What a wonderful place to spend a few days in Zanzibar! Arriving at the airport at 0830, the car that the hotel had booked was waiting for me. At the hotel, I was warmly welcomed and offered a drink which I took on the terrace that looks directly over to the Indian Ocean - palm trees gently swaying, the banana plantation below. Although I'd arrived ridiculously early, by 1030 my room was ready for me which was very welcome after a long flight. I made use of the access to the beach which is reached down steps through the banana trees, and was greeted warmly by the occasional local person walking to and fro. Extremely peaceful, and very pretty. Food in the hotel was reasonably priced and very tasty - I had lunch, dinner and breakfast at different points during my brief stay. Comfortable bed, ample hot water, mosquito prevention measures every evening.

Would have welcomed a comfy chair in the room, but that's all I can think of!

Staff were exceptionally friendly especially Sophie. Room was spacious, very clean.

No wardrobes in the room. An extra sidebed stool would do. Staff need to be respected. The Manager shouting at staff(I think its Sophie) in presence of a Guest was very unprofessional, atleast I did not find that amusing and it spoiled my otherwise excellent stay at The Manor House.

The Hotel is located on a hill with a great view surrounded by greenery. It is a small green oasis with a beautiful terrace where you can relax very well. My room had a large comfortable bed and everything I needed. The breakfast could be put together from a manu card and it was very tasty. The fresh juices are incredibly delicious. I can also highly recommend the dinner menu. But the best thing is the friendliness of the staff! A big thank you from the bottom of my heart 💖 goes especially to Diana, Richard and Sada! Thank you very much. Asante sana!! 🫶

Breakfast was nice. I actually ordered more than we got but because we were late we couldn’t add to it. The house is excellent with plenty of room outside both in the corridors as well as the garden. Going to the see is a little disappointed. Albeit shining bright blue from a distance, when coming for through a production garden and walking to the beach you find it is murky and muddy most of the time. Maybe 10-15 minutes further but than you almost in Stone Town. The bed is Royal and fantastic and the ceiling almost twice as high as the average room. A artistically crafted swan towel together with a heart decorating the surface. Staff is friendly and cooperative. We could even leave keys from a previous place we visited there and they’d take care of them until picked up and maintain conversation with the owners meanwhile. Excellent. At arrival they immediately came to help carry the luggage. Recommended place.

Bathroom was small and some facilities outdated

Serene country house on a tropical Island that could easily make an appearance in an Agatha Christie book. Clean, calm, picturesque, and excellent service. I could have stayed longer. Fantastic breakfast and special dietary needs met upon request. The Manor's own brewed iced-tea was lovely. Easy access at the back of the property to the mangrove tree lined beach (not pristine white sands), and local fishing community. Great location for a stop over to or from the airport (5 mins drive) especially if your flight checks in late or if you have an early morning flight to catch. Check in here for a night or few nights then head out to other cleaner pristine beaches for a longer stay eg Nungwi, Paje, Jambiani, etc. For those not keen to stay in Stone Town itself, the Manor is a great location for Stone Town tours (5mins drive) and also for the spice farms and other excursions on the western side of the island.

I didn't mind that the beach wasn't pristine white sands. It is a mangrove, stone and pebbles beach and not super clean but okay to take in the ocean and sunsets. I am more of a beach comber and like different aspects of beaches/ water fronts including the mangrove trees, rocks and pebbles. If you like swimming in the ocean, then maybe stay here a night or two then move on elsewhere. No swimming pool from what I saw but I did not miss it as there were other things to do - excursions.

The Manor House is a beautiful property near to the airport and not far from Stone Town. You can reach the city centre in about 10-15 minutes using a private Taxi, bajai, boda boda or dala dala. The neighbourhood has some nice restaurants and local bars and you will meet a lot of friendly people there. The beach and a mangrove forest ist just a one minute walk away. The staff is very helpful, friendly and professional. Shout out to Hawa, Catherine, Richard, Ali, Mwana, Cleopatra, Jessca and everybody else I forgot.

Really nothing.

Good breakfast, amazing fresh juices and fruits, who works there is really kind and everybody greet you always with a smile 😃 Ali ⭐️ They have a program to promote local youth coming from a difficult background to learn and work in hospitality. It s 5 km from Stone town a city that I really learned to love and appreciate little by little. I m grateful that I had time to spend there in the days a was at the hotel

It could be helpful to add some fridge in the rooms. It s hot in the rooms at night and it s a bit far from stone town, around five km and it s overprice to go there by taxi or tuk tuk

Historic building, great breakfast, nice walk down to the beach through the banana plantation steps. Reliable and fast Wi-Fi internet.

It's an old building. There are some things showing wear and tear. The shower has no curtain. It is normal. But it's a small shower, so water gets on the floor in the bathroom. Would be nice to have a floor mat in the bathroom. Staff is very accommodating though. If you come early enough, I'm sure they will give you extra towels. You can use a towel as a floor mat. Also, if it's a romantic stay, you may want to ask for extra bed sheets. Staff speaks good English. I came late at night, so the hotel staff already went home, except for one Masai man, who was the host and security guard. It was very cool to be greeted in front of the big gate by a Masai guy, like in their photos.

This is a boutique hotel with immense character, it has lovely sea views and genuine old world charm with wood paneled roofing, sprawling verandahs and terraces! It is old world luxury! The food served was simple and delicious. The location is very close to the airport and a short drive from Stone town.

Generator malfunctioned during a stay a week earlier when the city faced power failures and that caused a lot of discomfort I am glad that we could come back and savor the place during our second stay.

The staff were wonderful and the food was exceptionally delicious. The house is also beautiful. We definitely recommend staying there especially if you are only in town for a few nights - we stayed 2 nights.

The shower in our room didn't have a shower curtain so the room gets pretty wet when you shower. They should also consider more seating in the rooms as we only had one chair by the desk and no other seats.
