I booked this hotel because I saw it was top-rated for solo travelers, and close to the tube. I can’t recommend it enough especially if you’re a woman traveling alone. The Grand Royale always felt extremely safe, clean, and hospitable. The young men that worked as bellhops/assistant were so attentive and helpful. I was so thankful that they actually brought my bags to my room, as I had arrived early and left them in luggage storage. Breakfast was okay. The entry, lobby, and breakfast room are gorgeous! The rooms are a bit small if you’re used to more of the American sized hotel room, but it felt cozy and I was only there to sleep and shower. Also, hotel rooms in Europe tend to be smaller. I booked the twin single and ended up on the 8th floor with an AMAZING view of London, all for a very reasonable fee. There are 2 tube stations nearby (Queensway and Bayswater). They can get you anywhere you need to go and they’re seriously a 2-3 min walk away.
There isn’t a shower curtain and just a piece of small glass towards the front of the shower, but my last hotel in London was like that, too. I chalk it up to a cultural difference. However, when you shower, it’s easy to get water all of the floor if you aren’t careful. The shower heads are moveable, so if you adjust yours by making it face the corner, you won’t have to worry about water getting all over the floor.

Great location with a lovely ambience. Clean and well maintained facilities with helpful and professional staff.
The room we booked was last minute and our room was under the lounge area, the room itself was great but the noise of activity and movement above could be heard at all hours.

Location was fantastic, walk outside and your in Kensington gardens, 2 tube stations around the other corner with plenty of restaurants. Air conditioning in the room, hairdryer and very clean. Beautiful building.
The £20 they charge you and say it will be refunded back on the day you leave, even when you've already paid in full, I checked out 6 days ago and it's still pending.

When I arrived to the hotel I was meet with staff and was properly checked in. I arrived early and has to pleasure to leave my baggage with the staff as I explored the city. The hotel offers breakfast however it was not included in the original price. Breakfast was served hot and staff was always accommodating. The hotel has a bar and a sitting room to enjoy small conversations and a warm place to wait for travel. I really enjoyed my stay.
I did not enjoy the bathroom layout. The shower do not have curtains or shower screens to stop the water from getting the floor and everything in the room wet. It was extremely inconvenience.

The breakfast is standard for England and the price is really reasonable. Also the tast was pritty good. But I would recomend if you stay longer try a berakfast in one of the coffee shops around (with a 15 min walk) The room has been cleanes every day including changing of the towels. The team is really friendly The hotel is quite close to underground (Queensway and Bayswater) and differnt bus stations - perfect to explore the city (if you stay longer I would recomend to buy an Oyster Card for traveling) close to the underground stations are also a lot of restaurants - from typical Pub, Chiniese, Italien ,....
the view out from the window in our room was so-so the room size was realy small also for 2 people for me the bed was too soft

Lovely architectural building. The reception, drawing room, breakfast room and theatre bar are all beautiful. The staff are all really polite, helpful & courteous. The single rooms are small, but efficiently laid out & include everything you need. The breakfast is worth the £12 (pre book price). There is no other food service here, however, the Theatre Bar is good for drinks in the evenings. The next road down has numerous restaurants for the evening if you want to eat out & stay local to the hotel. The location next to Hyde park is perfect and there are two tube stations close by.
The single rooms are up on the top floor and have a sky light & it’s a bit noisy when it rains.

The location is superb, just several minutes from Queensway station and Hyde park, and about 20 mins walk from Notting Hill. There's a currency exchange and a supermarket nearby. The lobby and the dining room look fantastic. Breakfast was decent, service at breakfast was friendly and quick. My single room was super tiny, but very cozy and clean. There was tea, biscuits, etc.

Great location. Near 2 underground stations and right opposite Hyde Park. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was good. Cleanliness was excellent. We were able to leave our luggage there all day even after checking out. Just a few things we were disappointed in.
Our deluxe (!) twin room was too small, very claustrophobic and dark. The bathroom was even smaller though very spotless. Both days we spent in London were cold and rainy and efforts could have been made to make the hotel more cosy and atmospheric. . No fires were lit in foyer despite 2 huge fire grates and the bar area could have been more welcoming by lighting some candles. However, on a good day we may not have noticed those things.

Excellent location just steps from Hyde Park and many different restaurants, food shops and take aways. --- Very beautiful interior!!! --- My room was small (not the lady/lord of the manor rooms pictured, more like the servant's room) but perfectly adequate for London. VERY comfortable bed, cozy and warm heater, super hot water in the bathroom and all perfectly clean. -- Nice, helpful staff let me check in 3 hours early, which was wonderful. I will definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
Be sure to check which room you're booking as there seem to be some large, grand ones and some much more compact ones. My small room was fine, just very different than some of the rooms pictured.

This was a real find! The hotel was only about a 3 minute walk from either Queensway or Bayswater, so well located if travelling by train and very close to Hyde Park. There were also a huge variety of restaurants within easy walking distance. It was located in a quiet side street and we were not disturbed by the usual London traffic noise either which was very welcome. The property is steeped in history, dating back to around 1880 and many of the original features had been beautifully restored. The 'theatre bar' in particular was a beautiful room where one was transported back in time to a bygone era and the main lounge was also a really beautiful room with spectacular stained glass windows and wooden panelling. Checking in was quick and easy and the bedroom was a reasonable size for London and the small bathroom well designed. We were even gifted a small bottle of wine, some bottled water, fruit and a good selection of hot drinks and biscuits which was a lovely touch.
We would have preferred a 5' rather than 4'6" bed - but it was very comfortable and there was the odd mark on the carpet.
