Big roomy Victorian house with loads of character. Our en-suite bedroom was for three of us, my wife and I and my 13 year old Granddaughter, we had a large double bed and a nice single bed. There was a large guest lounge on the first floor so it was great to be able to play cards etc there in the evenings. The breakfasts were made to order, you filled out a form the evening before with your choices. Very extensive menu, the eggs (three ways) were always amazing and the rest of the food was very obviously high quality. My granddaughter ordered the same breakfast all three days. We didn’t really need lunch, maybe just a coffee and cake. Great views from front and back of the house, free private parking, free WiFi and l usb charge ring bedside lamps.

Our party were all very pleased with the location, and the service we received from start to finish.

Although Heartfell delivered an excellent service. The only negative point was the feeling of being rushed at breakfast. We can appreciate staff have a schedule. I personally felt rushed when my hot breakfast was brought out before l had finished my cereal. We were well aware staff would not wish to go over time and would have respected this. I only mention this as something to consider to improve service it is in no way a complaint just an observation in support of delivering an outstanding service to future customers.

A lovely, well presented hotel, located in a pretty road just 5 minutes from the centre of Moffat. Our room was spacious, clean and light, and the bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and available to answer any questions we had. We would stay here again.

Useful thing to know... many of the restaurants in Moffat stop serving at around 8.00pm, also it's worth booking a table in advance if you can.

Beautiful Victorian house in quiet situation within short walk from village centre, where there were several interesting-looking pubs. We were there to visit ancestors in the historic cemetery. Friendly welcome from the owner. Very comfortable bed and spacious room. Ensuite was small but functional with a small shower cubicle. We were warned that the hot water takes a long time to come through, but was adequate when it did arrive. Breakfast was most excellent, with many choices, selected the evening before. Free wifi worked well, and charging ports in the bedside lamps. Free private parking out the front.

Lovely welcome, great room(7). Asked to pre-order breakfast on arrival which suited us. Room very clean and perfectly presented (my wife was particularly impressed by the towels). Bed was very comfy and the room was very quiet. The breakfast was the perfect example of a 'full Scottish'. Easy to park outside the hotel and a short walk into town.

Nothing. All was as expected for a short stay on the way to Edinburgh. The hosts were lovely, everything we needed was in place and the staff (owners?) were very obliging.

Was a good size room, but the shower was small, they've added the toilet/shower room into the bedroom, can understand there's only so much you can do with an old building, but gives you a private toilet, which is a plus, was on the ground floor, which suited us as my husband uses a wheelchair. Great location, we were at a wedding in the area

My daughter was married at Auchen Castle. We spent the night before the wedding at Hartfell Guest House and LOVED it! I had Room #7 and never wanted to leave! My room had a view of an emerald green field, complete with 3 horses! We had breakfast, made to order, and it was spot-on! The building itself is lovely, and the setting picturesque. The fall foliage was stunning! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would absolutely go back!

Minor Issue: I thought I had paid for the room online, but, just as we were leaving for the castle, I was informed that I needed to pay in person. That's probably "my bad", it was just inconvenient, as the taxi was already there and waiting.

Main breakfast was good however the grapefruit was from a tin and the fruit and fiber was from a small supermarket packet left in the table. I expected fresh in both cases

We had a family room but the TVs was about 20” small set on a low nest of coffee tables. Hit water was limited, it just turned off after a certain time at one time leaving me with soap and shampoo to wash off with freezing cold water

Room was comfortable and cosy. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and looked pretty much new. Toiletries were available and the shower was easy to use. Breakfast was booked in advance and was promptly served when we arrived in the breakfast room. It was delicious and tasty, with local produce which was a bonus.

The staff were friendly and accomodating, the room was clean and comfortable and we had a gorgeous view. The breakfast was delicious, just what we needed after being at a wedding the evening before. Checking in time wasn't until 4pm, but when we went to book in (around midday) & to park our car/leave our luggage, we were let into our room early which was very kind.
