The room was excellent , very spacious and extremely clean and comfortable. We were given a complimentary upgrade on arrival which was much appreciated and we had a beautiful view of the gardens. The gardens are really beautiful and very well kept, lovely walk down to the foreshore and a wooded area to exercise our dog off the lead. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was very good.

We had breakfast for 3 mornings in the conservatory as we didn't want to leave our dog in the room. Its a nice space with a great view of the gardens but it is a little basic and could do with an update. Some potted plants and new furniture more appropriate to a conservatory would lift it and make it seem less bland.

lovely location. lots of great walks locally. Dog friendly. Dogs allowed in the conservatory or outside for meals but need to book in advance. Good local pubs serving good food also dog friendly. Would recommend The Red Lion in Mawnan Smith for value for money meals and a large menu to choose from.

standard bedroom a bit dated now. Shower over the bath with shower curtain is not a good look these days. Hot water took ages to come through the taps. Good large towels and Elemis amenities were great though. Good breakfasts. Evening menus in the conservatory were overpriced at two courses for £31 especially as portions were very small.

What a find! I was impressed with the Reception Manager and the staff when I telephoned to make enquiries to stay for my wife and I, and two relatives. I was delighted to learn that this hotel is family-run. Very tasteful rooms, generous in size. Magnificent location in lovely grounds- worth a somewhat tortuous journey to find this hotel jewel. Charming ambiance. Food outstanding. Charming golf course. The hotel organised a wonderful boat trip for us with a most informative, interesting guide. Choice of fine dining or more casual terrace cuisine. Staff very professional, courteous and friendly. We will definitely return before long.

Not applicable.

Very relaxed, beautiful room (though would have liked a better view!), very friendly staff, great trip on the Helford River in the hotel boat and exceptional dinner in the excellent restaurant. Breakfasts also great. Golf room was a bit intimidating as several club members sitting around and talking and so not really nice for a relative amateur to be discussing details - but then they are the paying regulars so no reason why they shouldn't feel at home. Pool and hot tub brilliant. Parking easy and plentiful. Few (any?) dogs and none apparent in the dining room which is good for disturbance and sanitation purposes.

No real concerns. Spa was always booked for the days we were there and a better available guide and pricing of facilities and better information about advance booking/availability would have been welcome.

very clean and classic hotel

Bit of a “SNOOTY” ruling about where you sit for breakfast. We were unable to use the main dining facility on our first evening. As a penalty for not having the evening meal we were put in a side room table 42 and not in the main dining room for breakfast. On the two occasions we did have our evening meal in the main hotel restaurant we were informed the tables we used would be our table for breakfast. The five days we had breakfast we were seated at table 42 on every occasion. I did ask the waiting staff who allocated our tables why we are not allocated a main dining room table for breakfast. I was informed that she did not know probably something in our notes!!! I would be interested to read what was in our notes.

The property was lovely and clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our bedroom was very spacious with a nice bathroom and separate toilet. There was plenty of storage space including wardrobes and chests of drawers

We felt that the property was rather expensive. We had a room at the end of a corridor overlooking the golf course. Whilst the view was very pleasant we had to keep the curtains closed when changing or dressing as it would be possible to look straight into the room from the golf course. This meant having to have the lights on. We feel it would be sensible to put some net curtains or slatted blinds at the window to alleviate this problem.

Breakfast was comprehensive and cooked items were prepared to order. All the staff that we encountered were friendly, helpful and polite. The bedroom (we had a standard room - what were the Signature rooms?) which was adequate for our brief stay: the bed was comfortable and the facilities good. The grounds were extensive (including the golf course) and we enjoyed the walk through the valley gardens down to the river head where a small pleasant cafe is to be found.

We had no real complaints. However, for those with less or limited mobility might find access to the bedroom floors and other parts of the hotel (the lower restaurant level, the terrace, etc) somewhat difficult.

Beautiful location Good facilities. Food generally good although small servings of fish and vegetables at dinner and breakfast items cold twice. One staff member stood out - Tiggy. She was very friendly and helpful, always smiling and very hard working..

Biomass boilers, although admirable idea, regularly blowing smoke at us including into our room. Staff very mixed. Some helpful and friendly, others need a bit more training.

My parents spent their honeymoon at Budock Vean in 1947, so we have a great fondness for the hotel. It has retained the ambience of a country house, and is a comfortable and peaceful place, set in beautiful grounds within the Helford River area. We quickly abandoned our plans to visit further afield and instead enjoyed the quiet lanes and pretty villages and inlets. Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens (National Trust) are a 15 minute walk from the hotel or 3 minute drive, each with ravine gardens, Trebah has a very nice cafe/restaurant. We especially enjoyed the amenities at the hotel, the 9 hole golf course and beautiful indoor pool. Dining in the Restaurant was a particular pleasure, the four course menu presented us with locally sourced and beautifully presented meals every evening and breakfast was a real treat, cooked to order and all served efficiently, our thanks to Lana and her team. These are difficult times for establishments such as Budock Vean and we wish them well.

Nothing really, we enjoy Budock Vean just as it is.

Great location not far from the river and nice grounds to walk around. Pool and Jacuzzi good very good breakfast. Room very nice and clean and and tea and coffee etc lol nicely made available. Having to dress up up for the four course dinner wasn't expecting but we are able to have similar good food in the bar area

The only problem was the Charging System for electric cars wasn't working. No one able to put it right. There was however a 3-pin plugs available. Assuming The normal charger would work I didn't bring my domestic lead which would have helped
