This is a beautifully managed hotel with a lovely cared for garden, excellent food, very comfortable bedroom, attractive bar, and very dog friendly (including an ambitious dog menu for breakfast if you dare!). There is a lovely country walk direct from the hotel and easy to follow on the directions given and, if you have time, many near by local walks described in the area. This was a lovely hotel, quite close to the M74 and ideal for our stop over driving from the western highlands to southern England and worth staying here more than one night..

I choose this hotel for being dog friendly and for an overnight stopover on the way north to the Scottish highlands. Arriving in the yard behind the house, was a sink and hose designated for washing muddy paws, even offering to supply hot water and shampoo on request. The characterful house is set in a well maintained colourful garden, surrounded by fields and woodland. Everything about our stay was excellent - helpful, friendly staff, convivial bar, delicious food and fellow guests travelling with dogs( who appeared to far outweigh the other guests) and comfortable room (dog bowl filled with treats provided) The best - doggy breakfast menu - sausage, eggs etc - sums up our stay at this wonderful hotel. Ps - the owners were just as well cared for.

Lovely setting. The gardens were fabulous. The hotel was beautifully decorated.Staff were great especially Dora who served us breakfast which was exceptional. Quiet & very peaceful. Lovely biscuits & plenty of coffee & tea options in the room. There is a hairdryer & toiletries provided.

Nothing apart from a fridge would have been useful in the room.

This was the perfect stop on the way to Glasgow. The Hotel was really lovely and the grounds were fantastic. A lot to see and do (if you don't go in winter like we did!). Great massage on site. The food was really good and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. The rooms were perfect and just like the pictures on booking.com. Would stay here again. Easy parking.

the staff were friendly and extremely helpful, they went out their way to accommodate and make your stay great! the hotel was exceptionally clean and welcoming. loved that is was doggy friendly, the dogs were spoiled rotten. I loved all the little touches to the homemade biscuits in the jar next to tea/coffee and the welcome treats for our dog. the hot tub and sauna was fantastic so lovely in the relaxing garden.

I can’t think of anything we didn’t like about the property. only one thing I would say is the treatment room was very cold but I was the first client that morning. that’s the only reason I gave a 9 rather than a 10. everything was outstanding and I would definitely stay again.

Me and my partner travelled for our anniversary. We had the best experience, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The hotel was clean, smelled nice and was warm. The food was amazing, well prepared snd tasted beautiful. We also booked the hot tub and sauna which were amazing. We had a great time and can’t wait till we come back.

Nothing- we loved every minute of our stay

We have lived in this hotel before. We like it because it has nostalgic associations with our families and childhood. It was entirely suitable for our purposes. The food was very good and the service friendly.

We saw three members of staff during out entire visit. They were hard working and friendly so they had a lot to cope with. The window latches on the bedroom windows were stiff and neded servicing.

We both really liked the old fashioned building. It felt very picturesque and the grounds surrounding the building were lovely to walk around. We really want to try come back in the summer time to see all the trees and plants blossom.

It’s only a small thing and more likely to be us but the walk on the map the hotel provided, it didn’t seem overly clear. It suggested we could walk over a field but we couldn’t see any obvious sign and felt a little uncomfortable potentially walking through someone’s field so ended up turning back…

Super friendly staff, very clean and well maintained for an older property. Amazing breakfast: extensive choice, home made bread and jam, fresh butter and great views over the garden. Our 2 dogs got treated, petted and got to meet other resident dogs - they loved it!

The Superior room was still quite small for the price (out of season) in this area.
