Daeyoung Hotel Myeongdong

First of all, the hotel staff were incredibly helpful and kind and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. There was no language barrier even though we don’t speak Korean beyond “hello” and “thank you”. The location is very convenient, we were able to reach the most famous landmarks on foot (but if you don’t want to do that, there is a subway station very close to the hotel and Seoul Station is just one stop away which makes the commute to the airport very convenient). The rooms are well equipped (above the standard, we got way more amenities than in any other hotel we visited) and very clean. Also, there is a nice common space where you can sit and have coffee in the morning. Hotel WiFi worked smoothly. What I liked was that right behind the door to the room there is a small space to leave your outdoor shoes. It made us feel more at home as this is how we roll in our country as well.

Really really comfortable bed and pillow. Strategic location - walking distance to Myeongdong and Namdaemun; Seoul station is just one stop away; Shinsegae mall, Lotte mall are nearby. Room got window, ventilation is good. Room is quite spacious. Floor is warm.

The WiFi connection keeps dis-connected at night. Room 301, the door is opened to the inside (other rooms on the same floor are opened to outside), so it is quite inconvenient when coming in and out.

Tucked away in an alley near restaurants, subway line, and stores, this hotel felt very cozy. The Staff were warm and welcoming, the rooms are perfect size for me, I prefer small rooms, so clean and filled with all the amenities you will need. Superb location.

For the price and location this hotel is fantastic, yes the rooms are small because of location/price but they have everything you need, great aircon, shampoo/conditioner/bodywash/ a good hairdryer/ slippers/robes and a small window to see out into the city. The rooms were lovely and clean and cleaned daily. The bathroom was really good, bigger than expected and strong shower. The staff were all great and helped us cook our food in the small kitchen with microwave/hot water. There is a water filter machine as well to fill up bottles and a computer you can use. The location is perfect with a shop/subway/bus stops all within a few mins walk away, as well as the food market and main shopping streets. Perfect place to base yourself for exploring seoul.

The room was surprisingly big compared to the one we had in a much bigger hotel. We were very happy with the beds. They provide you with bathrobes, towels, tooth brushes, everything you need. Again waaay better service than a hotel we were in before. The hotel is in an alley. It's still close to everything and for us it was a win. Will definetly be booking again. At our arrival, I forgot my phone in the taxi and the lady at the reception was extremely helpful and actually cared and helped me until I got it back in that same hour. I was so grateful and wanted to offer a thank you coffee or a drink but she said "It's okay, you are my customer". This left an unforgettable good first impression. Thank you and see you in the future.

I cannot rate this hotel enough! The location was brilliant - round the corner from a station exit and less than 10 minute walk into the centre of Myeong-Dong. The room was spotless and had all the amenities you’d need including air con, toothbrushes, razors, etc. plus the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. For our next trip we wanted to stay south of the river but this hotel was so perfect we really want to stay here again. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Seoul.

Nothing - it was perfect for the two of us.

The bathroom was very nice and clean! It featured a modern toilet with a bidet function which was a pleasant surprise. Airconditioning, lighting and a minifridge made the room very comfortable and cozy. All in all, the interior decoration of the room and the hotel as a whole were elegant and clean. The room service was superb! We were provided with fresh towels and two bottles of 500ml mineral water (without charge!) everyday and the bin was cleared out on a daily basis - without exception. The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel's location is ideal for exploring Seoul on foot or via public transport; Namsan cable car can be reached in about 15 mins on foot, the nearest underground station is about 5 mins away. The underground station itself is connected to Line 4 which covers many of Seoul's attractions thus making them easy to reach. 24h convenience stores and a variety of restaurants - ranging from traditional Korean to western-style cafés and bistros - are all within walking distance of under 5 mins. Myeongdong district and Namdaemun market with their abundance of restaurants are easily reached in about 15-20 mins on foot. A global ATM is located within 10 mins walking distance at Standard Chartered Bank.

Would have liked a coat rack in the room.

I liked this overall. The staff (Nam Hi), convience, comfortable, location everything. But, I most love the staff (Nam hi) she is too kind and helpful. She speak English well and helped me alot on my Day 1 to Seoul. Hotel is just a walk of 1 min from Hoehyeon Subway from exit number 1.

Friendly, clean, great location. Reception were informative how to work the remotes for lights, air con etc. also lots of info / maps provided by reception if you needed any. Rooms were cleaned and towels and water etc. replaced every day. Leaving luggage was accommodated on my final day too so I could enjoy the city without having to wheel my suitcase around on my final day. Great location for getting around the centre and only 5 minute stroll from Namsan Park which was great for sunny mornings sat in the park.

Struggled a little to connect with the WiFi but otherwise a perfect stay!

This is a simple, quiet little hotel in a hidden alleyway, just steps from the subway station and airport coach stop. Busy Myeongdong shopping area is a few minutes' walk away. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bathroom is big and well-equipped. The rooms are small except for the top floor rooms, so unless you are travelling solo, you would be more comfortable there. Breakfast is not available but there are a couple of cafes very close-by, along with a money exchange which is handy. You can leave luggage there after you've checked out
