The location was superb tucked away from the main road and in amongst the trees. The gardens were also beautiful and very tranquil. The accommodation buildings were located either side of a pretty courtyard and the surrounding buildings looked lovely, all constructed from the same materials. Breakfast was very good with a great choice. I particularly liked the freshly made rhubarb compote.
The room was a little “tired” and would benefit from a refresh but the view from the room was great. The menu was quite limited for our group. I think it would maybe benefit from a few “pub classics”. We found it quite expensive and didn’t stay to eat after the first night as we struggled to find something for everyone on the menu. The food we did have was beautifully cooked.

I know Dartington Hall well so not too many surprises. It was great to have the Barn Theatre with films I liked The Green Cafe. I was lucky to be there when WonderGlow was on Gardens are lovely to walk around Easy parking
Breakfast in the White Hart - first day I felt a bit of an idiot waiting for a member of staff to appear to tell me what the procedure was. I would have liked a few light items on the evening menu as I can’t eat a lot in the evenings My bedroom was nice but needs up dating. New carpet, decorating, and a few bits of plastering In the condition it is I would have begrudged paying that price as I was upgraded from a single room which had a leak

It felt like walking into Hogwarts. The grounds and building are beautiful. The onsite pub was friendly, helpful and unique by being situated in the Great Hall.
I wasn't a fan of the external bathroom option. Although a dressing gown was provided, you do feel vulnerable and inconvenienced by the situation. Especially being so open to anyone walking by. My biggest fault was the telephone service. The information on the lead up to my visit was informative and they ask you to call if you're checking in after 8pm to make arrangements. I called and left a message, as did my partner on my behalf, and I never received a call back to make these arrangements. This left me slightly concerned as to what would happen on my arrival.

A good breakfast was included but it was the history of the Hall that fascinated both of us. We had no idea until we arrived that we were staying at such a quaint place. Would definitely stay again. We booked the Hall to visit the area and there was so much to see and do we only left the place for a few hours on the 4th day.
We had 4 large suitcases and 2 backpacks and we were on the 2nd floor which had a lot of stairs to get there. We had to empty half a suitcase and take that up and return downstairs to refill it to take it up. We had to do that for the 2 largest cases. Not ideal but as it is a listed building I guess we should have checked first. Luggage could not be left in our car as it was a public car park.

Amazing location and grounds. Such a treat to have access to the incredible gardens at all times. This is a very special place! We don't have a car and so walked everywhere - it's about a 35 mins walk to Totnes via a scenic river path and then about 15-20 mins walk down to Dartington. There are some beautiful walks in the area, we especially enjoyed the walk to Ashprington and stopped off at the Waterman's Arms by the river to re-fuel. Would recommend hiring e-bikes for getting around. They were great fun. Was great to have live music in the gardens the Thursday evening, too. All in all, a wonderful stay at a very tranquil and beautiful place.
Nothing!

The location and the grounds were outstanding with the cinema and the gardens etc.., the staff were wonderful , the room was good also and the décor in keeping with the building and it was very quiet at night.
The breakfast and the method of self service delivery- led to chaotic scenes and waiting around one morning- same breakfast every morning: scrambled eggs, toms, mushrooms and choice of bacon and or sausage. I had asked for veggie breakfast beforehand but there were no veggie sausages on any of the three mornings we stayed. I could see nothing given over to vegan's also and this surprised me.

The room was clean and tidy. The view from our window was fantastic, looking out across the 'courtyard' as we would call it.
The breakfast was ok. It wasn't bad, but I feel it could have been better. Despite the 'hot plates' being hot to touch, the food side was lukewarm. Also, the staff seemed very quick to clear tables, this is fine except my partner and I had got up to get hot food after our cereal and pastry and dissipate there being 2 full glasses of juice and a full cup of coffee, the table had been completely cleared when we got back about 2 minutes later.

The location is fabulous. The rooms overlook the courtyard and it is really peaceful. The grounds are lovely, and there is often something happening in the summer. The little cinema is great. Really liked that there weren't any tvs in the rooms. There is a lounge with one on the ground floor should you feel the urge. We didn't. The White Hart with splendid ales and food is just across the courtyard too. Facilities were good, even though our room didn't have ensuite, but a private wc and shower across the hall. Shower worked well. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A very relaxed vibe to the place. And the grounds are fabulous for walks. Beautiful gardens as well. Lots of little nooks for relaxing in. The music events in the summer lend it a real festival vibe. Definitely want to stay here again.
We were on the 2nd floor which was a bit warm. However the room came with a fan which helped. Housekeeping was a bit erratic, but it didn't matter because the staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Could do with some hanging hooks in the shower room and perhaps a shelf in the shower. There are a lot of stairs which was ok for us, but might not be for everyone, worth checking before you go.

Dartington Hall was an amazing place. Incredibly beautiful, and having access to the wonderful gardens was the icing on the cake ! The staff were helpful and courteous. In particular,Katie, one of the receptionists went out of her way to help me during my stay, which meant an awful lot to me at a particularly difficult time. She's awesome ,and deserves a pay rise ! For a young aged (on the whole) staff,I found them all to be very pleasant, helpful and clearly enjoying their work. My stay was an incredibly positive experience, and I look forward to returning.
Have to say that the coffee at breakfast was not very palatable, but the bagel place ,just a few yards away more than made up for this ! A small price to pay,I'd say.

The setting and the hall was lovely, the rooms are rather shabby for such a lovely place and could do with updating. The breakfast on the first day was great, but gradually as the bank holiday went on, the food started to run out or was not replaced
The bed had ridges in it and was not terribly comfortable, the room was lovely but furniture tired, old and not of good quality. The room however was lovely and a nice view of the courtyard The breakfast was good but as I said above things started running out before the end of the stay.
