The location was perfect so close to Plymouth Hoe,the Barbican and the shopping centre which were all within walking distance. The staff were all very warm,welcoming,friendly and no request ever seemed to be too much trouble for them so we really appreciated that too! The hotel was also well maintained, clean and looked well cared for ….i especially liked the outside decked terrace with tables & chairs as well as beautiful flowers for people who wanted to enjoy a drink in the fresh air…and obviously for smokers too ….although all the cigarette butts needed to be removed daily!

My 85 year old mother struggled with the stairs (but managed,) as there is no lift so this may be a problem for other guests too…I don’t think that there are any ground floor bedrooms as an alternative option either as all the dining/drinking areas were on the ground floor?

Location superb for walking our dog on the Hoe, access to City Centre and Theatre. Room chosen was ground floor. Small but comfortable and easy for getting the dog in and out. Small car park at the back so relativley secure when leaving the dog. Lovely helpfeul staff, good food. Our dog was able to be with us the bar area. Be aware it is a small hotel but perfectly situated and well run.

If we'd stayed for longer than one night we think we would have needed a larger room on the 1st floor. The shower in ground floor room is tiny although the room with toilet and basin was quite OK. There is no lift and the ground floor room is not suitable for wheelchair users.

The clean crisp white sheets. The breakfast was excellent. The staff, very polite and helpful. The location excellent. History of hotel made interesting reading.

The stains on the carpet in the room we were offered. A twin room was not available. I was offered a family room. Excellent size, my friend had the bottom bunk bed. Although happy to accept this and it was a larger room no mineral water available and yet it's listed. The list in room is incorrect.

The Staff - Excellent. Very helpful and friendly. The breakfast - Outstanding. Good choice and large portions. Location - Very convenient for the Hoe and the town. Outside front terrace - A very pleasant environment to sit outside.

A small room on the third floor. Took an eternity to obtain hot water (if l had been warned it would not have been so bad). But the plus factors, such as the friendly staff, more than compensated.

Excellent location, on the corner of Hoe Park. Very quite neighbourhood and minutes away from the buz of Barbican. Very clean room, very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good by basic. Nice view from the 3rd floor.

The double room is OK for 1 person, too small for 2. Water pressure on the shower too low. You can feel the lack of elevator if your room is on the 3rd floor and you had one too many after a night out :-).

I received a warm welcome at this family-run hotel in a superb location just minutes away from Plymouth Hoe. My room was very clean and comfortable. There is a wide breakfast choice served by a friendly and efficient waitress in a light and airy room- no windowless basement breakfast room here as I have encountered elsewhere! I will be making several trips to Plymouth and it took me a while to find the right place to stay. I am happy to have finally found the Invicta as it meets all my needs.

Functional clean room - excellent breakfast - good location near the hoe, restaurants - helpful friendly staffs who went out of their way to attend to our every needs - Roy the owner introduced us to Chris ( a very knowledgeable polite gentlemen) who took us around Plymouth and surrounding towns - we highly recommend this hotel as we had a great stay in Plymouth

There are many many positives about staying at the Invicta Hotel in Plymouth and overall I would recommend it! The owners have put a lot of love and attention into renovating the beautiful building and it shows - the rooms are lovely, we stayed on the second floor with a view of Plymouth Hoe. The window in the room provided a glorious view and provided lots of natural sunlight. The room itself is modern and stylish, with a lovely high ceiling and relatively large bathroom (with bath and shower). The little touches in the room make all the difference, for example the tasty biscuits and drinks station provided, or the fancy soap in the bathroom that smelt so good! I was also very impressed with the free WiFi and Netflix that was available on the TV. We had the opportunity to speak with the owner, who was lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. He was happy to provide information and the history of the hotel (which they lovingly restored themselves!). He sat with us outside to walk through the items available on the restaurant menu, and the chef kindly offered alternative vegetarian options if anything was out of stock. This was lovely, I’m used to being handed a menu and ignored for the next 20 minutes so this really was a nice touch! We ate at the restaurant in the evening and were given a lovely window seat - the food was nothing short of incredible and I would highly recommend a visit! The staff were courteous and helpful and checked in regularly (but not too much!) to make sure we were happy with our meal. The portion sizes are very generous and we were very happy! We visited the restaurant again for breakfast, and as expected the food was beautiful again. A continental breakfast was available with fruits, yoghurts, cereals, pastries and toast. A full breakfast menu was available to order, cooked fresh while you wait - all included with the room price. A selection of drinks is also available. The location is fantastic

My only recommendation for potential visitors is to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper - this is an old building and unfortunately that means the soundproofing isn’t what you might be used to in newer buildings. Our neighbours had their tv extremely loud - the hotel obviously can’t be blamed for this - and we could here every word of their chosen show! We could hear a lot of door crashing and chatter throughout the night and early into the morning - and I was woken with a start a couple of times, but this wouldn’t stop me staying again (I’d just bring my ear plugs). This could be said for any hotel so don’t let it deter you!!!

We spent a couple nights in this hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel location is so close to the shopping cente, Barbican and Hoe, which is all in easy walking distance. The hotel and room was very clean, with great parking, though the hotel was not full, so plenty of spaces left. We were on the top floor, and the last set of stairs is fairly steep, so i would not recommend this floor for people who find it hard to walk, but i was fine for us. And i got to say the breakfast was brilliant, and set us up for the day. I thoroughtly recommend this hotel.

Room was a little hot, but we just opened the window, so no problem. Even with the window open, it was very quiet.
