Our room was spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We stayed on a room only basis as we had an early morning flight. We paid an additional fee for short term car parking, which worked out cheaper than the cost of airport meet & greet service. The airport shuttle service was excellent. Phones were easily located in the airport, on our return, and instructions/ hotel number provided which made everything very easy and hassle free. Within 5 minutes of reaching bus stop D, Mossy, the driver, arrived to collect us. Mossy was excellent, he was friendly, relaxed & chatty, smartly dressed and very helpful, and it was like having our own private transport service as we had the bus to ourselves. We had an evening meal in the restaurant, the food was well presented, tasty and good portion size. Only one minor point an that was that our side of onion rings wasn't initially served with our meal, as if it had been forgotten and was served about 5 mins later. Both the bar & restaurant areas were busy and we experienced a good lively atmosphere.

We had to be at the airport at 04:30. Personally, at that time of the morning, I would have liked to have something to snack on and it would have been benefical to have a complimentary small/light 'to go' breakfast, eg a croissant or similar with a small portion of juice. This could already be pre-wrapped and in the room or picked up from reception when leaving.

Service in the pub was poor initially our waitron, Oisin (I think that's how it was spelt) was amaZing!! However when the food was brought, there was no cutlery on the table! The server had to go fetch cutlery. Oisin was nowhere to be seen! We then had to call someone to take our dessert order. The server almost threw the plates onto the table - and again, no cutlery. He.(I dont recall his name) promised to bring us spoons amd promptly disappeared! While the icecream melted, I eventually had to go and ask for spoons myself. NOT the type of service one expects from a 4-star restaurant!

Great location, the proximity to the train station and the pedestrian land bridge to T1 , probably your best kept secret! The walk and open much appreciated when travelling for long periods in small aluminium tubes called aeroplanes or trains. Great to see Bewleys Tea and Coffee, you had me thinking of Grafton Street 😀

The under prioritisation of walking traffic to Hotel. Of course very much appreciated the shuttle service and helpful driver on arrival but when staying more than one day , walking needed. Similar to your competition the corridor noise could be reduced with an extra door between the corridor and bed.

Dressing gown and slippers provided, all amenities to make tea/coffee etc, room was clean, bed was comfortable, had a bath (huge win for me!), extremely easy to walk from the train station at Manchester airport to the hotel, extremely easy to walk to the airport terminals from the hotel, felt safe there, staff at the front desk were super friendly and accommodating, booked me onto the complimentary shuttle with ease, shuttle turned up in plenty of time, was provided with breakfast to go as I had an early flight and would miss my included breakfast. Just overall great experience.

The only thing was that I couldn’t access the gym very easily - it was locked and wouldn’t open when I tried with my room key

All went well. Check in, parking, luggage cart handy, everything was fast and smooth. The room was spacious and the bathroom spotless with an excellent shower. Dinner in the restaurant was exceptionally good and an enjoyable surprise when we were really only killing time for an early morning flight. Shuttle to the Terminal was prompt and, as always, spacious. The shuttle staff are always a treat. So friendly, upbeat and totally helpful.

The room badly needed more light. This has always been a problem. Also, the duvets are too hot. MUCH too hot. This has been the case for years. And there are no options. No sheets or blankets or any way to choose anything less. This does need to be addressed.

Well appointed, comfortable and clean room. Friendly helpful staff and easy check in and out. Efficient and reliable free airport transfer. It's an airport hotel and often staff don't care because people are in and out each day; but staff were great. I was also able to check in at midday which was a bonus after a cancelled flight and subsequent hassle.

Dinner was okay but was expensive for an ok set menu of two courses for £28 and soft drinks were £4:00 for a small bottle of Fanta or coke. The bar and eating area were a bit chaotic and lacked ambience. Service was slow. Overall the evening meal and eating area let the hotel down. I didn't have breakfast due to an early morning flight.

I didn't like the fact once the booking had been made you are then contacted by the hotel to ask for any special requests etc. I asked for a quiet room, this was acknowledged by the hotel, upon arrival we had not been given the quiet room and had to ask for one. If you're going to ask for requests (the hotel) and they are made, don't ignore them. Yes, you might come back and say they cannot always be fulfilled, on this occasion it could so no excuses. We booked a deluxe room but no extra touches like biscuits, shower caps etc, handkies in the room. Where is the deluxe bit?

I have always stayed over the road in another expensive hotel chain yet The Clayton exceeded them on EVERY level. My room was comfortabke and clean, i got a call to ask if i was happy with my room and if i was ok, I ordered room service that was spot on, I spoke with super friendly staff everywhere in the hotel, whether it was the recptionist, room service, bar staff, cleaners, sirport transfer driver, you can tell they all have the same customer service experience they want to deliver. My days staying in the 'over the road hotel thats more expensive' are long gone as these guys know how to make you enjoy your stay. Thank you all and please please keep up the good work. Xx

It did the job: helped us with a good night's sleep the night before an extremely early flight. Tea and coffee provided in the room - would have been good to have biscuits and hot chocolate too. Very quiet, despite being so near the airport. Shuttle service excellent. Would stay again if necessary.

We didn't like the booking service - kept getting e mails to say we needed to pay (although we had), which made me suspicious and when I phoned the hotel, they were unable to help. That needs sorting. they told us the booking staff had gone home (just after 8 pm). I began to worry that I'd been scammed and that the hotel didn't exist. Very relieved when we turned up.

The room was spacious and comfortable. We had a good sleep. Breakfast was very good and very well priced. Transport to and from the train station was also very good.

We received multiple requests for payment which had already been made. Eventually we contacted the reception who confirmed that we had indeed paid. We were then advised to disregard emails requesting payment. It was an unwelcome surprise to us to be given a satisfaction questionnaire at breakfast: it was made clear to us that we were expected to fill it in over breakfast. This seemed an unnecessary intrusion on our stay; something that we have not experienced elsewhere.
