It is a unique and interesting hotel with great history and features. It is in a central location for the city. The sound insulation from outside noise eg traffic was excellent. All the staff we encountered were very friendly as well as professional, and clearly focused on the needs of guests. The room was well equipped and spacious. The restaurant for breakfast was lovely- bright and with views over the city and river. Breakfast was comprehensive and food was hot.
The room decor was a bit tired, could do with some minor refurbishment, eg handle missing from bedside drawer, towel rail missing from bathroom wall, furniture chipped in places.

Big spacious room, comfortable beds, easy check in, friendly staff. Lovely hotel all in all.
Card key wouldnāt work and this is the same issue I have everytime I visit this hotel, itās really annoying having to go back up and down to reception numerous times. They also wonāt give a second key card even though there was two couples staying at this room, this was inconvenient as the second couple wanted to leave the event we went to earlier and we didnāt want to wake them up when we got back. But we had to leave the event earlier as we couldnāt get a second key! I wouldnāt stay here again for this silly reason!

Hotel was perfect, managed to get an upgrade and it was a huge amazing room. It was a surprise for my partners birthday and he was more than happy with it. Everything was clean, good location, everything worked, smart tv, comfy beds, lovely view out the window, we were offered a place to keep our luggage too. Read some bad reviews about this hotel before we came so I was slightly worried but we genuinely couldnāt asked for anything more. The staff went above and beyond for us I donāt say a single bad word about them, so lovely, welcoming and funny. If Neilās manager is reading this review make sure to give that man a pay rise, heās absolutely spot on and had so much time for us we couldnāt fault him. All the staff we saw had chats with us and were lovely.

The room was glorious! Two double beds, an enormous bath with wonderfully hot shower overhead. Lighting superb - a central chandelier for those with grandiose tastes, and good strong lighting (that could be adjusted to lower, low, low low) by the bedside (each side of each). Individual body wash and shampoo - please add conditioner. Location terrific - short walk into the Central City - 5 minutes, 10 minutes to Conference Centre dockside, impossible to get lost - and a Tesco with cash machine not far away ...
Television screen needs to be on a swivel so that it can be positioned for easy viewing from the bed/s. It is flat against the wall and cannot be angled - one must lie on the far side of the bed to view effectively. Please add conditioner (see above) though it is wonderful to retain the small bottles of shampoo and body wash - in times when so many hotels have gone over to large containers stuck at heights in shower (where it is difficult for people who are not above 5'5" to access easily) this is a huge plus.

The presidential suite was lovely and spacious.. Loved the decor, itās an old building full of charm. We stayed the following night at a nearby more popular hotel and were really disappointed we hadnāt chosen two nights at James Street. The staff were lovely, and attentive. We had fully stocked coffee station, a large table and chairs, beds were comfy. We especially loved staying up late, gossiping in the extra extra large bath tub with an amazing view. It was amazing, will definitely stay again.
Carpets needed a little refreshening. Change the color of the seating area in the turretā¦ Made me think it was a swingers club, maybe cushions instead of the big ice bucket.

The historical aspect of the building was fascinating, our room was full of faded grandeur that I loved. The spa bath was fabulous. The roof terrace was lovely. It's in a good location, easy to find, and although not specific to the hotel there is parking nearby at reasonable rates. The staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly.
Some of the rooms need updating and a little tlc. The aircon didn't work, although there was also a fan by the bed which helped. Toiletries but no glasses in the bathroom. The carpet gripper at the bathroom door was exposed due to fraying, had to put a towel on it to avoid stepping on the sharp points. The padded wall looked great but was very dusty!

Wow. What an amazing hotel. From check-in to check-out, i cannot fault this hotel or any part of the stay. Upon reading some other reviews i got the impression that the hotel would be "hit or miss". Fortunately, i can safely say that it was absolutely amazing. The staff at check-in were friendly and polite, the hotel itself was amazing throughout, and the room exceeded every expectation. The room was was absolutely massive, having the ability to sleep 6 (2 double beds. and 2 very large sofa beds). Combine the huge room with a big bathroom, and full kitchen and even a Jacuzzi....and there was just nothing to fault. The room was well appointed with everything you needed, with plenty of Towels, Lots of Loo Rolls and ample amenities for up to 6 people. The rooms were very quiet, with little to no noise coming from inside or outside. The bed was very comfy, the shower was fairly powerful and there was no issues with running water etc.. I really cannot find anything at all to fault. It really was just amazing accommodation.
There was nothing to dislike. It had all you needed for the expectations of a normal stay.

A very good location, situated within the city centre limits that is a commutable distance from Lime Street overlooking Albert Dock and Pierhead. Will definitely be making a return soon. Id be honest I'm saying it was the best out of the 3 I stayed in and my experience definitely exceeds the value of which I paid Very grateful for having two double beds. One was for my body, the other one upon the platform was for my mind. Sound... šš¾š Finally, I couldn't help but smile when I walked up to look out of the window to see a gigantic ship in the dock opposite. Reminded me of a famous ship that once parked there..
Being a warm spring by the waterside, it was quite hot and tried to work the air conditioner but it was probably the most complex interface with no obvious instruction manual I've come across in hospitality. Having a bit of common sense, it was either defective or my sense wasn't so common that day so was unable to stay cool. Despite the temperature cooling later in the evening, it would have been nice to be able to operate it for the

The location was absolutely brilliant. Perfect for the docks, Matthew street and Liverpool one shopping. All within 5 mins walk. The reception staff were great, especially one in particular who unfortunately we didnāt get his name. But he was so friendly, funny and went out of his way for us. Our room was very spacious with a small kitchen which was well equipped.
The hotel building is lovely but the interior is most definitely ready for a revamp and a really good clean. And the beds need much better pillows. They were so flat and thin and only one each on the bed. The jacuzzi bath also didnāt work but that wasnāt too much of a problem for us but could be for other guests.

The location was good, near nice restaurants and the dock as well as a short ride from a nearby spa. Breakfast was good but my partner enjoyed how it used to be with more options and fresh fruit. It would have been nice to have room service. And spa access on site would have been great. More towels in the bathroom would have been nice as the jacuzzi tub did overflow just a little.
Check in was a little late, an earlier check in would have been nicer even if it came at a cost. The bed was quite firm and the bottom sheet kept coming off the bed. There was a wasp in the room but even the staff was surprised by that.
