Had the most lovely stay at the Gages Mill and will 100% be coming back next time I'm in Devon. Kate was the best host ever––so accommodating, sweet, funny and gave great recs! The room was so clean and at night it was super quiet. Breakfast was great and it was so nice having the beautiful yard to walk around in afterwards. The location is ideal––you feel like you're in the countryside but you're incredibly close to Ashburton and the moor! I felt so cozy, safe, and at ease during my stay. Thank you SO much Kate!! <3 xoxo

The property and owners were very nice and welcoming, the location was amazing and we will definitely consider returning for a longer stay.
Breakfast could have been more generous for those who were not selecting all the options for an English Fried Breakfast. Bringing a plate with one sausage and one slice of bacon (for someone who didn't want mushroom/beans/egg/tomato/hash brown), or a plate with one half of a bagel and egg (rather than both parts of the bagel) seemed a little odd and slightly disappointing.

The owners were a lovely couple. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with a lovely sitting area. The breakfast was really good. There is an honesty bar with very reasonable prices. The Mill was only a short walk from Dartmoor Lodge, which does food for an evening meal. There is plenty of parking.
There is a no pet policy, which didn't bother us at this time as we are between dogs but it is the only thing that would prevent us from booking again in the future.

Such a lovely little hidden gem of a place. We were in the area visiting friends and stayed 2 nights in a cosy family room as a family of 3. The room overlooked the beautiful gardens, beds were all comfy, plenty of tea & coffee etc provided in the room. Kate & Nathan were more than welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. We ate at the Dartmoor Lodge restaurant for dinner 400m walk just up the road which we would recommend. Great location near to lots of different beaches. We will definitely be booking again next time we are in the area.

Kate and Nathan were friendly, welcoming hosts. Breakfast was extremely good, well cooked and served very promptly - couldn't fault it. I also liked thoughtful touches such as wrapping the toast with a napkin to keep it warm. Although I didn't have much time to explore them, the gardens looked very pleasant.
Although there was a reasonable selection of teabags/instant coffee in the room, the addition of hot chocolate, and a bottle of (drinking) water would have taken it to the next level.

I liked everything .. the owners were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. My room and bathroom were lovely and the views from the windows were wonderful. The breakfast was just what I wanted. The location was perfectly placed for access to towns, sea and moors.
There was nothing that I didn’t like. It was perfect.

A very warm welcome by Kate , followed by personal attentive care by both Kate and Nathan. The breakfasts were just what I wanted and the location good for visiting local sites and events. All in all a excellent experience. Thank you.
This is a difficult question to answer as I don't have any suggestions save for a higher shower pressure!

Lovely family business with equally lovely staff. Our room was very clean and well appointed but on the small side. We found the location good for our plans for walks and relaxing and Kate very helpful in providing information. And we loved Max welcoming us to Gages Mill. The breakfast was great. Ashburton is a little village but we found most things needed easily.
A car is definitely needed to get around but most guests would be travelling with a car.

Great location. Nice room, very friendly welcoming owners. Breakfast was lovely. Would recommend.
Walls are a little thin upstairs. We weren’t disturbed by anyone else but I felt I needed to remind our kids not to make a noise. Luckily they were given the run of the garden to let off steam so it worked out fine.

Nathan and Kate were so kind and helpful with tips for exploring Dartmoor and surrounding areas. The breakfast was superb and we really appreciated the personal touches. We will stay again when in England because the location was central to all we wanted to do.
We loved the entire stay!! Nathan and Kate were lovely hosts.
