My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable three nights stay. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, late as it happened because our train had been cancelled, until we departed. We were there for a wedding , which was brilliant, and the experience of our whole stay was Five Star. Very pleasant and courteous staff who were friendly without being intrusive. Meals were excellent - I loved the Homity Pie - well presented and enjoyable. Plenty of choice for breakfast. It certainly is a quant and qwerky hotel as one would expect from its age and that's what gives it its unique charm. If you are looking for a quiet base to discover South Devon this is the place to stay. Comfortable, clean, welcoming and away from the tourist areas. We would recommend without hesitation.

Nothing to dislike

the room was a little small and when we initially arrived and the first night the whole bathroom and bedroom really smelt of sewage - so much so that i couldnt sleep initially on the first night until i had got up and sprayed some perfume around the bedroom breakfast was lovely the staff were really helpful and friendly we had dinner on the first night which again was lovely and very reasonable over all our stay was lgood just the sewage smell that was an issue on the first night

the smell of sewage on the first night the shower had very little power and i would have liked a hand shower as well as the overhead shower had little force to wash off the suds

Check in at the bar was very quick. The room was fine, but with a bath and hand shower rather than a shower which we would prefer. There were some random long black hairs in the bathtub and the slow-close toilet seat would not stay in the upright position. There was an unlocked door to an adjoining twin bed room, which happily wasn't occupied. Dinner was very good, with good service from the young staff. Breakfast runs from 7.30 - 9.00 a.m., which was too late for my wife who had to be at work in Newton Abbot by 8. She was however able to have granola and fruit so all was not lost. My cooked breakfast later was very good. Ample on site parking too.

Some confusion about getting a breakfast before 7.30, but that sorted itself out. Minor cleanliness issue with the bath but otherwise the room was spotless. The toilet seat was not functioning properly although perfectly usable. We felt the door to the adjoining room should have been lockable from our side.

The entire staff are amazing, so friendly and approachable, every one I conversed with was fab. The setting is lovely, so quiet and tranquil. The evening meal was very tasty and came piping hot.

I am a fussy eater, I asked for just Vegetarian sausages, hash browns and beans as I didn't like a lot of the vegetarian breakfast items (same in most hotels), I was a little disappointed to get a sausage and a couple of hash browns, I expect maybe two sausages etc. as I paid the same as a full English in principal. Its a minor niggle and will not stop me returning.

Gorgeous interiors. Friendly staff. Extremely comfy bed and pillows. Great shower. Really nice evening meal. Good cooked part of breakfast. Excellent value for money.

Nothing too major but the cereal/ juice/ pastry bit of breakfast was a little disappointing. There was homemade granola but no natural yoghurt or even a small amount of fresh berries to go with it. Breakfast just needed a tiny bit of upgrading to match the rest of our experience at Bickley Mill.

Bickley Mill is really lovely. Its very popular for weddings which isn't surprising. We stayed here for 2 nights when we went to Newton Abbott racecourse. It was very convenient and has a massive carpark so there's no problem parking. We were e mailed in advance to let us know there was a function on whilst we were there (a wedding) but it wasn't an issue. One terrace was closed for the wedding party but there's another terrace around the other side of the hotel so we just used that. The staff were excellent, extremely helpful, professional and friendly. Our room was Hay Tor which has a little sitting out area for your early morning coffee. The food and drink were both of a high quality and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Impressive and lovely setting; our room was spacious and well-appointed, with a lovely view, and was exceptionally clean; our bed was huge and fantastically comfortable, and the duvet was snug, whilst light in weight; breakfast was very good quality, varied and plentiful. But best of all were the staff members: so friendly and welcoming, whilst being ultra professional and efficient in all they did. They were all outstanding.

I couldn’t find fault, even if I tried.

WOW - this is simply a stunning Pub/Hotel. The Mill is beautiful, it has so much exposed stone and timbers, tasteful decorated throughout, its like a magical environment, so cozy, so relaxing, simply brilliant. The Rooms are very modern and very well appointed. The staff are so friendly and very attentive. The food is exceptional and of great value. This is a must and will become my new hotel for all business in Newton Abbot/Exeter area - its a great place for a stop, for couples weekend and weddings - WOW

nothing!

Very good breakfast. Excellent bedroom with wet room en suite - all very fresh and worked well. Friendly efficient staff - room serviced quickly whilst we had breakfast! Safe parking at the back. Every meal during a four night stay could not be faulted.

Some bedroom doors shut very noisily. Being quite isolated, the access roads were narrow and some lacked good passing places. It proved a bit expensive but maybe explained by the time of year (summer school holiday season!).

Staff were really warm and friendly, the building is absolutely beautiful, the family room was lovely and cozy, and the beds were really comfy. The Owl Loft is really nicely laid out, the dividing door between the two suites allowed a little bit of privacy and independence for the kids, whilst still being safely reassuring for parents.

The shower provided was temperamental in terms of pressure and temperature, and my wife said that the room would benefit from a full length mirror.
