Beautiful building, immaculate rooms that were spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds and a great breakfast.
Extremely noisy in the evening from the student community (hotel is close to the university) Lots of amplified music until 2am from the streets and nearby accommodation.

Fantastic boutique hotel situated in a beautiful residential area close to everything. All major attractions are located from 10 to 20 min walk. Staff is very friendly and always willing to help. The breakfast is just incredible. Be mindful that the hotel does not have lift and, depending where your room is, you might have to climb 2 or 3 stories. This was not an issue for us at all, but good to keep in mind in case you have heavy luggage or issues using stairs. I would definitely recommend to stay in this part of the city.
The mattress and pillows in our room (32) were extremely soft, which caused us some back pain in the mornings. I would really suggest to upgrade them to something more neutral (not too soft, not too firm). A very firm mattress is uncomfortable, but a mattress on the opposite site of the spectrum is also a nightmare.

Beautiful hotel, interesting art and furnishings. The warmth of the staff matched the warmth of the hotel. Very convenient for the railway station and city. Situated in the University area which is picturesque, the University cafe is a lovely space to sit, on the terrace if warm or inside if cooler, still great views of the garden. The concert hall is a 5 minute walk and is a spectacular space. There is tea and fresh baked brownies in the breakfast room each afternoon. Staff were so helpful including Kaspar who helped us sort a meal out. I would highly recommend the experience this hotel offers.

We traveled from Flam to Bergen by bus, and the bus depot was a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. If you're traveling with a lot of luggage, take care that the hotel is on top of a hill. Not a big one, but still a hill. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, and we helped ourselves to complementary brownies and croissant pastries on the first floor breakfast dining area. After dinner, we stopped by the dining area for a nighttime tea, which was lovely. The hotel itself is located next to the University of Bergen and the Nygårdsparken Park, which makes for a great walk after dinner or breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, it was great! They had a basic Norwegian breakfast spread, nothing too fancy, but everything was fresh and good ingredients. The scrambled eggs were actually soft and creamy, not the usual hard, rubbery eggs served at hotel breakfasts! Location-wise, it's only a five minute walk to the city center. I would stay here again!
This is very specific to the timing of when we stayed here, which was in early September. There was some humidity from the late summer heat combined with Bergen rain and our room didn't have air conditioning. The room did come with two table fans, which we used and were pretty comfortable after that. Another thing to note about staying here in September, we could hear nearby parties from the university students! Maybe there was more party noise than usual because of students returning in September? Honestly, it was quite charming and had us reminiscing! After closing the window, the room was almost soundproof and blocked out all of the noise. Just a heads up for anyone considering this location in September!

The breakfast was exceptional! The food was varied, fresh, and plenty of it. Lots of choices, even had some gluten free bread! The room where breakfast is served is welcoming and cozy. The staff keep the food coming and are friendly.
The twisting stairs to get to my room, where a bit of a challenge, because I was carrying my suitcase and wearing my back pack. I did not know that there wasn't an elevator. But again, it is designated as an European Historic Hotel. If you can't do stairs, be sure you get a room on the first floor. I believe there aren't many of those rooms, most rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

The staff were great! The young man at reception(student) was very helpful and friendly as was the young lady who checked me out of the hotel. The staff at breakfast were very pleasant too. Very good breakfast. Very tastefully decorated-stylish. Decor in dining room traditional Norwegian and most attractive. Hotel has a homely feel about it. Exceptionally clean. Comfortable bed-I slept like a log. The offer to have complimentary tea/coffee and brownies all day is unusual but very welcome. I would definitely stay here again if coming back to Bergen-I didn't want to leave the hotel! Everything just felt 'right'.
Nothing really. It would have been helpful to have a mirror in the room (room 12) as I couldn't see what I was doing when I dried my hair. There isn't a lift but it's an old property and it wasn't a problem.

Ideal location for visits of the University of Bergen. Single rooms are really small, but you can use also the breakfast room and the lobby where you can have free tea and excellent brownies during the afternoon and evening. Breakfast is really good and tasty. I especially enjoyed the scrabled eggs (much better than in large hotels) and smoothie.
The rooms is really small which means that there is no storage space such as shelves or a case for clothes or books.

This hotels is impressive with its style and quality. Our room was quite comfortable, the breakfast was delightful. It's very classy that there is free coffee and croissant service in lunch time. We had a very pleasant stay here.
This isn't the fault of the hotel but just be aware that the near parking station doesn't cost 250 nok per day. We were charged almost double price. And our only issue with the hotel; why no slippers for the bathroom! :)

The room was a reasonable size and well decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice of cold foods. The staff were friendly and helpful - we arrived at about 12:30am and there was someone in reception to greet us. We liked the location - only a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of the city but in a quiet neighbourhood and the tram stop to and from the airport is only a 10min walk away. It's next to a park, which is worth a visit. It felt more personal than a large, chain hotel, and we would stay again.

Beautiful older building, well cared for and maintained. Nicely decorated and very clean. Lovely breakfast and friendly, attentive staff. Fairly close to the center of town. Separate duvets for each person in the bed.
Having to lug our 50lb suitcases upstairs because of no elevator/lift. (I realize it’s Europe and this is common but it was a struggle). The mattresses seemed a bit worn but had nice pads on top to try and make up for it but we still ended up rolling into each other in the middle of the bed at night because it wasn’t a very sturdy/supportive mattress. 1.2-1.5km away from center of town and steep hills to walk up and down.
