Waldorf Edinburgh is for when you want to have that historic, grandiose experience and ambience, with the conveniece of being just within a good stone-throw disance from the Edinburgh Castle. I love that hint of smell of aged wood and old luxury, while at the same time the premises being pefectly up-kept and contemproary, clean and othwerise suited for the modern comfort. The staff was, as expected, very professional, welcoming, kind and helpful. The breakfast was in a lovely and luxurious setting, delicious, and serviced. The coctails served to us by Melony at the bar were a delicious, mind-blowing experience (don't miss it!). The Spa area with the rather big swimming pool, a steamroom and a sauna was also rather big, pleasant, and not busy at all - just as I like it. All in all, we loved it.

Couldn't figure out how to turn the temperature up 1-2 grades, the system there was smarter than me. It was set at 21C, which is comfortable for the most (at least men), but I'm a freezer. Obviously, this wasn't important enough for me to bother the staff.

Ii liked the location and the bathroom was nice, room was comfortable too.

Pool was closed unfortunately and I couldn't work out the heating system so maybe some instructions, it kept me up a bit

The location is perfect for exploring the city whilst not being in the very middle of the most crowded part. It also turned out to be less than 100 meters from the airport bus stop, which saved us a lot of time. Very friendly staff and a beautiful, old building - and a spacious room.

We only had breakfast there one time because, whilst being delicious, it was quite costly, and there are cafés round the corner.

The staff was outstanding, late out check was no problem, breakfast and service was high level, bartenders knows exactly what you want. It was an outstanding service in every way, thanks to everyone from the doormen who are very attentive till the people who were serving the drinks

We had al little problem with the house keeping, but again it was just a small problem, they have solved it immediately, so one word, better talk to people so they can solve it than complaining on the internet afterwords. We can only say that everybody is so helpful and they are great in give you a good feeling everyday

Beautiful rooms with a view of the castle. Definitely worth the upgrade. Breakfast is not to be missed. We were given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and chocolates for my wife’s birthday which was a lovely touch.

There was clearly a billing error when we stayed there which meant the entire balance owed pre authorised again on my card every day as a separate transaction. This wasn’t an issue as we only stayed 2 nights and the sum was small but I can see it being an issue if you were staying for a week and the sum owed was larger.

I loved how welcoming the staff were, they really are a credit to this hotel, and couldn’t do enough for you. I have stayed in a Waldorf before in Rome and had a completely different experience to this, but I would really recommend this hotel to people travelling to Edinburgh. The breakfast is 10/10 and the rooms are very comfortable. I liked the extra touch of the Valentines Day hearts that we got to write and tie to their staircase.

I haven’t actually got any criticism. It was a lovely stay. The only thing I could possibly comment on is that the pool area seems to be open until around 9pm but last admission is closer to 7pm, it’s possible that I misunderstood this.

Staff were very helpful (especially the concierge desk) and attentive. On the first day, breakfast was very quick, on the second day we had someone different serve us, and service was very slow and people who came in a long time after us were being served and leaving before us. The young lad who eventually started to serve us was very attentive compared to the girl. Breakfast took over an hour to complete. Food excellent. Lovely swimming pool.

I think parking was very steep and perhaps it should be discounted more by the hotel. It was a shame that the bin strike was on in Edinburgh, as you looked across the road you could see overflowing rubbish. Not the hotels fault though. Service a bit slow for breakfast.

The hotel is lovely. The location at the base of the castle and Princes Street is great with most of Edinburgh attractions, shops and restaurants within a short walk. The architecture and ambience remind you of an era that really needs to continue. The history of the building is evident and the story is told around the hotel with historical elements such as the station clock in Peacock Alley and the stained glass and the chandeliers on the central staircase with architectural drawings in the corridors . The staff we met were first class and the service we experienced was lovely. The spa faclities are good and again the staff were first class. The Caleys Bar has a good selection of the usual drinks but also has a special cocktail menu showcasing some of the best Hilton cocktails from around the world. Dean Banks at the Pompadour comes highly recommended for a special occasion, the tasting menu is a real treat into fresh Scottish produce with an Asian twist in a great location. If you do this I recommend the wine flight which perfectly matches to the individual courses. All in all, highly recommended and would stay here again for any future visits to Edinburgh.

I really appreciated the Scottish men on the door of the hotel, and the men who were concierges. I felt cared for and safe. They were very organised and watchful, and thoughtful, and watched for guests entering, arriving and leaving the hotel at all times.

A woman on the reception desk, who when I asked the name of the porter , couldn't tell me as she quote "couldn't tell the Scottish men apart." She then laughed. I didn't find it amusing, and considered it racist.
