The staff make this hotel what it is. Everyone is super polite and very informative. The bakery is a great addition. They make fresh coffee too. Breakfast was good. Lots of fresh bread. The Spa is pretty good - it was nice and relaxing until 4 young kids arrived and screamed their heads off. Our room was nice. (Superior) - Fridge in the room which allowed us to get a few things from the local shop. Eating out can be expensive compared with UK but its Zermatt. Ate at the Hotels Grill on the first night. Really good food, the staff were fun and made you feel welcome. The grill chef is really good to watch. Ski boot room is nice and warm. Rented skis from the ski shop across the road. Get a discount when you say you are from the Rex. Location to get the Ski Bus's are great - short 3-5 minute walk down to get bus. We would stay at the Rex if we came back to Zermatt. Many Thanks.

A lovely friendly and comfortable hotel. Very helpful staff. Collected from the train station in the hotel shuttle. The room was very comfortable and very quiet. We even slept with the window open as we like a cool room and were not disturbed as it is in a quieter area. The breakfasts were lovely with very healthy options. The spa was great with a nice Finnish sauna and cold shower, steam room and a hot tub & swimming pool. Would without doubt stay at The Rex again.

The breakfast coffee wasn't the best. Would love the hotel shuttle to also drop off at the ski lifts in the morning.

The interior design of the hotel is very cosy and aesthetically pleasing. The warm pool in the SPA area was really warm. That provided us some warmth and relaxation during the rainy days when we are there.

I didn't like that the fact that I could only have a short stay there and also the generally soft pillows that is provided by all hotel in Switzerland.

We traveled 15 days in Switzerland, all hotels were in the $350 per night range, This was by far the best hotel out of every place we stayed, The view of the matterhorn from the room was Epic!, the breakfast that was included was 10 times better than any other hotel we stayed at, they bake bread every morning, Coffee was delicious, Staff were extremely helpful and to top it off the Resturant attached to the Hotel made an Epic Spicy Stake skewer! Fantastic Resturant!!!! I don't have enough good things to say about the REX. For context we are Americans from Hawaii that extremely enjoyed our relaxed trip through Switzerland and this was the best hotel we stayed at during our stay, a few of the other places in Interlaken and Zurich were much more expensive and not even close to as nice.

The church bell in Zermatt that rang every 15 min was quite annoying.

Beautiful hotel! Very centrally located to walk wherever you need to go. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The breakfast was great, buffet style but also a few options you could order from the kitchen. There’s a lovely little bakery attached and an outdoor garden bar during summer. And our room had a beautiful view of the Matterhorn right from the terrace. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely return our next time in Zermatt.

Our stay at The Rex was absolutely incredible. The rooms were well-appointed with incredible views of the Matterhorn from the master bedroom, adding to the already calm and chill atmosphere of the place. This place was so easy to relax at. The staff at The Rex was one of the highlights. The manager Martina and the rest of the staff were so helpful, friendly, and attentive. Martina even recognized our son by name while we were out for the evening, we were surprised but then after interacting with the staff t makes total sense, they all pay such close attention to detail. They always went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable, and we can't thank them enough. The food at The Rex was also top-notch. Highly recommend Stockhorn, no surprise that their restaurant would be equally as wonderful. Wish we had been able to take part in The Journey dining experience they offered, can only imagine how ridiculous that would have been. The breakfast and bar staff were always on it, and the breakfast/bakery and restaurant were some of the best places we ate while we were there. The tea was delicious and perfect for the chilly weather. The spa area was also fantastic, with every sauna you could possibly need after a long day on the slopes. And the location of The Rex was perfect - just a short walk from the main part of town but still quiet enough to feel like a peaceful retreat. Overall, we would highly recommend The Rex to anyone looking for an amazing place to stay. Even if everything else was terrible; the manager, staff, and food would still make it a 10 out of 10. Thanks again to everyone at The Rex for making our stay so memorable. We're already planning our next trip back!

Nothing. Exceptional all around

The location was amazing; now, looking back, after knowing better Zermatt, I think it id one of thee best locations you might have. the View from the room was great, with a lot of space in front of the eyes and the majestic view of Matterhorn. Besides that, the breakfast was absolutely amazing, with a lot of "home-made" bakery stuff, varied food and very warm personnel.

I really did not find something to dislike. Maybe the price, compared to other great hotels, in other locations, in other countries. Bu I think this is Swiss!

The Rex is a lovely warm and welcoming hotel. Great location, friendly staff, great view of the Matterhorn (weather dependent), lovely bedding, great spa and fabulous breakfast.

When poor weather and floods stopped us leaving for the night the staff asked us to leave the room at normal time instead of offering a late checkout. We ended up staying an extra night and unnecessarily using more bedding as well as having to pack and unpack.

The service was always so friendly, really relaxing, and I liked the room, especially cosy. In the room I found two books about orange wine and bread, which I would buy also for myself. Could only read one, so I have to come back :)

The wine menu in the cellar of the restaurant was actually a bit disappointing because the cellar was not as cosy as the restaurant itself IMHO. But it was nice to talk to the chef about the dishes, I enjoyed that!

All of it!!! this is the secret gem of Zermatt. Staff have been amazing throughout our stay with recommendations and bright and friendly no matter what time of day. our room was upgraded to a view of the Matterhorn which was perfect to wake up and have a cup of tea or homemade kombucha. our room was large with a comfy lounge area, and amazing shower and products, painted in a warm terracotta making it cosy throughout. the hotel has been refurbished keeping some of the old and new which brings character to your stay. the spa swimming pools and saunas are the perfect way to end the day up the mountain. To start the day breakfast is a must it is the best breakfast we have eaten in a hotel and we have eaten a lot, the bread is all homemade on site and could eat it easily for every meal of the day. we even brought some to take home from the bakery. we ate in the restaurant too and again the attention to detail and the produce cooked is spot on. The staff and the hotel were the perfect end to our trip and we can’t wait to return in the snow to ski. thank you!!
