ALWAYS had great big smiles and nothing was too much trouble. The beautiful ceiling in the lobby was magnificent with it's gold and cream plaster moldings. and moldings on the wall. The restaurant was good and the food was tasty. Breakfast and dinner at night.
It appeared to be a bit dark and dungy when we arrived but as we got to knw the place better we realised what a priviledge it was to be staying in a heritage building. At present they are doing it up and earthquake strengthening it, but the building is nearly 140 years old. It was a little cold and the heater in the room was noisy but heated it up. the window catches were not very good nd there was a bit of daft when the wind blew. disappointed the restaurant did not allow for meals over Easter

It was more spacious than i expected. Incredibly clean. Bar is downstairs and the food was good. The young lass tending bar was awesome and friendly. Did not get any bar noise in the room.... very quiet and the art deco walls by the lift are awesome... old fashioned lift was like going back in time.... but the room was modern...
It was nice but sparse... microwave or toaster would have been good but the restaurant was there.... it was really nice but the chairs to watch tv were 1950s and vinyl and hard.... but the bed made up for it...

This is the Hotel Queen Elisabeth stayed in when visiting Timaru in 1977. We stayed in a disability room with lots of space a suitable shower for my needs and comfortable bed. This was on the 3rd floor but apparently from what our friends told us the 2nd floor had photos of Queen Elizabeth on their doors. So guessing that was the floor she stayed in. It was very handy to have a full working bar and restaurant on site and very busy it was.
Everything was good

I booked a room in the last minute as I didn't plan on coming to Timaru and I arrived one hour later at the hotel. The receptionist was very friendly and actually upgraded me to a bigger room. The room was quite big and everything was clean. I used the option to have breakfast, so I had to place my order by 8pm the evening before and in the morning I could eat it in the bar downstairs. The bar is actually quite nice and lively (not in the morning ;-)
The hotel is past its glory but they make a fair attempt in keeping it fashionable. The exterior is undergoing some works and I had the scaffolding in front of my windows. Mind you, the view (on the carpark) wouldn't have been much better.

Friendly staff, clean comfy room. Good menu , dinner and breakfast options. Refurbished rooms are fantastic
Appreciate you're renovating but workmen drilling and hammering at 645am not good. Room 209. Didn't know that building work was happening when booking was made so not happy about that .

Newly renovated room and quite surprising in a good way. Was expecting an old room but was greeted with a brand new modern-looking room with new facilities. With spacious room. Don't let the old room pictures fool you. It was way better. And the bathroom, amazing! Close to amenities, shops, cafes, and bars.
The fixed shower head. Really hard to aim to your body. You have to move in a certain way as you can't take the shower head off. The building facade, still under renovation. But probably won't be for too long though.

Was very nice and relaxing peaceful, the staff were lovely and very accommodating. Beautiful hotel very cosy and warm, we loved the old lift too. The rooms have been renovated to a very high standard, we enjoyed our stay here. I look forward to visiting the restaurant and bar, sometime again when I am in Timaru again. Not too far from many local attractions, like Caroline bay and the town too
I loved it all wish could have stayed longer.

Check in staff were confused about whether breakfast was available. First we were told no then Sharon (who is absolutely great, by the way) corrected it and assured us that breakfast was available. The food was really splendid. My spouse had a fried chicken salad that was tasty. Hurrah to your new chef.
Obviously you are in the process of refurbishing the place. So the levels up updating are not consistent. The doors are crummy but I’m sure will be fixed. It’ll look fab when complete.

This is our second stay. We stayed a few years ago and really liked here. We came back and enjoyed the stay again. Staff were friendly and the room was clean. The location is great. Lots of restaurants and shops are around the hotel. My dog was happy staying there. Thank you.
The bathroom needs to be removed the blackness. Outside was a bit noisy.
