The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The room and bathroom were good and very clean. Breakfast was a choice between Full English and Continental with a good supply of cereals, fruit, coffee, pastries and bread for toasting. There is parking available, but just make sure you park in the right place or you get a stern note under your windscreen whiper. The hotel is on the main road through Sandgate and the centre of Folkestone is not far away. The 102 bus from Dover to Lydd stops right outside the hotel.

The hotel is on the main road so even though the room did not face that direction there was some traffic noise.

We had read all of the revues before booking, but everything on site far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt and were very welcome, and when we were taken up to our room we were delighted with the cleanliness and decoration. The evening of arrival we had one of their supper meals and that too was very very good, and breakfast every morning was the same, very good and looked forward to every day. I would be very happy to go back any time that we are in the area and highly recommend it to anyone. And, my gratitude to the owners and the staff. Sincerely, Andrew and Deborah Fischer

It was so clean, nice decor and well looked after! The family owners were friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. Bill cooked really good quality food at reasonable prices. The hotel is well situated with excellent bus service outside the door. Close to Sandgate beach and a few cafe, shops etc. We loved it here and would well recommend The Royal Norfolk Hotel

Our Room was a little small but well furnished. Near a busy road was unable to open window except from midnight to 5 am. It was quite warm ( a fan may have been available we didn’t ask!) the hotel was faultless

A fantastic family run hotel with an amazing staff team, we were met with a friendly warm welcome and a smile. The hotel was clean and in amazing surroundings and friendly bar. The room was perfect, it was clean and comfortable, the facilities in the room were modern and the shower was amazing!! The hotel itself is situated close to a lovely quiet beach which was perfect for fishing, reading and relaxation. I’d more than recommend it and will at some point return!!…thank you 🙂

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about it!’

The Royal Norfolk Hotel is a charming Victorian character hotel, located along the sea front in Sandgate, on the edge of Folkstone and it is conveniently close to shops, restaurants and attractions. We found the hotel owners and staff were very welcoming, creating a warm and friendly environment. The room was excellent, clean, comfortable, quiet and well-equipped.

There is limited on-site parking in the hotel car park, though free street parking is available overnight from 4:00 pm until 10:00 am.

The staff really make the difference here, they are very personable and welcoming. They were happy to chat with me at the bar after my friends went home, and were very efficient with any questions I had. Location is just a 1 min walk from the seafront with a number of bars and restaurants nearby. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

On the 30th of december I was the only guest staying, which meant that it was not always easy to find staff (check in/Breakfast), since they were preparing for NYE the following night. This was understandable and pretty minor, with a few more guests in the hotel and no party to prep for I suspect things would have been very different. My room on the top floor was recently refurbished and very clean, but at £130 pn I think it needs a better shower - the electric shower was a bit underpowered.

Nice room, very clean, newly renovated bathroom. Staff was really friendly! Great location directly behind the beach promenade. Pubs and restaurants nearby.

Our room was next to the main street, so we could hear all the cars... But in the night, it was quiet! You could notice the springs in the mattress and we only had one big blanket, but still sleept very good.

Owners were AMAZING! We arrived VERY early and Debbie could not have been more accommodating. We decided to walk along the beach/boardwalk into town, and enjoy the beautiful day. When we arrived back, our luggage was brought back to our room. Debbie and the rest of the staff were exceptionally friendly and forthcoming with recommendation and answers to our many questions. The room was very spacious and clean. She arranged our taxi. Wish we had more time to stay and explore Folkestone. This is a gem - would love to stay here again.

Kitchen was closed for dinner for a private party, but we walked elsewhere. It was a little disappointing, but does not change my opinion of this great spot!

The Royal Norfolk Hotel is an older property, which is reflected in the rooms, which are clean and comfortable and the pub/restaurant/outside space are all very cozy and welcoming. Truly the best part of our stay were the staff, mum Alison and son Ollie were so lovely and made us feel very much at home. Close to the beach and there is a bus stop very near to take you into Folkestone Harbour. We will be back for a longer stay!

Friendly down to earth staff. The hotel bar is a chilled place to enjoy a leisurely evening drink. Folkestone is only a ten minute bus ride away, with a bus stop right outside the hotel. Saves using the car, and allows a drink or two if dining out! Our room was quite adequate, with a super comfy superking bed. Although on a busy through route traffic was calm at night and did not disturb sleep. We will return!!

Being critical, I would like to see more breakfast options. However, what was offered was well cooked to order.
