We stayed in two different rooms, a delux for 2 nights and a classic for an impromptu 3 evening. Both were comfortable with good bathrooms. Dinner was fantastic and breakfast was amazing. Lovely country house, beautiful staircase and sitting rooms. We would stay again but will be more prepared.

Prices for the evening dinner were unknown at the time of booking. It wouldn't have stopped us having dinner but when you find out dinner is more expensive than the room your staying in, well that's a surprise. I sent a list of allergies through prior to arrival and the first day it was dealt with brilliantly but the second days breakfast it was like they had forgotten and I felt very awkward when returning my breakfast for the lady to announce very loudly "she's allergic to the kitchen"

This hotel was probably up there with one of the best we have ever stayed in . Our room had a balcony with amazing views out over the gardens - I’d quite happily sit for hours ! The hotel itself was full of character and the staff were all lovely, couldn’t do enough for you and we felt they were genuinely happy that we were staying there (unlike some hotel staff) We didn’t have an evening meal but a light lunch and breakfast in the morning which again absolutely faultless! Whoever’s running this hotel is doing an outstanding job.

Cannot speak highly enough of our stay at this beautiful hotel. The hotel itself is stunning, beautifully appointed, fabulous gardens and such a wonderful, scenic location. The room was beautifully appointed and decorated, so comfortable and so many little extra touches and details. I think it had been recently refurbished and it certainly had been done well. It was lovely. All the public rooms were lovely too, very comfortable and relaxing. The food was absolutely outstanding. I honestly think that the dinner we had in the restaurant was the best meal I’ve ever eaten. The flavours in every course, from the canapés to the petit fours, all worked so well together. It really was delicious. Fantastic breakfast too. And finally the staff were brilliant! Everyone that we interacted with was incredibly friendly and so helpful. They just made us feel so welcome and relaxed. Every single one of them made us feel like they were old friends, welcoming us to stay in their beautiful home. Clearly not the cheapest hotel but worth every penny in my opinion. Thank you all, we loved it.

Nothing at all, can't fault it.

This hotel is beautiful and was a great treat for us to stay in. The staff were welcoming and catered for all our requirements, the room was spacious and well laid out and we had a fantastic seating area in the window where we could look out and the balcony would have been used if it was a little warmer. The grounds and views are stunning and I can only imagine them looking better when everything is in full bloom a must stay if you can and it's in budget

A little more choice on the evening menu if staying more than one night but we were out of season so that could have had something to do with it

The location is fantastic the gardens lovely. The hotel is very dog friendly and provides really good accommodation for dogs. The rooms are comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. Staff are excellent, relaxed and friendly.

The food was not as good as I expected given the "fine dining" description. Breakfast on the first day (Full Welsh) was rather overcooked. The second day I had scrambled eggs and salmon and those were excellent. Same goes for the evening meal; first day not so special (although the starter was good), second day much better.

Really lovely hotel - the room was so nice, and the grounds were lovely for a dog walk. It was fab to be able to bring our dog and feel like she was actually welcome. Every single one of the staff was amazing, and went above and beyond. An excellent hotel. And the food was delicious! All the small details were thought of and couldn’t rate it higher.

the staff were very friendly. our room was at the front and had lovely views over the garden, however it was not that big but adequate for our 2 night stay. we did try to upgrade but they were full. The food in the restaurant was delicious and again the staff friendly and attentive.

in the late evening when the fire went out , they could not relight it and we would have loved to have stayed in the lounge but it wasn’t warm enough. Not the hotels fault, but perhaps for the future people could be a little more sympathetic at breakfast ….. a child was watching an iPad of peppa pig and it was annoying to hear it whilst enjoying my food and having a conversation with my husband, with that in the background. surely parents could entertain their little ones and encourage them to eat rather than watch-or have ear phones so that other guests aren’t disturbed.

We had a really enjoyable 3 night stay. Breakfast was lovely and our two dinners in the restaurant were superb. The rooms were beautiful and the staff very pleasant and helpful. This is a beautiful location with lots of lovely walks.

There was absolutely nothing to not like about Penmaenuchaf and I would definitely recommend a stay here.

The staff were excellent, very accommodating and efficient. The food was well presented and cooked excellently. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The views and the location were superb.

Being very picky the driveway to the property could do with more passing places as many blind corners and delivery lorries using the same narrow driveway. The double room we had looked onto a brick wall with no other view, however this was not really an issue as we spent very little time in the room.

Location. Staff efficiency and friendliness. Food quality. Room was superb with a balcony and wonderful views.

The cost is very high and, whilst known about in advance and reflects excellence, is now prohibitive. We have visited previously but are sadly unlikely to do so again.
