Every member of staff we encountered was really lovely. The hotel itself is very well-kept throughout and had stunning views from the terrace. Our room was decent-sized, we had bathrobes and slippers which is always a plus, and we even had a Nespresso machine in the room! The pool was nice and warm but small, probably a handful of people would feel crowded there, but when we used it we were alone so it was lovely, same for the sauna. Really appreciated the breakfast service and the fact that they had jams in glass jars and not plastic.

a bit stingy with the toiletries, only one small shower gel tube per room. The hot breakfast was quite small in size, 1 rasher of bacon, one egg etc (the traditional one). No problem for us as we left the table quite full, but could be a problem for someone with a bigger appetite. Neither of these things impacted our pleasant stay!

Staff extremely friendly at all times. Full English breakfast portion control was sensible. Single room size was ideal; not cramped and I found the wardrobe shelving layout particularly useful. As regards location, spectacular views are available from the hotel & grounds.

Room was over the kitchen: 1) There was a strong mechanical vibration (floor & bed) as I recuperated from a long car journey on arrival afternoon. Luckily, it was absent at all other times. 2) There were two or three startling bangs from kitchen staff filling waste bins in the rear yard. I felt this could have been done more quietly.

The staff were very professional polite and helpful, we upgraded our room without any hassle and so happy we did as the views from our room were amazing.

My parents were hoteliers of a 4 star 2 AA rosettes hotel, so I have a good idea of what to expect and The Royal Duchy more than meets expectations, what could of been better was my stay had been for longer.

We arrived quite late (after 10pm, but we called the hotel to notify them). Pete, on reception, couldn't have been more welcoming and informative.

The heating in the room had not been turned on prior to our arrival on a very chilly January night, when the road to Truro was covered in snow... We quickly turned the thermostatic valve up to max from 'snowflake', got the aircon going in heating mode and managed to find the switch for the towel rail, too, as the bathroom felt rather Arctic, too. Luckily, there was plenty of hot water for drinks and a bath, but it would have been much nicer to step into a warm room on arrival. The pot of coffee at breakfast was still undrinkable - it smells of coffee, but it's see-through and weak. Took the small jug of milk (asked for permission) and went back to the room for an espresso.

Our dinner in the hotel restaurant was really lovely, including the bottle of NZ sauvignon blanc my friend and I shared (and subsequently ordered 3 bottles from a wine merchant when I returned home). Breakfast is ok, there's a fair amount of choice and the cooked breakfast was delicious.

The toilet in the bathroom was broken and unsafe to sit on. We were really worried that it would break off. At breakfast, the breads by the toaster are often stale, especially the loaf of brioche, because they are not covered with anything. Also, as it's self-service, everyone holds on to the loaves as they are trying to cut slices of bread, which is incredibly unhygienic and off-putting.

It's a Victorian hotel which has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. It's also a holiday hotel which meant that it was fairly deserted in February. Everything went well. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Both dinner and breakfast were a credit to the chef. I particularly liked being met at the door and having my bags taken up to my room.

The WiFi was unsecured which meant I had to use my VPN, which always slows things down. It worked perfectly well though.

Very comfortable bed, Nespresso machine was a nice touch, all aspects of the room decor in good condition, all the staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent with top class presentation. Crab ravioli with foam starter was delicious. And my room was tidied every day! I was able to walk from the hotel to Maenporth beach and also visit the National Maritime Museum.

Would be a good idea to have at least a fan in the room as I don't think there was aircon - it might have got stuffy in higher temperatures even with the windows open.

The team there were very welcoming and professional. I was offered complimentary prosecco upon arrival, which was appreciated. The room was done to a high standard and had the most wonderful view of Pendennis Castle over the water. Very happy stay there.

No dislikes, it's just to let others know there are no dining options on summer Saturdays other than the BBQ they put on, so make other arrangements if that won't interest you. Also, I'm fairly certain there's a dress code if you are using the restaurant for dinner, so best check before booking!

Staff was excellent, good location and facilities was good, ie, pool, gym

The restaurant let the hotel down. Breakfast always appeared to be pre cooked, no selection of fresh fruit. Tin fruit always used. Lunch menu Seemed over priced and poor selection They could not do the basics correctly and some main, starters dishes had no flavour. Recommend all kitchen staff vist all restaurants in Falmouth. Because some are a much better and higher standard.

Very well located - only a 10 minute walk from the glorious Gyllyngvase Beach. I think it's one of the few hotels offering single rooms (which are cheaper for single travellers). Furthermore there was a large selection of vegan options at breakfast. The complimentary glass of prosecco on arrival was a nice touch.

There was no air-conditioning in the room but this is not really a problem in Cornwall as the weather is not super hot. I had to open the window to keep the room cool and it was a little noisy outside. However, this was not a problem with earplugs.
