New Inn Hotel

Lovely food, friendly staff and a quiet and restful stay at The New Inn. The building is old so expect wonky floors. Nice clean rooms and really nice and reasonably priced food. In the evening, Saturday night, it was busy with a lovely atmosphere. The three of us, including a 13yr old rated the stay and would return the next time we needed a place to stay. Took us 1/2 hr to drive to Diddley Squat Farm and the pretty village of Lechlade was worth a walk round. The Thames abuts the garden and swans nested alongside which was a lovely treat in the morning after good breakfast.

Lechlade is a beautiful place to stay. The staff at the new inn were very helpful and polite.

Had a bit of issue with booking a table for an evening meal, tried several weeks before hand, felt that the gentleman taking my call was otherwise distracted, just to find out we had no booking when we arrived, this was soon sorted on arrival. The shower pressure in our room was pretty useless, the second morning my partner had to use a family members shower to rinse off. Room prices seemed a little steep to me. Such a shame we had these experiences as it was a beautiful hotel.

The rooms were well laid out and it was an unusual treat to have mirrors and sockets in the right places. The shower was powerful and the water temperature was always good. The picnic tables outside the rooms were a great asset as the weather was so warm. Breakfasts were great and the chef made us some sandwiches to take away for a packed lunch.

The pillows were too deep for me personally, although they probably suit most people. Different options would have been good. The food was good in the restaurant but it would have been good to have something more seasonal. These small points did not spoil our stay.

We had a fantastic room - number 12, It was very large and comfortable with a great en-suite. Dinner in the evening was exceptional. We were a group of 10 who chose a number of different dishes. All of them came together, they were all piping hot and the quality was truly superb - EVERYONE said their meal was really excellent (wonderful flavour, superbly cooked vegetables, all very nicely presented). The cooked breakfast was also excellent - very high quality and well presented. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

The service was rather slow - but apparently they were short of staff and on the evening and morning we were there, the place was absolutely packed out. This did not compromise the quality of the food though.

The staff at the New Inn Hotel were absolutely brilliant - all so friendly and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with a good choice including specials. Breakfast was also excellent. When we asked if it was possible to have some fresh fruit (even though it wasn't on the menu), we were given some fresh strawberries and raspberries which was very much appreciated. The rooms (we had 4) were all immaculately clean and well equipped and we all slept well in our very comfortable beds. The booking process was very efficient and the questions/requests I raised were all answered very promptly by the hotel. Plenty of free parking on site too, which was great for such a central location in Lechlade.

Struggling to think of anything negative to say about this lovely hotel and it's amazing staff!

The staff were great—helpful and friendly. The hotel honoured our request for 2 quiet rooms. We stayed in the hotel proper—the charming looking rooms behind (a former stable?) may have been a bit less quiet. The building itself is old and therefore meanders but that was part of its charm. Our room was spacious and clean, with a very comfortable bed. It was initially a bit cool as heat had been turned off for the season but the room had a portable heater that worked well so that was not a problem. We had a very good meal in the dining room.

The carpets are worn. The top floors involve several sets of stairs so if someone has mobility issues or a big suitcase, be prepared.

The hotel is in a perfect location to attend a wedding at nearby Oxleaze Barn. Hotel was respectful of the period of build. Beautiful grounds and views. Lovely bar and food. Great local amenities and walks. Polite helpful staff. plenty of parking space to the rear. Accommodated an early check in to allow us to change for the wedding. Receptionist arranged a taxi to collect us from the wedding venue end of the evening.

Not a complaint but an advisory for future guests the stairs I found a little tricky due to mobility issues so may be worth mentioning in the requests box when booking that you require a lower ground room if you have a disability.

Friendliness of the staff particularly Lynn who was exceptional and we felt that she was a great asset to the hotel. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff were very willing to carry our suitcases up and down the stairs, very important for two ladies in their 80’s who were placed on the second floor.

The excessive noise in the restaurant on Friday evening. We had not been warned that there would be a large party in that night. Being put right on top of the coffee machine on the first morning when there were plenty of other empty tables No anti slip mat in shower?

We were allocated a quiet spacious first floor room with comfortable four poster bed for our one night stay. Heater provided was useful until central heating came on. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious at a reasonable price as was breakfast the next morning. The pub bar was busy with a good atmosphere. Staff were helpful and pleasant. We’d be happy to return.

No hot water in the bathroom!! Didn’t get a chance to get this rectified as left straight after breakfast. Some dirty marks on the carpet which could easily be dealt with, otherwise a very nice room and stay.

Heating wasn't turned on until 17:00hrs, which is fare enough really in these times. The hotel staff turned it on when I pointed it out and explained the point to me. The food was very nice for the evening meal, a little expensive but the accommodation was a inexpensive so it worked out even. We were charged an extra £15 for our little dog, probably a bit steep, but can understand that some dogs my take more cleaning next day what with pet hairs for example. On the hole, a good experience, friendly staff, friendly locals and a good hearty breakfast.
