I was welcomed warmly on my arrival, it was easy to find and I was able to park in the car park. The room was on the first floor with views out on to the main road. Superbly decorated and very comfortable. Breakfast was at a set time but that worked well as it was served to me quickly and it was really tasty. The location is a short stroll from the main high street in Lyndhurst but perfect for when I set off to access the main roads. I'll definitely select The Penny Farthing on my next visit to Lyndhurst.

Because the hotel is on the main road, there was lorry noise outside but this was never particularly intrusive.

Staff were nice and friendly. Breakfast was freshly made if ordering a cooked one, otherwise there were small boxed cereals, some fruit juices, toast and a variety of condiments. It was simple but enough for our needs for adults and under 12 year olds. The apartments were spacious, very clean, nice bedding and standard towels.

Furniture in the apartments were not very modern and a bit miss matched in colour but good condition. The soft mattress sank quite a lot but managed to sleep fine. One of the rooms on the front looks out on to the main busy road so is a bit noisy first thing in the morning.

Room was spacious and pleny of hanging space for clothes. Shower was in the bath but all O.K Good idea to choose what time you wanted breakfast which meant no searching for somewhere to sit and avoided lots of guests all coming down to have breakfast at the same time.

Not much of a bar and no pricing that we could see. Our first visit to Lyndhurst and The New Forest so we needed some maps to use for a walk on Sunday. The tourist center was not open until Monday when we got what we needed. Workmen arrived to renovate the flat roof and tarmac it ,not a problem but they started at 07.40 am so no chance of a lay in .

On arrival I found that we had been allocated a room which faced the main road. Having read reviews I expected there to be a lot of traffic noise in this room so I spoke to the manager on duty and he agreed to change the room for one which overlooked the car park at the back of the property. The room was really clean and had a large bathroom. Wifi reception was very good and the room fan was appreciated. Breakfast service was very good and the amount of food available was more than sufficient.

We had a two-night stay and the room was not 'freshened' after the first night.

The room was a good size, bathroom was nice and roomy, a few cracked tiles and sealant leaking on shower screen, little things that could be improved. Shower was powerful. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Cleanliness 10/10. Nice decor. Comfortable bed. Very nice and friendly staff. Breakfast was great and booking a time for it meant that service was quick and efficient, no hanging around. Would definately recommend and will certainly return. Good value.

A couple of small things, there were a couple of cracked tiles in the bathroom and the sealant at the bottom of the shower screen leaked some water on to the floor. A couple of minor things that didn't effect out stay.

The rooms we booked were bright and fresh looking. Very clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable. This is our second stay here and we will be returning in the future.

Only two little things. It would be nice to have bottled We love water in the bedrooms (I need to take tablets and it would have been handy) and secondly we had no milk in one of our rooms (which was obviously an oversight, but I am sure if I had queried this with them they would have provided it) .. I just waited and had coffee with my lovely breakfast.

The Penny Farthing was a lovely hotel, very friendly staff, very comfortable, clean rooms and a great breakfast. It was situated right next to the centre of Lyndhurst with easy access to all the shops, cafés and the Heritage museum.

The only drawback was the staircase to the first floor which I felt was a little dangerous having the heavy fire door right on the top step. My mother in law is tiny and a bit unsteady on her feet so we had to take extra care going up the stairs as she wasn’t strong enough to push it open.

Good location, very friendly staff and lovely cooked breakfast in the morning.

Our room was overlooking a very busy road and the traffic noise could be clearly heard even through closed windows. Although traffic level did fade throughout the night there were no really quiet periods. As a result we did wake on a few occasions after taking a while to fall asleep due to noise level. We are usually heavy sleepers so investing so some sound proofing would make for a much better night sleep for future guests.

Lovely room and perfect location . Very good value for money with also a good choice of traditional english breakfast included . The lady at the reception gave us great recommendations for lunch at the local pub. Everything was very clean and the room had a kettle for coffee and teas ,hairdryer and a thermostat to temperature of the room .Very good location only 10 minutes by bus from Brockenhurst train station

a choice of coffee would have been nice as only filter was available but otherwise the breakfast was lovely and generous

Staff were very helpful and kind. Breakfast was excellent, very accommodating for us. Room was comfy, and loved the shower. Water pressure was surprisingly good for a hotel! Forgot my hairdryer, so having one (a proper dryer not a travel one) in the room was perfect!

Only minor grumbles, it is dated so you can hear people walking around quite a bit and our bathroom door had a horrible squeak. There wasn't much space to put luggage (Raleigh Room), fortunately we only had an overnight bag.
