The hotel had to close during my stay and I was relocated to their sister hotel, so this review is based on my stay at Sorell Hotel Rütli. The staff went out of their way to make the transition smooth and comfortable. I was in very good hands at all times :-) I had the queen bed room, a bit small but very cosy and in great condition. The breakfast was superb, with excellent Birchermüesli, fresh breads and high quality cold cuts. I look forward to returning to either of these hotels on my next Zürich visit!

After careful consideration, I can't find anything to complain about!

Great room! Stayed one night on the top floor and going back next week for our last two nights in Switzerland. Easy and straight forward Check in and out. Spacious room, great water pressure in the shower. Decent breakfast, basic continental, enough to fill your belly and get ready for a day of exploring. Coffee in the lobby and bedrooms is amazing. We watched the sunset over the city from our balcony. Amazing views. Tram is less than a minute walk, you can get either the no. 7 to main train station/shopping street or 15 to old town area/lake every 5 minutes. Very comfortable beds!

The buffet breakfast was excellent, lots of choice. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant. The room was of a good size. There was a large European style double-bed (i.e. 2 single mattresses). The main reason we booked this hotel was the ability to check-in at any time (check-in is carried out on a computer - no staff present at that time of night). I thought that for Zurich this was excellent value for money.

The location was a little out from the centre of Zurich, perhaps a 10 or 15 minute uphill walk. There is a tram on the road outside the hotel. The air-conditioning was not functioning in our room. There seemed to be a spare fan in the corridor so I borrowed that each night.

The hotel had the most stunning views from the two balconies in the superior queen room we were upgraded to. I had requested that they arrange a cake and wine for my husbands bday, not only did they do so, they also upgraded us to one of the best rooms possible at this price point. Our stay was comfortable, amenities were well catered for and the little touches (a cute heart balloon, a congrats marquee for hubbys bday and also a standard yoga mat) went down super well with us. Good location close to airport, train station and city centre but quiet enough that we got a good sleep on every night.

I make a point of staying here when in Zurich because of the location and the convenience. I find the staff helpful in finding a room that is ready to occupy. Breakfast is very good but you now have to request the ham as it is not on the buffet counter which I find disappointing. It's a nice touch to have a coffee machine at the reception desk and sometimes croissants. Very much appreciated.

It would be better if the reception desk is manned a bit more often as there are numerous people coming and going but quite often no one on the desk. I disagree with all these check in online procedures. A hotel needs to be properly staffed. Especially when paying exhorbitant Swiss rates.

Our room was at the back with a pleasant view. It was a treat to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. While it was a long walk into the centre, the trams are frequent and the tram stop is close by.

We did not like the impersonal self check-in. It was confusing for us seniors, and stressful after our flight and coping with public transport in a foreign country etc. While we paid a premium price, it is Switzerland after all, we expected more variety at the breakfast buffet, and there was no English Breakfast tea. It is fine for a short stay though.

The best hotel among the other hotels we stay in this 3 weeks europe trip. Room was super clean, two thumbs up for the cleaning staff, thanks Tilana ! They have many facilities, includes slippers. They even have an umbrella to borrow. Breakfast was great, a lot of fresh food, fruit, vegetables. Very good location, about 3-4 tram station from Zurich HB. And walking distance also to Central or old town. Definitely will choose Sorell again in the future. Thank you Sorell !

One little thing i think they could be better if have staff when we are check in in the afternoon.

Hotel very clean, the coffee pod machine in the rooms was a nice touch. Access via coded door in the evenings was convenient, and whilst we weren't made aware of this feature on arrival it was easy enough to get in via speakerphone when we returned from our evening out

I had booked a cooked breakfast for our stay, but there didn't seem to be any means of indicating this on arrival to breakfast. Staff a little aloof, breakfast supplies were slower to refill so a little wait for some items. I didn't get a cooked breakfast in the end though must say the cold selection was pretty delightful nonetheless!

Even though this property is within walking distance to the station it is uphill so is a bit challenging with suitcases. The tram stops right outside though. We had a comfortable stay and the room and bathroom are spacious and very clean. We would have preferred aircon in the hot conditions and as the road is noisy you can’t leave windows open at night. They provide a few extra touches such as lemon water and a coffee machine in the foyer which is nice. The breakfast is simple but adequate.

Location is great , really close to the centre. Good balance between price and quality. Breakfast for 3 star hotel was good as well. Parking area is available if you did the reservation in Advance. Digital check in process was easy.

We stayed one week in the hotel and in some days during breakfast , special juices were offered , but at the end of our trip , it wasn’t offered anymore. But it is just a minor thing and doesn’t influence our overall positive experience :)
