The location is supreme. It is so easy to access to railway station, buses and taxi. AX bus direct travel between airport and the accommodation. The room is spacious, it would be bonus if provide a desk or a table. Booked 2 single rooms with shared bathroom, end up 2 single rooms and have bathroom only shared between the guests from the 2 rooms. Independent sinks for each room. Kitchen has hot water tank provide immediate hot water. Metal benchtops are very useful, can put hot pots and pans on, and easy to clean. And there are sufficient number of them for guests to use. Comfortable and sufficient space at dinning area.

Expect the blanket is warmer, or another extra piece. Or the heater able to set by the guest, current it is not on. The wind getting through the hotel building can be very noisy during windy day. The bathroom shower tap hard to adjust the right water temperature, either too hot or too cold. The bed is a bit soft, but overall decent comfort. The bed sheet from day 1 has lots of stain, but didn't see this after. If there is another kitchen that will be idea, some times there were too many guests using it. kitchen equipment aren't sufficient, running out of pans, knife, fork quite easy. If there is kitchen towel instead of cloths it would be bonus.

Its proximity to the city and transport. Its cheap and I am not paying for what I do not need. Because I have been there before I know how to get around in an unfamiliar city. The swipe cards for access to lift and room worked well every time.

The exhaust from the restaurant below was left on one night. It was incredibly loud. I had bought earplugs the day before as I initially though it was just air-conditioning compressors. I did use them on the night it was left on. I did mention it to receptionist in the morning and he was apologetic.

Good vibes, staff really helpful. Loved the old fashioned decor, felt like I was stepping back in time. Super well situated close to train station and Blue ridge ferry terminal and yet only a few blocks from all the city centre attractions.

Not much to complain about but maybe those 2 little details that could make all the difference 😊 The shared bathroom could use a floor squeegy so we can tidy the floors of the Italian shower before the next door person uses it. A lamp bedside table would be appreciated to be able to read in bed without having to get back up again to turn off the light.

Location, comfort and facilities provided were awesome. Fantastic value for money! Bed was super comfortable. The room looks exactly like the picture (minus the broken window).

Our window was broken and had been taped and glued over which left us with a lot of road noise and drafts. The noise was the biggest downside but I think that if the windows were fixed then this would be better. The windows were also unable to be opened. It was very bright at night as the office next door had its lights on all night (not the hotels fault). Would have also been nice to have a mini fridge or something but that is a bit of a luxury.

Convenience of Location, smooth running, shared bathrooms or individual ones, price Pretty good. on line booking.

Kitchen big and functional, but a bit dirty at times - have written noted about need to floor mop, keep bins clean, have a proper rubbish recycling system, more food bins and labels for food storage. Should have a senior manager in charge, enforce the rules about cleaning dishes, no dirty ones left in sinks ( esp amoung permanent guests), etc. And for goodness get heaps more cutlery, plates, cups, saucepans- can get heaps cheap at Op shops. As day wears on shelves for others become empty. And more teatowels. Plus more encouraging signage ( and enforced rules?) Michael Orchard

This was my first hostel stay, and I was pleasantly shocked. I expected a run-down, outdated dump, but I loved staying here! The rich history of the structure is respected and preserved, yet everything pertaining to comfort has been nicely updated and modernized—beautiful washroom, comfy beds and pillows. The pub next door is gorgeous, and the breakfast special was so good, and what a great value! I was actually a little sad to leave. My daughter and I were able to store our luggage in a locker, no charge, while we explored downtown Wellington.

Frankly, I was happy with everything.

Staff always there to let me put my bike into storage. When I arrived on an evening Bluebridge ferry in the rain, it was literally the shortest journey you could imagine to get to the hotel. I love the Art Deco styling of the hotel, especially the lions at the door and the lamp in the lobby.

When I was hanging out in the dining room/ lounge on level 1, I didn't find a toilet on that level, so I had to go up to level 2 to use one. The second art-deco nude lamp in the stairwell was looking a bit neglected with it's bulb/globe missing

I really enjoyed my stay! The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I had a private room, and I love having a desk, closet, and luggage stand so that I could organize my belongings. Having my own microwave, kettle, and offerings of tea and coffee was wonderful! I wish I could have stayed here for my entire Wellington trip (4 nights) but only stayed here for the last 2 nights. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for reasonably-priced accommodations close to the waterfront. I love that the reception desk is open 24 hours.

The bed was a little uncomfortable, but I was still able to get a full night of sleep both nights.

The location is great, near all the major transports, including the Bluebridge ferry. The reception operates 24 hrs so even when the bus got delayed and we got to Wellington at 10 pm we could still check-in by midnight. The 3 people rooms are a nice change even if 2 such rooms share a bathroom, it is still easier to sleep than having 6 or 8 together, the bad luck was that the guy was snoring anyways 😅 The hotel itself has a large kitchen and comfortable (also large and authentic) lounge and tv room

Having "private" bathroom for 6 people isn't ideal, having the common rooms only on 1 floor could also prove crowded at times probably though that wasn't the case during my stay.

i had a single room with ensuite bad. All was fine except that the window did not close properly. The room was equipped with water kettle, microwave, small electro heater. The matress and bedding were ok, shower functioned well. The location in the city is fantastic. Just over the street you have the railway, bus, ferry terminal. Cable car, wharf, restaurants in 10 minutes walk. That is why I recommend sleeping there.

The location entrance and shared facilities look like in an old Hollywood movie where in a broke hotel you expect to run into Norman Bates. Everything shabby or broke. The bar closed and filled with rubbish. The lounge and kitchen uncomfortable. But for me it was no problem since I only used my single room and water kettle. I went out to nice Restaurants like Rosie‘s and Le Saigon.
