Fabulous hotel in a superb location Had a deluxe 3rd floor room looking out over the square - no issue with noise. There was a wedding reception on the Saturday night and some of the party spilled out into the street around midnight with sparklers and song which was actually really nice to witness. All were impeccably behaved Super comfy bed and excellent blackout curtains Powerful shower in a large enclosure. Molton Brown accessories Nespresso coffee maker and kettle with a range of coffees and teas Restaurant, bar and lobby all impressive. Good breakfast All the staff we dealt with were lovely, ultra smart, professional and friendly. And all spoke perfect English The light rail/tram runs from the airport every few minutes, cost £1.50 each and terminates about 400 yards from the hotel entrance

The air conditioning operates via a vent system and can't be turned off at the wall. So even when the fan isn't on there is a low background hum Restaurant food was excellent when we dined on Saturday evening, but menu a bit limited (set 3 or 5 course or a few a la carte items)

Beautiful hotel, just near where the boats pull in and right in the centre of town near the port. Not far from the train station. Room and bed was super comfortable although not huge due to the gorgeous high ceilings and full height windows which you could actually open! It felt lovely, there was lovely wide window sills and a view over the town. The staff was very helpful I arrived late on the last ferry from Flam and the young man that helped me up to my room also gave me a great suggestion to see the Edvard Grieg ( the owners of the hotel are related) the Norwegian composers villa on the outskirts of town, I would also recommend this as their is a intimate concert twice a day on the grounds and the villa is beautiful. Very quiet. The breakfast looked beautiful unfortunately I had early starts.

The room service was the only thing I had an issue with as arriving late it finished at 9pm. Although the young man on the front desk suggested a local delivery service and was very helpful

Everything, extremely kind and supportive staff, wonderful building in the center of Bergen. The hotel is a very special place, it is a monumental building, full of history, the property is managed by the family of Edward Grieg. We arrived a little earlier than the regular check in time, we were taken care of the waiting time, we had a beautiful room with a view of the city, breakfast was served in an amazing restaurant, big choice of food, everything delicious,. The hotel even has a small museum with Edward Grieg's memory that is so unique and creates a very special atmosphere. This hotel combines the heritage of one of Norway's greatest composers with modern, comfort and world-class service. Many thanks for amazing stay, we will definitely come back.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

The property was formerly one of the earliest banks in Bergen, and it's privately owned by the same family for generations. It has so much personality and very well maintained. The restaurant is fabulous, as well as their breakfasts. And a special surprise to me...was at breakfast they had musicians play, a great violinist a few mornings, and a pianist the other mornings I was there. I've never experienced this before, and oh gosh, it was such a great way to begin your morning while traveling! I needed some flexibility in my travel dates so they worked with me and were so kind and accommodating!! They communicate via WhatsApp, so all of my requests where addressed within seconds, and they took care of my requests within minutes! The staff was so friendly and helpful!! I'm so looking forward to going back to Bergen so I can stay in this hotel again!!

I'm not sure if this was offered, but I didn't notice it, though it would be nice to be able to grab an afternoon snack in the lobby area. But they always had fresh water available, which was great!

Everything was excellent. I loved the live piano music during breakfast and the hotel has real history and cultural significance - a must stay for fans of Edvard Grieg’s music. My case was looked after before and after my stay; the location allows for short walks to most things you want to do in Bergen; the staff were all of the same high standard of customer service, incredibly knowledgeable of the area and going out of their way to help; the hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was very spacious and comfortable; having a Nespresso machine and a kettle was very useful. It’s an expensive hotel but it’s worth every penny. 10/10

Amazing hotel centrally placed so that it was easy to get to all of the cities attractions. Breakfast catered for dietary requirements very well. Had a very enjoyable stay.

The safe was locked when I arrived late at night, and was told this could not be fixed until the next morning, the following morning I was taking with me the items to breakfast, however I took them out for the day and was not advised the safe would time out and lock again if I did not set up a combination. I decided to just carry the items with me or lock them in my suitcase which was inconvenient. I would of preferred to use the room safe.

The hotel was in a perfect location, not too far from the train station if you are travelling with luggage. The staff were fabulous, very friendly, helpful and full of useful information. The room and the bathroom were spacious and very clean. We ate at the hotel one night and that was very good food. The service from the French waiter was superb. Breakfasts were good too.

The restaurant was closed on the Sunday night and the bar wasn't fully open either. We went down for a drink before we went out of the dinner and there was no cocktails, just a limited menu. It closed very early for a hotel too.

Outstanding hotel with incredible staff. They are true professional and very well trained, the quality of the staff doesn't depend on who you speak to, they all offer the most highest service standards. It is very rare to see this. Restaurant is great, fine food. Breakfast is à la carte and you can order anything you want, it is all included in the standard breakfast fee: so good !

The only negative comment I have is regarding my room: I had booked a superior room and still had view on a wall/ part of the building blocking the light. I asked to change and could change only the day after which wasn't fully satisfying, because the superior rooms with view are actually same price as that one I had without. When I changed room I also felt the new one was bigger. I would recommend to downgrade the room that has no view that I am referring to above to a lower fare.

Opus 16 is right in the old town near all the main sights and very quiet and convenient. Staff very friendly. The beds were very comfortable

The restaurant was closed for several days and it was very difficult to book a table. Unusual in a hotel of this standard that guests cannot dine in when wanted. I would also create a simple room service meal option for those who simply want to snack rather than have a gourmet meal. A couple of little issues like the room safe not working and the plug missing in the bathroom sink.

December 2022

This was our second visit to Bergen (a beautiful city), but our first to the Opus 16 hotel. We stayed for two nights, had breakfast both days and dinner on the first night and it was absolutely excellent. As our stay was in December 2022, the hotel was suitably decorated with a stunning Christmas tree and various ornaments, all done in a very tasteful style to complement the amazing interior of this outstanding hotel. The staff were excellent – friendly, efficient, professional and regularly going “the extra mile“ to provide a great customer experience. A couple of examples would be when we were talking to the waitress at breakfast one morning and we mentioned we were about to take a 3 hour fjord trip which we were looking forward to and she offered to put some pain au chocolate & croissants into a bag for us to take on the tour. The following day, one of her colleagues was touring the corridors early evening with bottles of champagne and strawberries dipped into chocolate to offer to the guests. The food was outstanding in terms of quality, taste, and the variety of options to suit everyone - I won’t be telling his grandchildren, but my partner thoroughly enjoyed his reindeer carpaccio starter! When we write reviews of the places we’ve stayed at, we always like to offer some “constructive criticism“ to help improve the guest experience, but it is a sign of this establishment that my partner and I couldn’t think of anything!! We will definitely be back.

Nothing - everything was superb!
